Dan's father was the owner of a spa resort, which featured the sand baths. He allowed Ash, Iris and his son to investigate about the mysterious Sandile, who were digging in the sand. After the heroes rescued the Pokémon, Dan's father was pleased, as the sand baths were turned into hot springs, allowing Dan's friends to take a bath in them.
