This Magnemite, nicknamed Francois, is an electric/steel-type Pokémon owned by Ren.
Biography[]
Francois was originally a wild Magnemite who frequented an antique themed restaurant Ren also visited, due to its love of electricity produced by antiquities. Eventually the restaurant was forced to close, prompting Ren to adopt it. Initially, it refused and ran away, hiding in a heap of used lamps in the trash, but the two eventually grew close, with Ren giving its nickname (named after the aforementioned restaurant) and accommodating its' picky appetite.[1]
Pokémon Journeys: The Series[]
Ren brought Francois out to help him deal with an electrical issue at Cerise Laboratory. It eventually ran into the Gengar who caused the issue, and was knocked out.[2]
When Ren was looking into a mysterious ball, rolling around the city, Francois was by his side.[3]
Francois was among the Electric-type Pokémon Inspector Decker checked at Cerise's Laboratory against an eyewitness' drawing of a culprit involved in the theft of electricity.[4]
When all the Magnemite in Vermilion City were driven insane by a geomagnetic storm, caused by a Solar Flare affecting a satellite, Francois had to wear a tinfoil hat to block the signal. However, said Magnemite tried to chase it, hoping to assimilate into the group, which succeeded after Francois' hat was destroyed while it was protecting its trainer, absorbing it into an unknown organism. After Ash's Pikachu distracted the rest with Thunderbolt, Ren was able to use Francois' peculiar feeding habits to rescue it.[1]
Known moves[]
Francois appears to know Thunder Wave. But it was unable to perform the attacks because it was being tangled up by the cords through Gengar's powers.
In "It's All in the Name!", it was revealed to know Supersonic.
