Trivia[]
- Fidough shares its species name with Growlithe, Lillipup, Rockruff, and Yamper. They are all known as the Puppy Pokémon.
Origin[]
Fidough is most likely based on a combination of both puppies and dough. Its swirly ears and neck fur notably appear to be based on Kaiser roll and Ensaïmada. Fidough's overall concept may also be a play on the word "purebred", a term used to describe dogs of selectively bred lineage, which sounds like the words "pure bread", which could describe Fidough.
Etymology[]
Fidough comes from the common dog's name "Fido" and "Dough" stretchy unbaked dough. Fidough's Japanese name literally means "puppymochi", with mochi being a traditional Japanese food.
