Golett (Japanese: ゴビット, HepburnGobitto) (GO-let[1]) is a Ground/Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Golett is a light, blue, compact robot-like Pokémon, with yellow lights and a blue diamond with a spiral pattern on his stomach. It has stubby rocks for feet and big, bulky arms. Golett has asymmetrical eyes, which is a characteristic only found in its evolutionary line. Despite its robot-like appearance, Golett is not part Steel-type.

Behavior[]

Golett are amicable Pokémon. They are comfortable around humans and will not give them much trouble. They may either fight or flee when they sense danger. They are dutiful creatures that will obediently follow the commands of their trainers—even the ones that don't seem like commands. These Pokémon take orders very literally, so Trainers should be careful figurative speech around them.

Evolution[]

Golett evolves into Golurk at level 43.

Luke's Golett.

Trivia[]

  • Golett and its evolution Golurk are the first Pokémon that have a ground/ghost-type combination.

Origin[]

Golett is based on a golem with elements of modern humanoid robots. Its aqua-grayish color and square spirals may be in reference to bismuth, a metallic element that forms iridescent crystals with a square spiral pattern. Its colors may also be a reference to Mega Man (the arrangement of colors and patterns on its head resemble Mega Man's helmet somewhat).

Etymology[]

Golett comes from golem and -lett (suffix meaning young or small).

Its Japanese name, Gobitto, is a portmanteau of golem, robot, and bit (the smallest unit of digital information, referring to its robotic nature).
