This Raticate is a normal-type Pokémon owned by the Gentleman.
Biography[]
It was a Pokémon that Ash was impressed by and is owned by an unnamed gentleman, who used it in a battle against a young trainer's Starmie. Raticate won the fight. Ash was so impressed by the fact that Raticate knew Jump Kick, he challenged the gentleman to a battle using his Butterfree. He managed to win the fight and the gentleman suggested trading his Butterfree for Raticate, and Ash agreed. Soon after, Ash began to regret trading away his Butterfree due to their history. The gentleman saw Ash's sorry state and agreed to trade Butterfree back, doing so just as the ship sank and trapped Ash and his friends underwater while the gentleman along with the other passengers managed to escape.
