Biography[]
Seeing the heroes were trespassing into the Pokémon Preserve, Katrina sent three of her Mightyena and a Poochyena to stop them. However, the Poochyena attacked the heroes, an order Katrina did not issue and scolded Poochyena. It went even to attack Brock, who was trying to flirt with Katrina. Max recalled Poochyena evolves into a Mightyena, but Katrina doubted that, since all Poochyena hatched from eggs, except that one, thinking Poochyena simply did not want to evolve. Max decided to train Poochyena, to let it learn to use Bite. He even lent May's Torchic and even asked Ash to borrow one of his. Hearing that Max wanted the Pokémon lose to make Poochyena evolve, Ash reminded Max this could even make Poochyena sad the fights were not even. Max ran off with Poochyena into the woods for training. He was approached by Team Rocket, who was in disguise and managed to steal Poochyena. Poochyena recalled its training and managed to bite away the rope and setting itself free. Once Team Rocket were defeated, Max realized Poochyena was powerful, even if it did not evolve. Just then, Poochyena evolved into a Mightyena, pleasing Max to personally see a Pokémon evolve.
