Biography[]

Eldritch was a sailor for 20 years before moving in to Sinnoh region. He was also friends with Byron, who introduced him to a woman, who eventually became Eldritch's wife.[1] Eldritch and his wife later had a son, which made Eldritch happy to have a family.[2]

Diamond & Pearl arc[]

Eldritch was hired as a captain of the ship, and was greeted by his son and wife, who wished him luck in his new job. He thought of the job to be easy, as the ship had no passangers and he'd have to worry about the waves on his way to Fullmoon Island. However, his subordinate reported that the food was missing: Diamond ate it all. Diamond was laid back about the issue, to which the captain promised to kick him off the ship. He went to discuss with his sailors, who have fallen asleep. Eldritch realized they were actually unconscious, before seeing that the culprit was a Gliscor, who started attacking. Diamond took on Gliscor, surprising the captain, as this was a powerful opponent. Using Don and Tru, Diamond was able to beat Gliscor, pleasing the captain.

Diamond also gave Eldritch a letter from Byron, which made the former realize that Byron was cashing in on his "favor". As Eldritch was not controlling the ship, it nearly crashed into a rock, but the group was saved by Riley and his Lucario.[1] Eldritch took Riley and Diamond to Iron Island, where the latter two started their training.[3] Eldritch watched as Riley's egg hatched into a Riolu. This made Eldritch happy, and remembered his son's birth. He was also angry at the roughnecks for trying to harm the egg. He also wondered where Diamond was, and saw him running away from a Steelix, who tried to show affection for protecting the Pokémon of the island. After Diamond and Riley concluded their training, Diamond sailed with Eldritch back to the mainland.[2]

While speaking to Cyrus, Diamond remembered the people he met on his journey, like Eldritch. It made him think how valuable the "space" meant for him, unlike Cyrus, who wanted to recreate time and space.[4]

Platinum arc[]

Eldritch was upset, as his son was unable to wake up from his sleep, and was having nightmares. Palmer went to help Eldritch, and read in the library that they had to use a Lunar Wing to dispel those nightmares. Going on an island to find the wing, Eldritch found many Pokémon suffering the same symptoms, and wanted to cure them. Just as he went out of medicine, Cresselia appeared and cured the Pokémon, as well as Eldritch's son.[5] Palmer later confronted Darkrai, and realized that Pokémon was the cause that Eldritch's son and the Pokémon on Fullmoon Island were suffering nightmares.[6]
