Biography

Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl

Sho attempted to capture Ash's Pikachu when he encountered him. He offered to trade Ash's Pikachu for a Mareep, Magnemite or Magneton, but after Ash declined the offer, he challenged Ash to a battle which he agreed to after Sho taunted Ash and defeated him with his Raichu using a powerful Hyper Beam. Ash later challenged him to a rematch and was defeated, causing him to see the power of Ash's Pikachu.

• Sho can easily be seen as a rehash of Lt. Surge both in terms of personality and both owning a Raichu. In fact, Sho's episode shares a lot of similarities to Electric Shock Showdown:
  • Ash's Pikachu loses to a Raichu owned by an arrogant trainer causing Pikachu to get hospitalized
  • Pikachu refusing the Thunder Stone
  • Ash wiping the smirk off a trainer's Raichu in a rematch, earning respect.
• The difference between the two is that Lt. Surge originated from the games because he's a Gym Leader, Sho was a one off character and trainer created for the anime.
