Final Demo[]
This list contains some of the Pokémon that appeared in Final Demo of Pokémon Gold & Silver. This build comes from much later demos in which most designs were finalized and/or reworked into the current Pokémon. The sprites more resemble the style of the final game.
Dex number | Name | Type | Front sprite | Back sprite | Notes |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
#162 | Ootachi | Normal | Coloration may have inspired Furret's current Shiny coloration. | ||
#168 | Ariadone | Bug/Poison | Design is similar to that in the SpaceWorld Demo. The back sprite is nearly identical. | ||
#184 | Mitei 04 | Water | Design and coloration are completely different. Coloration would go on to be used in Azumarill's Shiny coloration. Back sprite is used by Marill. Its Japanese name "Mitei" means "undecided". | ||
#189 | Wataneko | Grass/ | Early design of Jumpluff that is much closer to the final version than its SpaceWorld appearance. Instead of three cotton-balls like in the final design, it has five. Its back sprite uses its SpaceWorld design. | ||
#191 | Mitei 01 | Grass | Early design of Sunkern. Back sprite is obviously a placeholder. Its Japanese name "Mitei" means "undecided". | ||
#193 | Tsubomitto | Water/Electric | Early design of Lanturn. Design is much more chubby and has a rounder snout. The back sprite remains as Tsubomitto from the SpaceWorld Demo. | ||
#194 | Aipom | Normal | Design is different but closer to the final than the SpaceWorld design. | ||
#195 | Madaamu | Normal/ | Name, typing, and back sprite suggest this was going to be Madaamu from the SpaceWorld Demo. However, the front sprite shows an early design of Wooper, implying that at the time of the Demo, it was halfway through being replaced. | ||
#202 | Tsuinzu | Psychic/Normal | The back sprite and name show that this was a redesign of the Girafarig pre-evolution from the SpaceWorld Demo. The front sprite is nothing more than an outline. However, the front sprite outline was remade into Wobbuffet's back sprite by simply flipping it upside-down, implying this may have later been adapted into Wobbuffet. It shares its index number with Wobbuffet, backing up said possibility. | ||
#205 | Tsubotsubo | Bug/Rock | Early design of Shuckle. Design is much worm snake-like and its shell looks like a clay vase. | ||
#206 | Nokocchi | Normal | Early design of Dunsparce that lacks wings or a drill tail. The design is much more in-line with depictions of the Tsuchinoko in Japanese mythology. | ||
#213 | Purakkusu | Bug/Steel | The front sprite is a crudely drawn concept of Forretress. The back sprite is of Purakkusu from the SpaceWorld Demo, suggesting that it had been only partially replaced. | ||

#219 | Mitei 08 | Water/Rock | The front sprite is the finished design of Corsola, however, its back sprite depicts Baririina from the SpaceWorld Demo. Its Japanese name "Mitei" means "undecided". | ||
#222 | Mitei 10 | Fire | An early design of Slugma. It may have also used aspects from Grimey, Grimer's pre-evolution in the SpaceWorld Demo. The back sprite is a crudely drawn mockup. | ||
#223 | Teppouo | Water | Resembles its appearance in the SpaceWorld Demo. | ||
#224 | Okutan | Water | Resembles its appearance in the SpaceWorld Demo, though without its helmet. Strangely, its back sprite depicts it with said helmet. | ||
#225 | Gifuto | Ice/ | Early design of Delibird. Different head, beard, and wings. | ||
#226 | Haneei | Water/ | Early design of Mantine. Has a large mouth (similarly to real manta rays), has a different back design, and seems to have two turrets instead of one Remoraid. | ||
#230 | Kingudora | Water/Dragon | Early design of Kingdra that resembles its appearance in the SpaceWorld Demo. Its front sprite seems to be a revision of its SpaceWorld front sprite. | ||
#236 | Gongu | Fighting | Early design of Tyrogue that resembles its appearance in the SpaceWorld Demo. | ||
#237 | Kapoeraa | Fighting | Early design of Hitmontop that resembles its appearance in the SpaceWorld Demo. | ||
#246 | Yoogirasu | Rock/Ground | An early sprite for Larvitar that is unfinished. Its back sprite uses an early version of Tyranitar's. | ||
#251 | Mitei 12 | Psychic/Grass | Early design of Celebi. Its Japanese name "Mitei" means "undecided". |
Alongside these Pokémon, there is data in the game for four Pokémon without sprites. These four would have been evolutions for Yanma, Girafarig, Shuckle, and Piloswine. Of these Pokémon, Yanma and Piloswine would later receive evolutions in Generation IV with Yanmega and Mamoswine respectively.

Trivia[]
- Instead of getting their own unique coloration like in the final game, all of the Shiny Pokémon get recolors depending on their color palette.
