Herba Mystica (Japanese: 秘伝スパイス, Hepburn: Hiden Supaisu, trans. Secret Spice) are unique herbs introduced in Generation IX. They are rare sandwich ingredients that supposedly benefit the consumer's health.
Effect[]
In the story[]
The Scarlet BookS/Violet BookV claims that, 200 years ago, the explorers of Area Zero found herbs inside the crater that impact vigor when they are eaten. They then named these herbs "Herba Mystica" and tried to grow these herbs in certain areas around the Paldea region, but the herbs were eaten by Pokémon before they could harvest them. The Pokémon that ate the herbs became large and strong and are now known as Titan Pokémon.
In the Path of Legends storyline, Arven stumbled across the mentions of Herba Mystica in the book in pursuit of helping his Mabosstiff recover from severe damage. He and the player character defeated five Titan Pokémon around Paldea in search of the Herba Mystica. Eventually the herbs are found and Arven prepared them in sandwiches for Mabosstiff and the player's weakened KoraidonS/MiraidonV to eat:
- The Sweet Herba Mystica is protected by Klawf, the Stony Cliff Titan. It is good for gut health and can help aid digestion. Koraidon/Miraidon is able to dash after eating it.
- The Bitter Herba Mystica is protected by Bombirdier, the Open Sky Titan. It improves blood circulation and boosts the immune system. It also allows Koraidon/Miraidon to move across water.
- The Salty Herba Mystica is protected by Orthworm, the Lurking Steel Titan. It cures aching limbs and is good for neuropathy and numbness. After eating it, Koraidon/Miraidon can jump higher.
- The Sour Herba Mystica is protected by Great TuskS/Iron TreadsV, the Quaking Earth Titan. It has lots of nutrients and is good for one's overall health, and Koraidon/Miraidon can glide after consuming it.
- The Spicy Herba Mystica is protected by Dondozo and Tatsugiri, together forming the False Dragon Titan. It supposedly boosts metabolism and circulation and can remove toxins from the body. After eating, Koraidon/Miraidon can climb vertical walls.
After eating all five Herba Mystica, Mabosstiff is eventually able to recover and battle.
As sandwich ingredients[]
The Bag item versions of Herba Mystica can be used as condiments to make sandwiches in the Picnic feature. The player may use them freely in Creative Mode, or via preset recipes (mostly consisting of recipes for Master-level sandwiches) in Recipe Mode. Most of these recipes can be unlocked by talking to a man in any shop of the Every Wich Way chain when the player possesses the corresponding type of Herba Mystica, while a few can be obtained by talking to some other NPCs in the game.
In Creative Mode, Herba Mystica is essentially required to unlock the "Sparkling Power" for Shiny Pokémon hunting. These can be uncommonly acquired from 5-star or higher Tera Raid Battles.
The player may also give a shaker of Sweet Herba Mystica to Saguaro in his final interaction with them in the home economics room of Naranja AcademyS/Uva AcademyV. He will then give the player a Slowpoke Cup in return.

Trivia[]
- In most localizations of Scarlet and Violet, their respective names of Herba Mystica are a reference to how they essentially serve the purpose of Hidden Machines in the Path of Legends storyline. For example, the English name can be abbreviated as "HM", which is also the abbreviation used for Hidden Machines.
