The Diploma is an item introduced in Generation I.

In all of the core series games, the diploma is an item rewarded for completing the Pokédex. It has no gameplay function, and is just honorary. In games taking place in the Kanto region, the diploma is rewarded by the Game Freak lead developer in the Celadon Condominiums.
