This unnamed Trainer is a character appearing in Pokémon Journeys: The Series, who was the former Trainer of Ash's Gengar.
Biography[]
Pokémon Journeys: The Series[]
This Trainer apparently despised Gengar due to believing it brought him bad luck, thus he lied to Gengar by telling it to wait at an abandoned house. Gengar waited for him for three years, only for him to never return, with said building being converted into the Cerise Laboratory. This leads to Gengar feeling bitter and wrathful about the trainer's abandonment, leading to Gengar to attack other people.
When Gengar learned that he was glad to have gotten rid of it as well as calling it "bad luck" and "a curse" while hiding in Ash's shadow, it descended into a rage and attempted to attack him and his girlfriend. Horrified of his Gengar's rage, the trainer and his girlfriend quickly fled off, never to be seen again.

Trivia[]
- Gengar's Trainer is the reason why Gengar became misanthropic in the first place, as the Gengar attacked people in embitterment from its abandonment until it was later befriended by Ash, and its eventual capture by Ash.
