Dedenne (Japanese: デデンネ, HepburnDedenne) is an Electric/Fairy-type Pokémon introduced in Generation VI.

Biology

Physiology

Dedenne is a small, rodent-like Pokémon that resembles a mouse, a hamster or a gerbil. Most of its round, pudgy body is a vibrant orange color, and it has a cream-colored belly. It has a very long, black, wire-like tail and spiny, black whiskers on its reddish-orange cheek patches. It has small oval ears that are black on the outside with cream-colored insides. Dedenne has small, black eyes, a tiny black nose, and small, sharp incisor teeth. Its feet and paws are short and stubby, with tiny digits.

Being a member of the Pikachu-family Pokémon, Dedenne can emit electricity from its cheek pouches.

Behavior

Dedenne can send and receive electrical waves using its whiskers in order to communicate with others over vast distances. It uses its long cord-like tail to absorb electricity.

Evolution

Dedenne does not evolve.

Trivia

  • Dedenne has a coloration similar to Raichu.
  • They communicate through the antenna on their checks as seen in A battle of Aerial Mobility!
  • Despite being a Fairy Type, it can only learn two Fairy Type moves.
  • In Super Smash Bros., Dedenne is one of the Pokémon that can be freed from Pokéballs. During this time, it uses the move Discharge.

Etymology

Dedenne's name comes from denki (electricity) and antenne (antenna).
