The Exp. Share is an item introduced in Generation II.
Effect[]
When the player gives an Exp. Share to a Pokémon in their party, half of the experience points gained by the battling Pokémon is received by the one holding the Exp. Share.
Since Generation VI, the Exp. Share has been changed to a key item that is activated from the Bag menu instead. If it is activated, the Pokémon that have participated in battle receive the regular number of experience points, while the Pokémon that did not participate receive half the number of experience points that the other Pokémon had obtained.
Exp. Share received unique flavor text in Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet despite not making an appearance, and it also has an unused icon.
