Detect is a status-affecting Fighting-type move introduced in Generation II.

Description

Games	Description
GSC	Evades attack that turn. It may fail.
RSE	Evades attack, but may fail if used in succession.
FRLG	Enables the user to evade all attacks. It may fail if used in succession.
DPPtHGSS BWB2W2	It enables the user to evade all attacks. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession.
XYORAS SMUSUM	Enables the user to evade all attacks. Its chance of failing rises if it is used in succession.

Effects

In Battle

When Detect is used it will protect the user from the effects of the opponents move during the same turn, it will not work, however, against the effects of the move Perish Song. If Detect was successful in the previous turn, moves such as Protect, Endure or Detect will have only 50% accuracy.

In the Mystery Dungeon series, Detect grants the user the protect status blocking most attacks for as long as the status stays active, which usually lasts 3-6 turns. When Feint is used, the protect status is broken early. Pokémon under the protect status skill take damage from items and explosions.
