Dayton's father hosted the Chinchou parade a few years until he passed the role to his son. Team Rocket intervened, causing Ash, Dayton and Chinchou to be separated from Misty, Brock and Dayton's father. With a few complications, Dayton, Ash and Chinchou made it to the sea. After Team Rocket were defeated for the second time, Dayton's father witnessed the Chinchou swimming away from them.
