The Guide Gent is an character appearing in Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version, Pokémon Crystal Version, and the remakes Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version.

Biography[]

His role is to provide newcomers a tour of Cherrygrove City. In one of his quotes, the Guide Gent mentions that he was a Pokémon Trainer in his youth.

Pokémon Gold Version and Pokémon Silver Version and Pokémon Crystal Version[]

The Guide Gent is an old man living in Cherrygrove City. He is first found on the east area of the town. As soon as the player sets foot in Cherrygrove City, Gent will talk to them and his tour will commence. He will first teach the player about the Pokémon Center, talking about its functions. Secondly, he will direct them to the Poké Mart, talking about the items that are sold there. After this he will direct the player to Route 30, telling them about the route's main attraction, Mr. Pokémon's house and the fact that trainers will be seeking battles there. Subsequently, he will direct them to the sea west of Cherrygrove. The Guide Gent lastly takes the player just outside his own house, where he gifts them with the Map Card for their PokéGear device, right before going into his home.

When the player first visits Cherrygrove City, he gives them a brief tour, showing the Pokémon Center, the Poké Mart, the path to Route 30, and then takes the player just outside of his home, where the Guide Gent then moves into.

Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version[]

The Guide Gent retains his role in Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version. A difference from before is that after his tour, the Guide Gent instead gifts the player with a pair of Running Shoes and teaches them how to use them. The sign placed outside of his home in the heart of Cherrygrove reads "Full-of-Energy, High-Speed Old Man", which may refer to his Running Shoes.

The Guide Gent still gives the player the Map Card for the PokéGear, like before, but he does this only when the player goes to Route 30.
