Appearance[]
Lacey is a slender girl with fair skin, with slightly thick brows, and down turned bronze yellow eyes. Her hair is styled to be shoulder length with fringe that is evenly trimmed above her eyes. Her hair color is ash pink with lighter pink under lights, with her signature tear drop shaped gold hair clips with blue gems. Her clothes consists of the academy's white sailor collar shirt with the red neckerchief held with a blue clip, blue pants with one blue stripe and one white, with white sneakers, and red thumb less gloves. Over her uniform she wears a long lavender knit cardigan that nearly reaches the ground with three buttons, a ruffled knit design around the shoulders and bows that are meant to reference her fairy type speciality. Like her father, she is of at least partial Sinnohan descent, effectively making her the equivalent of a Japanese-American.
Personality[]
Reliable and skilled in Pokémon battling, Lacey adores cute Pokémon, particularly Fairy-types. She is known for her strict adherence to rules and traditions, her love for cute Pokémon, and her role as a reliable guide for new students. Her sense of responsibility and being by the book is possibly due to her father, Clay, being a lawyer and a Gym leader, and wanting to follow his example. Though her habit of crossing her arms in an "X" fashion to show her disapproval of something shows she does have a playful side.
Etymology[]
Lacey's name ties with some words like "youthful" and the Araceae genus plant family that includes taro.
Her French name Taro, is based on "taro", which are root vegetables included in the family Araceae.
Biography[]
Lacey is the daughter of the Driftveil City Gym Leader Clay, and as such comes from a wealthy family. She is a second-year student in the academy, and often helps out Cyrano due to his forgetfulness.
After Kieran returned from the Kitakami field trip and took over as the BB League's Champion, his heavy-handed actions caused some controversy among the Elite Four. When the player is introduced into the academy, Lacey takes them on a short tour around before requesting a small Pokémon battle in which she lost.
When Drayton has the rest of the Elite Four and Kieran come to the cafeteria, he suggests the idea that the player be allowed to participate in the league. Lacey disapproves of the idea, since they should abide by school rules. This decision is supported by Amarys, but Crispin and Kieran agree, overruling their decision. When the player comes to her section in the Terarium, she apologizes for initially denying them, as she did not want them to get embroiled in the club's situation. She then oversees a trial where she has the player take note of various features on Pokémon; she will give the player two chances to answer the question correctly; a third incorrect answer will result in her calling in a Trainer for a battle, though defeating them will still progress the trial. As an Elite Four member, Lacey runs a different team more fitting of her status, though she still loses. After taking a picture with her cute Pokémon, she gives them the Alluring Voice TM before leaving.
She and the other Elite Four members watch the player's battle against Kieran, who topples him as the BB League Champion. When Crispin remarks about the enjoyable battle, Lacey scolds him for not reading the atmosphere, before Drayton walks up to Kieran and teases him, much to her disdain, as she sympathizes with his plight. She then expresses concern about how the club would be run, as the player was now the club's president despite being an exchange student and that if Kieran joined the Elite Four, it would push Crispin out of their ranks. After some deliberation, she ultimately decides to amend the rules, allowing exchange students to become Champions and freezing the current rankings in the league to allow Crispin to retain his position.
After completing the storyline, Lacey can be found in the club room, where the player can rematch her. Successfully defeating her in three matches will allow the player to trade one of their Pokémon for her Snubbull.

- Lacey's pink hair and facial structure may have been inspired been inspired by Jill from the 2005 GBA game Drill Dozer, which was also made by GameFreak. This is supported by the fact that her strongest Pokémon is her Excadrill.
