Electivire (Japanese: エレキブル, HepburnErekiburu) (e-LECT-uh-vire[1]) is an Electric-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IV. It is Magmortar's counterpart.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Electivire is a strong, yellow Electric-type that resembles a yeti or Sasquatch and has two long black tails with red tips that look like LED light bulbs. It hangs around power plants to feed and gain more power.

Behavior[]

Electivire tend to be short-tempered, aggressive Pokémon. They also often act brashly without consequences; they are known to charge headfirst into the attacks of foes while attempting to land blows of their own. generally at the cost of compromising the power grids in the local areas. Conversely, a single Electivire can also produce enough electricity to power a city if harnessed properly. When excited, Electivire will pound their chests, letting loose showers of sparks and thundering roars. Their power correlates with their heart rate, spiking tremendously during battle.

Natural abilities[]

Electivire's special ability Motor Drive renders the foe's Electric attacks useless and just powers up the speed of Electivire, making it a formidable foe.

Evolution[]

Electivire evolves from Electabuzz when traded while holding an Electirizer. It is the final evolutionary form of Elekid.

Trivia[]

  • Electivire's debut episode number is the same as its National Pokédex Number; 466.

Origin[]

Electivire is based on a gorilla or orangutan and possibly Bigfoot or a Yeti. Its antennae are based on Tesla coils, and the circular symbol on its back resembles an electrical outlet.

Etymology[]

Electivire is a portmanteau of electric and live wire (a wire that has electricity flowing through it).

Erekiburu is a portmanteau of electric and cable or brutal.
