Janina is a character appearing in Pokémon: Johto League Champions.
Biography
Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver
Janina is Jasmine's apprentice. When the heroes came in Olivine Gym, she posed as Jasmine and fought with Ash, using Onix (with a water repellent wax) against Totodile. The real Jasmine canceled the match, then told Janina she should spend time outside the gym. Janina thought she was expelled, so she removed Onix's wax. Upon learning about the wax, Brock advised her she should focus on improving Onix's strength, not removing its weaknesses. After Brock and Sparkle were taken away, she had Onix bind Jessie's Arbok and the balloon by the ferry, allowing Brock and Sparkle to get out. Once they were rescued, Onix threw them away, impressing Jasmine. Next day, Janina went with heroes to Cianwood City, where she got medicine from a pharmacist for Sparkle, then took off back to Olivine City.
Once the heroes came back to the Gym, Janina acted as a referee for the Gym battle of Ash vs. Jasmine.

Janina, during her battle with Ash, used Onix, who was polished with water-repellent wax. This caused Onix to resist Totodile's Water Gun and defeat it easily. When she removed the wax, it helped fight off Team Rocket.
