Biography[]
As Chimchar[]
Having trained with Flint, Chimchar was involved in a battle with Volkner's Pikachu against a poacher's Houndoom.[1]
As Monferno[]
Monferno and Flint eventually battled a Trainer's Snorlax. Monferno had trouble defeating it, as it used Mach Punch and Flamethrower against it. It made Flint realize that he should improve his willpower, rather than focusing on strength alone.[2]
As Infernape[]
Diamond and Pearl series[]
Flint's Monferno eventually evolved into an Infernape.
Seeing Ash being attacked by a robot in Sunyshore City's Gym, Flint had Infernape attack the robot to save Ash. When Volkner did not want to accept Ash's challenge, Flint sent Infernape to battle in his stead. Ash sent Buizel, starting off with Water Gun but missed. Buizel used Ice Punch, to which Infernape blocked its move and punched its Sonic Boom away. Buizel went to use Aqua Jet, but collided with Infernape's Flare Blitz and was defeated. Ash then sent out his own Infernape to battle, where it fired a Flamethrower but Flint's blocked it. Ash's Infernape went to use Flame Wheel, but Flint's Infernape pushed it out of the way, and evaded its Mach Punch, too. As Ash's Infernape was mounting another attack, Flint's Infernape used Mach Punch and defeated it in one blow.
Ash sent his Pikachu as his final Pokémon. Pikachu used Quick Attack and dealt a blow to Infernape. The two sides collided with Volt Tackle and Flare Blitz, then dealt blows to each other with Iron Tail and Mach Punch. Pikachu got pushed to a wall, whereas Infernape charged to use Close Combat. Pikachu regained its momentum to fire a Thunderbolt, hitting Infernape, but was burnt by its Flare Blitz. Pikachu persisted to continue battling as it used Quick Attack but was struck by Close Combat, then fired Thunderbolt against Infernape's Flare Blitz. After Ash caught Pikachu to stop it from being slammed to the wall, Pikachu charged away with Volt Tackle, but got hit by Mach Punch. In a final confrontation, Infernape's Thunder Punch countered Pikachu's Volt Tackle and defeated it.[1]
Seeing Team Rocket attempting to steal Kenny's Floatzel, Flint sent Infernape, whose Overheat blasted them off. Meeting Jasmine, who wanted to challenge him, Flint used Infernape to battle her Steelix. Steelix used Iron Tail, which Infernape dodged. Steelix repeated its attack, but Infernape blocked it, along with its Sandstorm. Infernape evaded its Crunch attack, and used Flare Blitz to defeat Steelix in one attack.[2]
Infernape battled Cynthia's Garchomp when Flint challenged Cynthia for the title of Sinnoh League Champion. Infernape dodged Garchomp's Draco Meteor and attacked with Close Combat. Garchomp smashed Infernape to the ground with Brick Break and then Infernape struck back with Mach Punch before using another Close Combat. Garchomp retaliated with Stone Edge and then intercepted Infernape's Flare Blitz with Dragon Rush creating a huge explosion. When the smoke cleared, Infernape collapsed and Cynthia was announced the winner.[3]
Flint also appeared in the ending scene of the 13th Pokémon movie, along with his Infernape.[4]
Journeys series[]
Flint was in the Masters Eight match and used his Infernape against Leon's Charizard. However, due to a type disadvantage, Flint's Infernape easily lost the match, causing Flint's rank to drop from 7th to 8th place.
Infernape and Flint later watched Iris' match against Cynthia, alongside Volkner and Electivire.

Trivia[]
- Infernape's Flare Blitz has changed color throughout various episodes. When it used it against Jasmine's Steelix and Ash's Pikachu and Buizel, Flare Blitz was red and yellow, but when it was used against Cynthia's Garchomp it was blue.
