Effects[]

Hail will create a hailstorm on the field that lasts for 5 turns. All Pokémon on will receive damage equal to 1/16 of their maximum HP, unless they are Ice-Type; have the ability Snow Cloak, Ice Body, Overcoat, or Magic Guard; or are holding the Safety Goggles. Ice Body will heal 1/16 of the Pokémon's maximum HP, Snow Cloak increases the Pokémon's evasion by 20%, and Slush Rush doubles the Pokémon's speed. Castform will turn into its snowy form and Eiscue will turn into its ice face form. Weather Ball turns into an Ice-Type move and does double damage, and Blizzard cannot miss. Aurora Veil can be used but its effects end when the hail stops. Solar Beam and Solar Blade have their damage halved, and Morning Sun, Moonlight, and Synthesis heal 1/4 of the user's maximum HP instead of half. The duration of hail is extended to 8 turns if the user is holding an Icy Rock. Hail fails if there is Heavy Rain, Extremely Harsh Sunlight, or Strong Winds are active. Hail cannot be used in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet.
