Appearance[]

During her debut as Nidothing, she is usually seen wearing a full body Nidorina costume with simple, round eyes. She has a large zipper on the front of her suit.

Under the suit, Dot is a young girl with purple and pink hair with a fringe covering her purple eyes. She also wears a dark purple tank top, green pants and a Glameow inspired jacket. She would sometimes wear Snorlax slippers but is otherwise barefooted. When preparing for her livestreams or Pokémon battles, Dot would put on a black headband to pull back her hair and reveal her eyes. Although her eyes are usually covered, her face looks similar to her uncle Murdock's when uncovered.

Personality[]

As Nidothing, she acts all energetic, but will also provide advice to beginner trainers providing various subjects such as catching and battling.

When not in her Nidothing costume, Dot tends to spend most of her time in her quarters creating videos. If someone wants to talk to her, Dot has her Quaxly deliver messages to them. Dot also finds interacting with others bothersome, as shown when Liko tried talking to her and making Dot frustrated. However, Dot is slowly opening up as she was visibly touched by Liko's kindness and determination but does wonder why she wanted to be friends with her. Also, Dot does feel guilty for her unwelcoming attitude towards others as she secretly makes it up to them whether she is herself or Nidothing.

Regardless of whether being Nidothing or not, Dot is intelligent as she was the one who created an app for the Rising Volt Tacklers that is compatible with their Rotom Phones.

In the original Japanese version, she uses the gender pronoun「(ぼく)」(boku) when talking, which is primarily used by males, though can also be used by females when associated with tomboys.

Nidothing is a streamer who occasionally streams events regarding Pokémon. Being a popular streamer, she has many fans, including Liko.

When Liko was waiting for Nurse Joy to collect the order that Mollie had placed in advance, she watched one of Nidothing's streams, who was conveniently talking about the Pokémon Center.

Dot would not be seen herself for some time, where Murdock had tried to appeal to her tastes with special donuts. When Liko arrived to give the lunch box that Murdock had prepared for her, she tried to strike a conversation with Dot to little success. This resulted in her livestream being delayed slightly, though she manages to compose herself and begins reading the comments left by her followers. She soon got to Liko's comment, which she immediately realized was about her but nonetheless manages to bluff her way out. Liko then talks to her again with some success as Dot realizes that the two have some similarities and grabs the donuts from the secret shelf the following night.[1]

When the Brave Olivine arrived in Paldea, Dot noticed that her Nidothing costume smelled off and let it hang on the ship's deck. Liko ended up seeing the costume while running around and wondered if Dot was hiding something, though decided to put it aside as she had other matters on hand. After she had the time to do so, she asked Dot about the costume, who was worried that her Nidothing persona would be exposed. Instead, Liko asked if she was a Nidothing superfan, which baffled and annoyed her as she realized Liko had not made the connection she had thought.

When the Brave Olivine needed repairing, the group used this as a chance to get some rest and have a picnic. Liko wanted Dot to have fun, but she respected Dot's decision to stay alone, but she still wanted to share the happiness and enjoyment with her friend. Liko then maked an arrangement in the ship so that Dot and Ludlow could make sandwiches as well and enjoy them. Dot said that it was a pain but was shown to smile and be happy about it as well. After that Dot speaks about having fun with your Pokémon during picnics in her livestream, which she earlier hesitated to as she had never been on a picnic.[2]

After Liko failed to return from shopping in Levincia, the Volt Tacklers realized that someone had induced amnesia in her as she did not want to return to the group. To that end, Dot contacted Iono, resulting in a chase across town that helped restore Liko's memory of recent events.[3] Friede gives Dot a Poké Ball. Quaxly requests her to be their official Trainer, which she accepts, capturing it in the Poké Ball. Liko commends Dot for catching her first Pokémon. Later on, the teams split up to find Liko's pendant after noticing the Ancient Poké Ball glow. Dot follows Quaxly to the cargo ship, and are encountered and frightened by Spinel's Beheeyem. Quaxly saves her with a Wing Attack behind Beheeyem, causing it to retreat. After Dot recognizes Beheeyem, she calls the rest of the team, but the signal is already being jammed. With the ship horn ready to leave, and pressured by Spinel's Magneton and Beheeyem, Dot points up to the sky and orders Quaxly to fire Water Gun up there. After being cornered by Spinel's Pokémon, including her Quaxly getting hit by Electro Ball, Sprigatito saves Quaxly by hitting Spinel's Magneton with Quick Attack, eventually reuniting the three teams. As Dot's Pokémon gets hit by a combo move from Magneton and Beheeyem, they are eventually saved again by Sprigatito. She and Liko work together with their Pokémon to defeat Beheeyem. After Spinel's Magneton faints thanks to Roy's Pokémon, he sends out an Umbreon, which the Pokémon struggle against. That battle is soon aborted after Liko requests and successfully retrieves the pendant. She is then transported by Arboliva back to the airship. After being encouraged by Quaxly, Dot eventually tells Liko that she's not a Nidothing fan, but that she's the real Nidothing, causing Liko and Sprigatito to scream in panic.[4]

she featured in the latest Nidothing video. She then contacts Friede about a storm approaching. After the storm finishes, she invites Liko and Roy to her room and after being questioned, explains how Wattrel can deliver the most power in battle, after which Roy becomes satisfied and prepares "Special Training Time" with his two Pokemon out on the deck.[5]

Dot gets involved in a conversation with Liko and Roy about whether the Pikachu Roy fought in the previous episode can fly, believing that it can't. Roy becomes curious and excited about how Friede's Pikachu became captain, along with Liko. With Liko and Roy agreeing on a suggestion that they speak to Friede, Dot initiates a video of Liko and Roy to 'solve the mystery of the Flying Pikachu', with Dot recording it. After the two heroes become disappointed, Dot suggests to them that they ask the rest of the crew members. After Orla initiates an announcement for them to gather, Friede caves in and tells them his whole story.[6]

Dot records another livestream, which becomes malfunctioned after her computer breaks down, forcing her to cancel it. After Friede's announcement to the rest of the team that they'll be heading to Steelbound Town, Dot makes an urgent call requesting a new microphone for her live-stream. Liko suggests that she should join in for this mission, which flusters her, before being encouraged by Roy to do so. Murdock's argument causes Dot to whimper with stress. As the Olivine parks in the desert, Dot chooses to go, coming out of a different door which confuses the rest of the team. After Dot agrees to join Liko and Roy to adventure together, Dot has already bought an item, putting it in her shopping bag. Dot explores the town further, which leads to a vintage shop which excites everybody else. Dot finds an item in the shop that looks like a microphone, and purchases it, before losing sight of Liko and Roy. Just before she was able to contact them though, they overhear an angry male worker, and agree with Quaxly to go together. The worker is trying to take his hammer back from a wild Tinkatink, which ends up with him pushing the Tinkatink to the ground and walking away, causing it to cry and drop its own hammer to the floor. Dot offers Tinkatink's hammer back, which it snatches angrily. Tinkatink notices Dot's recently bought prop and grabs it, which panics her, before aligning it to the ideal shape with its own hammer. Dot scans the Pokemon with her Pokedex, before realizing that the Tinkatink is making a hammer with Dot's microphone. After Roy calls her from a distance, Dot and Quaxly leave the Tinkatink alone and come to Roy and Liko, accusing them of running off, before heading back to the ship together. Murdock rushes over and hugs her for going into town and purchasing something on her own, before she pushes him back for "over-doing it". After hearing Orla's anger down at the basement about who tampered with Orla's metal parts, Dot feels one of the bent metals, and suggests that it could be related to an event that happened earlier. She then finds a hole in the Olivine's wall and wonders what's been going on, suggesting that another Pokemon may have done this instead of Tinkatink. They overhear Tinkatink's crying, noticing the Pokemon in trouble. She grabs the Tinkatink running down the bottom of the stairs, the same one that turned Dot's microphone into a hammer, which the Pokemon shows. Dot realizes that all Tinkatink wanted to do was to show her its hammer it created, crediting it for its creation, which pleases the Metalsmith Pokemon. Liko, Roy and their Pokemon overhear the noise in the basement and becomes curious about why it's with Dot. After Dot mentions that Tinkatink's passion is metal, Murdock joins in and accuses the Tinkatink of stealing the ship's metal, which frightens it and causes it to run away again. Murdock orders everyone to go after it, while Dot unsuccessfully tries to restrain them. Eventually, Dot finds Tinkatink trapped in the basement and protects it, reassuring the other members that the ship's metal has been stolen by a different Pokemon, before explaining why Tinkatink came to see her, the hole in the wall was caused by a different Pokemon, and mentioning that that Pokemon is "the real thief". Friede arrives at the basement, agreeing with Dot's thoughts. Dot breathes a sigh of relief and reassures Tinkatink. A bang is heard, revealed to be Orthworm trapped inside the rope of Ludlow's fishing rod, before breaking free and pouncing on Tinkatink's hammer, causing everyone else to dodge as the hammer drops into Orthworm's possession and a hole is created in the floor of the basement. After noticing Tinkatink's hammer being stolen, Dot promises that they'll help get it back. They fall through the hole and ignore Orla's orders to hold back. She helped lure the Orthworm in by commanding her Quaxly to use Water Gun to create a ring with a hole around the sand. After the Orthworm was lured in, she commands Pound to split Orthworm's possession of Tinkatink's hammer, whcih Tinkatink was able to retrieve and finish off Orthworm with it. At sunset, Dot captures Tinkatink and heads back to the ship. A moment later, Dot makes another Nidothing video, which becomes disrupted again after Tinkatink, making its first appearance in the video, configures the zip of Nidothing's costume.[7]

After losing to Rayquaza, Dot enrols at Naranja Academy alongside Liko and Roy. The trio enter the terastal course and eventually set off to complete their basic trials. They first go to Cortondo for Liko's trial,[8] then Artazon for Roy's trial[9] and finally Levincia for Dot's trial.[10] At Levincia, Dot is conflicted as to whether she should take the trial as her Nidothing persona due to her fear of cameras, but overcomes her fear and steels her resolve. After researching Iono's battle style, she faces her with Quaxly who learns Liquidation during the battle. She successfully teratallizes for the first time, and although she loses the battle, Iono passes her. She is then requested by Clavell to advise him on social media for the betterment of Naranja Academy.
