This Eternatus is a Poison/Dragon-type Legendary Pokémon caught by Goh.
Biography[]
Eternatus appeared for the first time as it flew through the clouds, next to Ash and Goh's plane heading to the Galar region.[1]
When Chairman Rose released Eternatus, he revealed that he had been looking for strong Trainers to catch it so it could power Galar for eternity without the dangers that came from doing so. However, Eternatus broke free of the safety barrier that had been installed via Dynamax Cannon and began causing havoc with its particles, causing Pokémon to Dynamax across Galar.[2]
After Team Rocket calmed Meowth down, Meowth went to the top of the power plant with his partners and attempted to use G-Max Gold Rush on it, only to find that the attack refused to go off. Leon also found that he couldn't Gigantamax his Charizard. Eternatus then used Dynamax Cannon on Team Rocket, blasting them away. Soon after, Eternatus went into its Eternamax form just as Ash and Goh arrived with the rusted sword and shield in tow, causing Zacian and Zamazenta to arrive and weaken Eternatus enough for Goh to catch it with a Poké Ball. Once the incident was over, Goh handed the Poké Ball over to Sonia and Professor Magnolia for safekeeping, as the Pokémon was deemed too dangerous to be let out again.[3]
As time passed, Magnolia and Sonia decided to let Eternatus out of the safe, as the Dynamax phenomenon was a staple of the Galar region and that it had no future being locked away. Due to the violent tendencies it had in the past, they began to train it to coexist peacefully with humans by letting Leon take care of it, although it took some time for him to calm the Pokémon down and that he would need more time to control its powers. The three showed the reformed Eternatus to Ash and Goh at Wyndon Stadium before Goh decided to let Leon take care of it, seeing that it would be better off with the people of Galar rather than him.[4]
During Ash and Leon's match, Eternatus was attracted to the Galar particles that were emitting from the stadium. It used Dynamax Cannon to stabilize the dark clouds from the stadium to depart and stabilize the particles, suggesting that Leon's training had paid off and now it was resolved to protect Galar instead of destroying it. As a parting gift, it recharged both Ash and Leon's Dynamax Bands.[5]

- Eternatus' Eternamax form made an appearance in One, Two, Three.
- Eternatus is the first Legendary Pokémon to be captured by a main character, although the Trainer doesn't technically keep it.
