Gouging Fire (Japanese: ウガツホムラ, HepburnUgatsuhomura) is a Fire/Dragon-type Paradox Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Gouging Fire greatly resembles Entei except its large head crest resembled a frill of a triceratops dinosaur, notability a Styracosaurus. It still bears gray paws with brown pads, but its front paws have sharp red claws extended outward and three green stripes are on its right thigh. It's gray plate still covers its muzzle and resembles a handlebar mustache.

Instead of black cuff-like bands around all four legs, there is only two on the back legs while the front legs each have two black pads on them. A long, light gray cloud of smoke now forms the 'tail' of Gouging Fire. Gray plating is still visible on its back compared to its cream underbelly.

Behavior[]

According to A.I. Sada, Gouging Fire was believed to be an Entei that was resurrected from a fossil.

Natural Abilities[]

Via its signature move, Burning Bulwark, it can set its fur ablaze as a defensive mechanism. Much like Entei, it has control over volcanos and fire, able to summon flaming pillars and cause eruptions by roaring.

    Trivia[]

    • Gouging Fire is the heaviest of the Paradox Pokémon.
      • It is the only Paradox Pokémon who's signature move is a Status move.

    Origin[]

Gouging Fire appears to resemble various ceratopsian dinosaurs such as Styracosaurus, a Triceratops-like dinosaur with one horn on its snout and several on its head. It also seems to be based on Entei, even keeping its leonine features.
