Dondozo (Japanese: ヘイラッシャ, Hepburn: Heirassha) (DAHN-DOH-zoh[1]) is a Water-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Dondozo is a large, blue catfish-like Pokémon with white fins, whiskers, and underbelly. It has six frills on its head that resemble the headbands worn by sushi chefs, and its tongue resembles a sushi geta when fully extended.
Shiny Dondozo is yellow instead of blue.
Behavior[]
Dondozo rely on Tatsugiri to obtain food, as they are not very smart or fast. They are very gluttonous due to their large size, requiring tons of food on a daily basis. The two Pokémon get along very well, as Tatsugiri allows Dondozo to find ample food, while Dondozo protects Tatsugiri from natural predators.
Natural abilities[]
Dondozo can put Tatsugiri in its mouth to protect it from natural enemies, which in turn causes Dondozo to become significantly stronger and harder to defeat with Tatsugiri's planning. Dondozo are also the only Pokémon to use the unique move Order Up.

Trivia[]
- Dondozo and Tatsugiri are the first two Pokémon to form a symbiotic relationship with each other.
Origin[]
Dondozo is based on the wels catfish, a large species of catfish that is native to Europe and was introduced to Spain. It also has traits of a sushi chef.
Etymology[]
Dondozo's name pulls from words like "Don", meaning "sir" in Spanish, どうぞ dōzo (Japanese for "please (help yourself)", and possibly "bozo", a big and stupid person since Dondozo isn't smart or fast and rely on Tatsugiri for getting food for it.
