City of Joy
ひとがつどう しあわせのまち
Jubilife City is a location introduced in Generation IV.
Description[]
The player in Jubilife City in Pokémon Platinum Version
Jubilife City is the largest city in the Sinnoh region. Prominent locations in the city include the Global Trade Station, a Trainers' School, the Pokétch Company, and the Jubilife TV Station. There is also a residential building, Jubilife Condominiums. In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, the GTS is replaced by the Global Wonder Station.
For a city in the Pokémon World, Jubilife City is largely populated, having a total population of 124 in Pokémon Platinum Version. Originally, in Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, Jubilife City had only 87 residents, increased to 88 in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl.
To the west of the city is Canalave City, to the east is Oreburgh City, to the south is Sandgem Town and to the north is Floaroma Town. The GTS in Pokémon Platinum Version is a lot bigger than that in Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version.

In all three versions, Route 203 is inaccessible until the player gets the Pokétch. In Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version, the path is blocked by a Collector before fulfilling this condition, while in Pokémon Platinum Version, it is blocked by Looker instead. Additionally, the latter game changes the graphics of the sidewalk.
In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Jubilife City was revealed to have once been Jubilife Village. Shortly after being settled, the place received a clothes shop, a hairdresser, a restaurant with potato mochi, a crafting shop, and more. The Survey Corps headquarters were also made to protect Hisui.

Generation IV[]
The player meeting Dawn upon their first visit to Jubilife City in Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version
In Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version and Pokémon Platinum Version, when the player first arrives at Jubilife City, Dawn/Lucas appears to them and informs that their rival is at the Trainers' School. The player must go there and give a Parcel to their rival, as the rival's mom requested. The Parcel has two Town Maps, and the player and their rival each take one for themselves.
Outside, the player can head north of the Trainers' School to talk to the Pokétch Co. president, who tells them to look for three Clowns. After receiving three Coupons for answering each Clown's question correctly, the player can return to the Pokétch Co. president and receive the Pokétch.
Later, when the player returns to Jubilife City after obtaining the Coal Badge, they encounter two Team Galactic Grunts harassing and bullying Professor Rowan and Dawn/Lucas into coming with them. The player engages in his first Double Battle against the two Galactic Grunts while partnered with Dawn/Lucas during the battle.
After winning the battle, Team Galactic retreats and Rowan and Dawn/Lucas state that ninety percent of Pokémon are tied with evolution before leaving. After obtaining the Fashion Case, the player can enter Jubilife TV.
In the Pokémon Diamond Version and Pokémon Pearl Version Demo Version, Jubilife City is the starting area of the player's journey.
Pokémon X and Pokémon Y[]
Though Jubilife City does not appear in Pokémon X and Pokémon Y, which takes place in the Kalos region, an arrangement of its theme is played by a girl in Snowbelle City.
Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl[]
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, Jubilife City has the same purpose as in the original games.

Pokémon: The Series[]
An overview of Jubilife City in "DP010: Not on MY Watch Ya Don't!"
Jubilife City is featured in Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl. It is the largest city in Sinnoh, and it has its own Contest Hall and, like the core series, the Pokétch Company. It is mentioned by Dawn several times, the first time being "DP002: Two Degrees of Separation!," since Dawn wants to make her debut as a Pokémon Coordinator there.
Jubilife City is first actually seen in "DP010: Not on MY Watch Ya Don't!," where Dawn tries to obtain a Pokétch. She excitedly receives one from one of the three clowns, who are actually Jessie, James, and Meowth (Team Rocket) in disguise, and they gave Dawn a fake Pokétch. Later, Dawn finds out from Landis that her Pokétch is fake, and he gives her a real Pokétch, as well as one to Ash and Brock each.
In the following episode, "DP011: Mounting a Coordinator Assault!," Dawn participates in the Pokémon Contest hosted in Jubilife City, where she competes against her new rival, Zoey. However, in "DP012: Arrival of a Rival!," Zoey wins the contest and earns her second Contest Ribbon, the Jubilife Ribbon.
The group revisits Jubilife City in "DP021: Ya See We Want an Evolution!," en route to Floaroma Town for Dawn's next contest. At Jubilife City, the group visits the B-Button League, a place that does not appear in the core series; it is an organization of Pokémon Coordinators who raise Pokémon without evolving them. Ash and the others thwart another scheme by Team Rocket, this time to evolve Haley's Feebas and Oralie's Magikarp before continuing their way to Floaroma Town.

Manga[]
Pokémon: The Series[]
Jubilife City has made some appearances in the Diamond & Pearl Chapter. It is first seen in "D&P001: Stagestruck Starly." While in Jubilife City, Diamond and Pearl participate in a comedy contest hosted by Jubilife TV. Because of a mistake from Diamond, they lose. After the contest, the duo encounter Professor Rowan and Mr. Berlitz, who are in Jubilife City to meet up with Paka and Uji, the two bodyguards of Platinum, to accompany them on their travels to Mt. Coronet. When Diamond and Pearl learn that they will receive a special prize from the contest, they rush back, accidentally knocking over Rowan and Mr. Berlitz, accidentally mixing up their bicycle prize with Paka and Uji's briefing to be Platinum's bodyguards.
In the following chapter, "D&P002: A Bevy of Bidoof," Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum stay at the Jubilife Grand Hotel before starting their journey to Mt. Coronet, with Diamond and Pearl mistakenly chosen to be Platinum's bodyguards. However, they are attacked by a group of Bidoofs inside of the hotel.
Later on, during "D&P053: Licking Lickitung," Diamond returned to Jubilife City and met the Pokétch Co. president and three clowns, who are promoting the Pokétch. The campaign is interrupted by a Lickitung, who stole the Pokétch, and as Diamond went to confront the Lickitung, it evolved into a Lickilicky. In the following chapter, "D&P054: Luring in a Lickilicky," Diamond manages to catch the Lickilicky and recover the Pokétch. Diamond decided to return some of the other items that his Lickilicky had stolen to their respective owners before leaving to Sandgem Town.
Jubilife City appears briefly during "D&P078: Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia V," when Dialga and Palkia's distortion of space and time causes three kids from Veilstone City to land on the golden Staraptor statue on the roof of Jubilife Grand Hotel.
Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure![]
Jubilife City is first seen in "DPA002: Hareta's Very First Pokémon Battle!!," where Hareta and Mitsumi arrive at the location together, much like in , but the events are entirely different. Hareta was successful in battling a pair of Interviewers, only to be ambushed by a different pair, two Team Galactic Grunts, who stole Hareta's Piplup, forcing him to give chase.
