Origin[]
The Kee Berry is based on an akee, which it also gets its name from and has a similar shape to. Its description of having burning spiciness and extreme bitterness may reference the fruit's poisonousness when unripe and unprepared. Its ability to raise Defense when hit with a physical move may be based on the fruit's tough skin.
