Gravity is a Psychic-type move introduced in Generation IV. It increases the accuracy of all Pokémon and causes all Pokémon that are Flying-types or have Levitate to be vulnerable to Ground-type attacks.

Description[]

Games Description
DPPtHGSS Gravity is intensified for five turns, making moves involving flying unusable and negating Levitation.
BWB2W2
XYORAS
Gravity is intensified for five turns, making moves involving flying unusable and negating Levitate.
SMUSUM Gravity is intensified for five turns, making moves involving flying unusable and negating Levitate.
SwShBDSPLA This move enables Flying-type Pokémon or Pokémon with the Levitate Ability to be hit by Ground-type moves. Moves that involve flying can't be used.
SV Enables Flying types or Pokémon with the Levitate Ability to be hit by Ground-type moves for five turns. Moves that involve flying can't be used.

Effect[]

Gravity lasts for 5 turns. When Gravity is in effect, the accuracy of the moves is multiplied by 5/3 (about 1.66x).

Also, Flying-type Pokémon and those with Levitate, those under the effect of Magnet Rise or Telekinesis or those holding an Air Balloon become grounded (Flying-types don't lose this type, just lose Ground immunity).

Grounded Pokémon become affected by terrains, Spikes and Sticky Web (also by Toxic Spikes if the Pokémon brought to the ground is not Poison or Steel-type).

Gravity prevents the use of Fly, Bounce, Splash, Jump Kick, High Jump Kick, Magnet Rise, Telekinesis, Sky Drop and Flying Press. If a Pokémon is in the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly or Bounce, that move is cancelled immediately.

In Generation V only, due to a glitch in Double and Triple Battles, when Sky Drop is cancelled by the usage of Gravity, only the user will be brought to the ground, while the target remains in the air. From Generation VI onwards, both user and target are brought to the ground.

If powered up by Psychium Z, Z-Gravity raises the user's Special Attack by 1 stage, in addition to the primary effect.
