Fletchling is a Normal/Flying-type Pokémon which was first introduced in Generation VI.

Fletchling is a small bird Pokémon with orange head, purple body and white and black feathers. It is based on sparrow with small beak.

Fletchling is highly docile and fond to people especially trainers. They seems to always let out beautiful chirps to listeners and even bird-watchers. In battle, Fletchling is much "volatile". It seems to be very hasty enough that it is very swift and relentless. Fletchling is shown to have great determination, it hardly shows any sign of "chickening-out" from battles.

Fletchling can be evolved into Fletchinder at level 17 and finally into Talonflame.

Main articles: Ash's Fletchling and Grace's Fletchling

Fletchling first appeared in the first Episode of X and Y series under the owner ship of Grace. Ash Ketchum caught one in XY003.

  • Fletchling resembles the Flying- type Pokémon sprite in Red and Blue versions.

Fletching's name is purely based from the word "fletch", a material (commonly in the early age when they used pure tail feathers) in archery that serves as the stabilizer for the arrows, while "hatchling" is a newborn animal that is born from an egg (commonly baby birds are referred to as hatchlings). Its small-size body may refer to itself as a "hatchling" while its "fletch" shape and stylized diagonally striped tail is very similar to the fletching of an arrow.
