Announcer

The Sinnoh league tournament at Lily of the Valley Island is heading into the final stretch!

[Inside the stadium, Ash, with Pikachu, and Tobias are on opposite sides of the battlefield.]

Announcer

And the competitors in today's first semifinal round are Ash! Facing off against Tobias!

[The battlefield platform descends and changes.]

Announcer

Now, let's see our battlefield for today. Aha! It's grass!

[A grass platform rises up onto the battlefield.]

Announcer

So folks, prepare yourselves for a super-heated, six-on-six, full battle!

Brock

The semifinals.

Barry

Can't wait!

Dawn

Go Ash! Do your best!

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup! Piplup!

Narrator

Claiming victory after defeating his rival Paul, Ash has advanced to the semifinals which if victorious, sets the stage for his appearance in the finals!

Ash Ketchum

Hm. Yes! I've got to win!

[The opening theme "We Will Carry On!" and title card plays.]

Announcer

And now let's see our competitors' first Pokémon.

[Tobias deploys Darkrai.]

Ash Ketchum

And there's his Darkrai.

Pokédex

Darkrai. The Pitch-Black Pokémon. Darkrai can cause people and Pokémon to have nightmares.

Dawn

Darkrai sounds kind of scary.

[Cut to Meowth, excitedly running down the stairs carrying a tray of memorabilia with a strap.]

Meowth

Dig that! That dude's got a Darkrai!

James

Oh, my my!

Jessie

(To James and Meowth) Get your heads out of the sky! Make money, not small talk! Sell, sell, and sell some more!

James

No fair.

Meowth

We can sell and see Darkrai as well.

Jessie

(To James and Meowth) Work now! (Raising and waving a book in the air) You can't enjoy the show running on an empty stomach, so fill her up!

James

With Pokémon memorabilia, too!

Meowth

Don't be shy! Buy!

Ash Ketchum

OK, Heracross, I choose you!

Ash's Heracross

Heracross!

Dawn

Wow, Ash is gonna use Heracross!

Brock

Since Heracross is a Bug-type Pokémon, it's a good match up against a Dark-type Pokémon like Darkrai.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Referee

It has been determined that Ash gets the first move. Begin!

Ash Ketchum

Heracross, use Hyper Beam, now!

Ash's Heracross

Hera...

[Heracross' horn glows white.]

Tobias

Darkrai, Ice Beam, let's go!

Announcer

It's a Hyper Beam and Ice Beam collision!

[The two moves collide together, causing an explosion.]

Announcer

And it's a draw!

Ash Ketchum

Use Horn Attack!

Ash's Heracross

Heracross...

[Heracross glows its horn and charges toward its target.]

Tobias

Darkrai, use Dark Void!

[Darkrai hits Heracross with Dark Void. Heracross grinds across the grass and goes to sleep.]

Ash's Heracross

(Snoring)

Announcer

And Dark Void's got Heracross fast asleep. What's Ash's next move?

Ash Ketchum

Heracross, Sleep Talk!

[Heracross, with eyes closed, glows its horn.]

Brock

Excellent move! Heracross can still use its moves while it's sleeping.

[Heracross hits and blasts Darkrai with Megahorn.]

Announcer

And a powerful Megahorn throws Darkrai straight back!

Ash Ketchum

That's great that you used Megahorn, Heracross!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Tobias

Darkrai, use Dream Eater!

[Darkrai glows its eyes and deploys a hologram to charge at Heracross. Heracross is knocked out, fainted.]

Ash Ketchum

Heracross, no!

Ash's Heracross

(Weakly) Heracross...

Referee

Heracross is unable to battle! Darkrai wins!

Tobias

You'll need more than type advantage to defeat my Darkrai.

[Ash groans. Cut to Team Rocket.]

Meowth

Darkrai packs a punch with serious mojo.

James

Truly! Troubles for the twerp.

Jessie

(To James and Meowth) Back to work! Focus, Focus!

Man 1

Hey! Got any Darkrai merchandise?

Girl 1

Yeah! Any toys?

Jessie

Any? every toy!

Ash Ketchum

Heracross, return!

[Ash returns Heracross.]

Ash Ketchum

Awesome. Now you deserve a good rest.

Announcer

And now, for Ash's second Pokémon.

Ash Ketchum

OK, Torkoal. I chose you!

Ash's Torkoal

Torkoal, Tor!

Ash Ketchum

Torkoal, Flamethrower!

Ash's Torkoal

Torkoal!

[Torkoal obeys.]

Tobias

Now, use Dark Pulse!

[Dark Pulse overpowers Flamethrower. It hits and blasts Torkoal into the wall.]

Ash Ketchum

Torkoal, no!

[Torkoal faints. The crowd cheers.]

Referee

Torkoal is unable to battle. Darkrai wins!

Dawn

Poor Torkoal.

Brock

They beat Torkoal with one move.

Barry

What's Ash gonna do?

Dawn's Piplup

(Determined) Piplup! Pip

Ash Ketchum

Torkoal, return!

[Ash returns Torkoal.]

Ash Ketchum

You get a good rest, Torkoal, and thanks.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika?

Ash Ketchum

Don't worry, Pikachu, Leave it to me. (Groans)

Announcer

Tobias' overwhelmingly powerful Darkrai has Ash falling behind quickly. Will Ash's next Pokémon turn the tide?

Ash Ketchum

Gible, I choose you!

Ash's Gible

Gib!

[The crowd cheers.]

Dawn

Go Gible! Do it!

Barry

If you don't want to get fined, don't lose this!

[Cut to Team Rocket.]

Man 2

Hey, juice please!

[Team Rocket perk up and face the customer.]

Jessie

One juice, with ease.

Tobias

Darkrai, get in close!

[Darkrai obeys.]

Ash Ketchum

Quick, Gible, use Rock Smash!

Ash's Gible

Gible!

[Gible hits Darkrai with Rock Smash.]

Announcer

And Gible nails a super effective Rock Smash!

Tobias

Darkrai, use Ice Beam!

[Darkrai shoots Ice Beam multiple times. Gible runs to dodge the move.]

Ash Ketchum

All right, Gible, use Draco Meteor!

[Gible shoots a meteor up in the sky. Dawn and Brock watch it in excitement.]

Dawn

There it goes!

Brock

Yeah, and it looks good!

[The meteor explodes into groups of meteorites.]

Tobias

Dodge it!

[Darkrai hovers around to dodge the attacks.]

Tobias

Now use Dark Pulse!

[Darkrai hits, blasts and faints Gible with Dark Pulse.]

Ash Ketchum

Gible!

Ash's Pikachu

(Shocked) Pika!

Referee

Gible is unable to battle! Darkrai wins!

Announcer

Tobias is one formidable opponent, having already defeated three Pokémon using only his Darkrai.

Jessie

Hey guys? Is it me, or is Darkrai strong?

James

What a keen grasp of the obvious.

Meowth

Darkrai's been kicking it the whole time. That twerp better get his battle on soon, or else, bang zoom.

Jessie

All right, exactly when did you cross behind twerp enemy lines?

Meowth

Since I got a grip on that we're all joined at the hip.

Jessie

How so?

Meowth

That twerp's beaten the pants off of us many times, but he's getting the pants beaten off of him, so the trickle-down theory proves we don't deserve to have pants in the first place.

Jessie & James

Point taken.

Barry

Darkrai is strong.

Dawn

Ash has got his hands full.

Brock

That Darkrai is in a league of its own. This is one really tough battle. Come on, Ash, you've got to overcome this somehow

Ash Ketchum

Gible, you were great. Now get a good rest.

Tobias

Ash! I must give credit where credit is due when it comes to your Gible's performance. Draco Meteor would have eliminated any Pokémon other than Darkrai, of course. So who's your next Pokémon?

Ash Ketchum

We're just getting started. Sceptile, I choose you!

Ash's Sceptile

Sceptile!

Announcer

And Ash is going with Sceptile.

Brock

Ash is planning to get the upper hand with Sceptile's speed and power.

Dawn

You can do it, Sceptile!

Dawn's Piplup

(Cheering) Piplup! Piplup!

James

This battle is positively riveting.

Jessie

My eyes are so glued to the action I can't blink.

Meowth

I was having the same think!

Tobias

Darkrai, use Ice Beam!

[Darkrai obeys.]

Ash Ketchum

Sceptile, use Quick Attack!

[Sceptile jumps to dodge Ice Beam, exerts and dashes across.]

Barry

Whoa, fast!

Dawn

Go, Sceptile, awesome!

Tobias

Dodge it!

[Darkrai ducks to dodge the attack as the two Pokemon battle in close range.]

Ash Ketchum

Sceptile missed! Sceptile, use Leaf Storm!

Tobias

Ice Beam!

Ash Ketchum

Sceptile, no!

Tobias

Ice Beam!

[Darkrai hits and blasts Sceptile with Ice Beam.]

Ash's Sceptile

(Hurt) Sceptile!

Ash Ketchum

No! Sceptile!

[Sceptile lands on both knees and an arm.]

Tobias

Your plan to overpower Darkrai's not going to work. Now Darkrai, use Dark Void!

[Sceptile is hit and under the effect of Dark Void. It starts sleeping.]

Ash's Sceptile

(Hurt) Sceptile!

Dawn

(Dreading) Sceptile!

Brock

If Sceptile gets hit again, it's not going to be good.

Ash's Sceptile

(Snoring)

Ash Ketchum

Wake up! Sceptile, you've got to wake up!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

Tobias

Darkrai, Dream Eater!

[Dream Eater digs into Sceptile. Sceptile is immersed into a potential nightmare.]

Ash Ketchum

(Echoes) Sceptile, come on! Snap out of it! Wake up, Sceptile!

[Sceptile wakes up and snaps out of its dream.]

Announcer

Sceptile's back with us again!

Tobias

What?

Ash Ketchum

All right, Sceptile, use Leaf Blade!

Ash's Sceptile

Sce...ptile!

[Sceptile hits Darkrai a couple times with Leaf Blade. Darkrai faints.]

Referee

Darkrai is unable to battle. Sceptile wins!

[The crowd cheers.]

Announcer

I can't believe it! Tobias' Darkrai has been defeated!

Ash Ketchum

Great, Sceptile!

Ash's Sceptile

Sceptile!

Dawn

Wow, they did it!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Barry

Well, it's about time.

Brock

Yeah, but don't forget Tobias still has five Pokémon left. Who knows what he's got up his sleeve?

Announcer

Ladies and gentlemen, as incredible as it sounds, this is the very first defeat we've seen for Tobias' Darkrai here at the Sinnoh league!

[Tobias returns Darkrai.]

Announcer

Now we await the identity of his second Pokémon.

Ash Ketchum

So, who's next?

Tobias

You've definitely proved you've earned your spot in the semifinal round! To think I'm using my second Pokémon right here in this poké ball. Let's go!

[Tobias deploys Latios. Latios speeds across the arena, swoops up and twists several times. It hovers on Tobias' side, proudly. The crowd cheer and applaud.]

Announcer

And Tobias' second Pokémon is Latios!

Ash's Pikachu

(Shocked) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

It's a Latios!

Pokédex

Latios. The Eon Pokémon. Latios is highly intelligent, and can fly faster than a jet by tucking in its wings.

Brock

Just how powerful is this guy? First, he uses Darkrai, and now it's Latios!

Barry

Yeah, but with Sceptile's speed, Ash can definitely win.

Ash Ketchum

I'm not gonna lose no matter what kind of Pokémon he uses! Now, use Leaf Blade!

[Sceptile obeys.]

Tobias

Latios, use Giga Impact!

[The two Pokemon collide together, causing an explosion. Sceptile drops and faints on the ground. Ash grunts.]

Ash Ketchum

Sceptile, no!

Referee

Sceptile is unable to battle. Latios wins!

Announcer

Latios took out Sceptile with just one move. To say Latios is strong is an understatement.

Meowth

That Giga Impact's power was off the charts.

James

And when they collided, Sceptile was moving at quite a clip.

Ash Ketchum

Sceptile, return. You battled really hard. Now you take a good rest.

Ash Ketchum

OK, Swellow, I choose you!

Ash's Swellow

Swellow!

[The two Pokemon ascend and roar at one another. The crowd look up.]

Brock

A battle in the sky!

Dawn

Ash'll be great!

Ash Ketchum

All right, Swellow, use Quick Attack!

[Latios ascends to dodge Quick Attack.]

Brock

Latios dodged!

Dawn

It was so close!

Announcer

And it's a sky battle between Swellow and Latios! Incredible!

Ash's Swellow

Swellow!

Ash Ketchum

OK, Swellow, fly down, now!

[Swellow obeys.]

Tobias

Latios, after it!

[Latios follows Swellow.]

Ash Ketchum

Now use Aerial Ace!

[Swellow flies up high, then swoops back down using Aerial Ace.]

Tobias

Quick, Latios, Luster Purge!

[Latios shoots a purple beam, hitting Swellow directly sand causing it to fall down.]

Ash Ketchum

Swellow, no!

[Swellow crashes to the ground, fainting.]

Referee

Swellow is unable to battle. Latios gets the win!

Meowth

Stupid one-sided wipe out.

[Team Rocket whimper.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, Swellow, return!

[Ash returns Swellow.]

Ash Ketchum

Swellow, you were awesome, so now you go and take a good rest. (Groans)

Dawn

Oh no! At this point, Ash only has one Pokémon left.

Barry

Come on, Ash! You lose and I'm gonna have to fine you!

Brock

Ash, you can win!

Dawn

It's time for a comeback!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Announcer

And it's crunch time for Ash. Will he be able to pull himself together and get back into the race?

Ash's Pikachu

(Worried) Pika...

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu.

Ash's Pikachu

(Startled) Pi?

Ash Ketchum

You know I'm not about to give up. I say, let's show him how strong we are!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika? (Determined) Pika-Pikachu!

Ash Ketchum

So, let's do this! Pikachu, I choose you!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika-Pika! Pika!

[The crowd cheers and applauds.]

Announcer

And Ash chooses Pikachu for his last Pokémon!

Tobias

I must say you've battled well so far. You've earned my respect. But, this is our last bout.

Ash Ketchum

Well, not if I can help it! 'Cause I'm winning this for sure!

Tobias

That's good. Let's do our best.

Dawn

Pikachu! Come on!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup! Piplup!

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, let's go! Use Quick Attack, full speed!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

[Pikachu obeys and charges close to the target.]

Tobias

Dodge it!

[In slow motion, Latios dodges the move.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, use Volt Tackle!

[Pikachu surrounds itself in electricity and charges toward the target again.]

Tobias

Latios! Use Giga Impact!

[Latios hits Pikachu with the move.]

Ash's Pikachu

(Pained) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu!

[Pikachu returns to Ash's side.]

Jessie

I think there's a slice of twerp toast on the field.

Meowth

Wrong again! That Pikachu's extra strength. No-one knows that better than us, if you catch my drift!

James

Drift caught!

Tobias

Latios, Giga Impact!

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, here it comes!

Ash's Pikachu

(Focused) Pika!

[Latios closes in using the move.]

Ash Ketchum

All right, Iron Tail!

[Pikachu goes on the attack with Iron Tail, but is blasted back by Giga Impact.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika...

Barry

Wow, Pikachu's move didn't do a thing!

Dawn

No! What'll they do?

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!(Worried)

Brock

There's still time. Something's got to work!

Tobias

Let's wrap this up! Latios, descend and then use Luster Purge!

[Latios flies up high, then swoops down and gets ready to fire Luster Purge. Ash gets an idea.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, dodge and then jump on Latios!

[Luster Purge is fired. Pikachu jumps backward to dodge the beam. Latios swoops across, but Pikachu jumps and sticks on Latios' back. Latios reacts in shock while Pikachu struggles.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Thunderbolt, let's go!

[Pikachu, holding on, uses Thunderbolt to wear down Latios. Barry, Piplup and Dawn yelp in excitement.]

Brock

Yes! That'll cause some real damage for sure!

Barry

Yeah! Go, Pikachu!

Dawn's Piplup

(Thrilled) Piplup, Piplup!

Tobias

Toss Pikachu!

[Latios swoops and turns in various directions, but Pikachu hangs on.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!

[Pikachu uses Thunderbolt to wear down Latios.]

Tobias

All right, Latios, use Light Screen!

[Latios surrounds itself in a bright aura.]

Ash's Pikachu

(Annoyed) Pika?

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Thunderbolt, once more!

[Pikachu uses Thunderbolt again. Light Screen bounces the move off.]

Brock

The effects of the Thunderbolt have been cut in half.

Dawn

Please, Pikachu, hang in there!

Tobias

Latios, make a quick turn!

Ash Ketchum

Not gonna happen! Use Thunderbolt!

[Pikachu uses Thunderbolt again. Light Screen bounces the move off.]

Brock

That Light Screen will stay in effect for quite a while!

Ash's Pikachu

(Determined) Pika!

[Pikachu tries to use the move for as long as possible.]

Tobias

Latios, ascend and let's get this over with!

[Latios obeys and flies up high.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Thunderbolt! You can do it!

[Pikachu continues using Thunderbolt.]

Tobias

Quick, descend and toss it off!

[Latios immediately descends. Pikachu loses grip of Latios and starts falling.]

Tobias

Use Luster Purge, now!

[Latios swoops back to the ground, faces Pikachu and prepares to fire Luster Purge.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, use Volt Tackle!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

[In mid-air, Pikachu uses Volt Tackle and charges toward Latios. With an electric aura, Pikachu tries to over power Luster Purge and keep going. Pikachu gets close to Latios.]

Ash Ketchum

(Shouts) Now! Use Iron Tail!

[The two Pokemon collide together, causing an explosion and turbulence which Tobias and Ash brace. The explosion rocks the whole stadium. The monitor outside the stadium flickers. The smoke clears. Everyone in the crowd, Tobias and Ash watch on, concerned. AS the smoke clears, both Pikachu and Latios have fainted.]

Referee

Pikachu and Latios are both unable to battle. All six of Ash's Pokémon have been eliminated, so moving onto the finals is Tobias, the victor!

[The crowd roars into a frenzy.]

Announcer

And that's it! It's over! Tobias has defeated Ash and will be moving on to the finals!

[Ash holds Pikachu.]

Ash Ketchum

You okay, Pikachu?

Ash's Pikachu

Pika pi.

Ash Ketchum

Thanks, Pikachu. You battled really hard!

Ash Ketchum

Tobias!

Tobias

Ash, that was a good battle. I thank you.

Ash Ketchum

I learned a lot from our battle, so thank you. And lots of luck in the finals!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Dawn

He really lost.

Dawn's Piplup

(Upset) Piplup.

Barry

He battled so hard as well.

Brock

Yeah, true. Still, Ash was amazing. It's the first time Ash has made it into the top four!

Meowth

Close, but no cigar.

James

He gave it the old college try.

Jessie

Hm. No soap.

Man 1

Excuse me, but could I have my juice?

Girl 1

Yeah, and I've been waiting here too!

Jessie

Coming right up!

James

Service with a smile!

Meowth

Line up, but don't block the aisle!

Wobbuffet

Wob-bu-buffet!

[The screen fades to black. Back in the arena, Magmortar faints.]

Announcer

And Tobias seals his victory using only his Darkrai.

Referee

Magmortar is unable to battle. Darkrai gets the win!

Announcer

The winner of the Sinnoh league tournament at Lily of the Valley island is Tobias!

[Tobias waves and smiles. Ash & the gang in the crowd cheer back. At night-time, fireworks go off. Tobias is standing with Cynthia and another member on the podium.]

Announcer

And now, we bring down the curtain on another exciting Sinnoh league.

[The trio turn around and watch the torch as the fireworks disappear and the torch extinguishes.]

Announcer

So, as the Sinnoh league flame quietly extinguishes, we celebrate the remarkable efforts of all our trainers.

[The crowd cheers. The screen fades to black. The next day, Ash is outside the Stadium. Dawn arrives and playfully pushes Ash.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Dawn

Ash!

Ash Ketchum

(Smiles) Hey, Dawn.

Dawn

Well, that's that.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah.

Dawn

I know we've been traveling for a long time, but it feels like it's gone by so quickly!

Brock

(Calling) Hey, our journey's not over yet!

Ash & Dawn

Huh?

Brock

You see, our journey's just getting underway.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, Brock, I hear you. Being a Pokémon Master's still my dream!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pikachu!

Dawn

Of course! And I've got lots of work to do to become top coordinator! Right?

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup!

Dawn

See? Piplup knows!

[Ash, Dawn, Pikachu and Piplup laugh together.]

Brock

(To himself) It's so great to see Ash and Dawn pressing ahead and following their dreams. But what about me? Am I doing the same thing?

Barry

Ash!

Brock

Huh?

Barry

(Angrily) OK, I admit it: You're a teensy bit stronger than me, but you need to become a whole lot stronger! For when I wipe the floor with you in our next battle! Later!

[Barry dashes off.]

Ash Ketchum

I'll get stronger. Because I have to get stronger.

Narrator

And so, with the Sinnoh league Lily of the Valley Tournament behind them, all our heroes have a lot to think about. And for Ash and Pikachu, that means the exciting pathway to victory.

[The caption "To Be Continued" shows at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
