Inkay (Japanese: マーイーカ, Hepburn: Maaiika) is a Dark/Psychic-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI.
Biology
Physiology
Inkay is a small amphibious Pokémon that resembles a cuttlefish. Its body is round and blue in color, with a fringe of short tentacles forming its underside. Inkay has very large round black eyes and a small pink beak-like smiling mouth. It has a pinkish white-finned cap-like feature with four bioluminescent yellow spots atop its head. Two short white arm-like tentacles sprout from either side of its cap. When in battle, Inkay uses the luminescent yellow patches on its pink cap to hypnotize its foes.
Evolution
Inkay can be evolved to a Malamar at level 30 while having a Pokémon Battle while holding the 3DS upside-down.

Appearances
Anime
Inkay appeared in A Battle of Aerial Mobility!, when James caught it.
Trivia
- Despite its cuttlefish-like appearance, it isn't a Water-type.
- Inkay's method of evolution is the most unusual of all evolution methods. Its method is the only evolution method that need the player to do something with the platform, rather than the program.
- There was a "PokéGod" rumor during the first generation saying that, if you hold the Game Boy upside down while Lickitung evolves, it will evolve into Luigi from the Mario Bros. series, this was, however, an April's Fools prank.
Etymology
Inkay comes from ink and spray.
