This Skarmory is a steel/flying-type Pokémon owned by Falkner.

Skarmory attacked Falkner and Gold. Falkner recalled Skarmory could be defeated using heat, so Gold had a Sunkern, Sunbo, launch his Cyndaquil, Exbo, to use Ember on Skarmory. Skarmory was injured and was quickly captured by Falkner.[1] Falkner's Pokémon were present when Falkner succeeded in becoming the Gym Leader of Azalea Town.[2]

Entei's attack missing Falkner and Skarmory by an inch.

Falkner was training his Skarmory when he and a Bird Keeper were approached by Entei and Raikou. Falkner rode Skarmory and had it use Swift on both Legendary Pokémon. Since Entei used Fire Blast and Raikou Thunder, Falkner, the Bird Keeper and Skarmory took both attacks. Just as Entei and Raikou prepared to make another attack, Falkner counted on Skarmory to evade the attack, as the collision would hurt Entei and Raikou, enough for Falkner to catch both of them.[3] Due to Suicune's arrival, the plan failed. Instead, Falkner planned on catching Suicune, having his Skarmory use Steel Wing. Since Skarmory's wings cracked, Falkner threw his Poké Balls to catch Suicune; Entei and Raikou launched their attacks and hit Skarmory, preventing Suicune from being caught. At the end of the day, Falkner flew with Skarmory and arrested the Bird Keeper for illegally catching Pokémon and trespassing.[4] The tale was told by the Pokémon Association director, who believed Suicune would come to Mahogany Town and challenge its Gym Leader, Pryce.[5]

Falkner came to the Indigo Plateau, where he and Skarmory participated in the Gym Leaders' tournament.[6]

Falkner faced Janine and sent his Skarmory against her Ariados. However, Skarmory was bound by Ariados' String Shot and Spider Web. However, Janine was distracted and saw her father, Koga, among the audience. Though Skarmory broke out and continued to battle, Janine called her Ariados back and surrendered the battle.[7]
