DP182: An Old Family Blend!/Transcript

This is a transcript of the Pokémon: DP Sinnoh League Victors episode: "An Old Family Blend!".

[A flock of Wingull call. Ash, with Dawn and Brock, laugh in excitement as he points to the island up ahead.]

Ash Ketchum

There! Lily of the Valley island!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

We're finally here, yes!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pikachu!

Narrator

As a flock of welcoming Wingull mark the spot, our heroes' ferry cuts through the water as it closes in on Lily of the Valley Island, site of the upcoming Sinnoh League.

[As they arrive, a large group of people are chattering.]

Dawn

Wow, Piplup, what a crowd.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Brock

Yeah, and they're not just trainers here, either. There are also media reporters and Pokémon fans here from all over the world. Ash, why don't you head on over to the Pokémon Center and get yourself registered now?

Ash Ketchum

Right! (To Pikachu, strong arm pose) So, ready to give it our all?

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited, punching the air) Pikachu!

Ash Ketchum

(Excited, punching the air) Me, too! And we're going to win it!

[The opening theme "We Will Carry On!" and title card plays.]

[Inside the Pokemon Center, there's a large group of people and Pokemon chattering. Ash brings his Pokedexes forward.]

Ash Ketchum

I'd like to register, please.

Nurse Joy

All right then, let's have a look!

[Nurse Joy puts Ash's Sinnoh Pokedex inside the drive. Information about Ash appears on the screen, along with his eight Gym Badges obtained.]

Nurse Joy

Looks good. All set and ready to go.

Ash Ketchum

Thank you!

Nurse Joy

So, welcome to Trainer's village. Now this is your room key.

[Brock is instantly attracted, grabbing her arms and causing her to sweatdrop.]

Brock

Nurse Joy, the key that will unlock my heart is in your beautiful hands. So open my heart and let me feel the love!

[Croagunk stabs him, causing him to scream and fall.]

Brock

Pain delay...

[Croagunk drags him across the ground.]

Brock's Croagunk

(Croaking)

Nurse Joy

Well, best of luck to you, Ash.

[Ash takes the room key.]

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Ash Ketchum

Thanks a lot, Nurse Joy!

[Team Rocket, in uniform, look around the crowds of people from outside the building.]

James

What a Sinnoh sight. Piles of Pokémon packed in from all over Sinnoh.

Jessie

Let's put a plan in place and poach those Pokémon!

Meowth

Yeah, sure, right after lunch.

Jessie

Keep the sarcasm to yourself. Our reason for living is to send bunches to the boss and get rich!

Meowth

Right! Got to keep the old eye on the ball. Let's hit this one out of the park!

[Meowth's glasses glow.]

Meowth

We'll get so rich from my plan, we'll buy the park.

Team Rocket

Batters up, and batters swing, batters win! That's right!

[The streets are full of people and Pokemon. Dawn gawks at the surroundings of Trainer's Village.]

Dawn

Wow! It's so different here. Really different than the Grand Festival!

[Conway chuckles. Dawn and Piplup shudder, startled.]

Conway

Well, it is the Sinnoh league, after all.

[Dawn and Piplup turn around and exclaim at Conway's arrival.]

Conway

The atmosphere's a lot different here. And not only that, Trainer's Village has lots of different facilities.

Dawn

Huh?

Conway

For example, the restaurant is all you can eat.

[Conway chuckles.]

Dawn

That was Conway.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup.

Ash Ketchum

He must be competing, too!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

[Inside the apartment, Dawn and Piplup excitedly hurry to the huge beds and belly flop on them.]

Dawn

Awesome!

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup!

Dawn

Like landing on a cloud! So soft!

[Ash laughs. He suddenly sees a letter on the basket of roses and picks it up.]

Ash Ketchum

What's this?

[He opens and reads the letter.]

Ash Ketchum

"Lots of luck, Ash. I'll watch and root for you via TV."

[Pikachu smiles.]

Ash Ketchum

It's Professor Oak!

[In the next scene, Ash talks to Oak on the screen.]

Ash Ketchum

Hey, thanks a lot for the note, Professor. We just got to Trainer's Village!

Professor Oak

Pleasure. I'm just sorry I can't be there in person. Quite busy these days.

Ash Ketchum

So, Professor, are all the Pokémon I left with you doing okay?

Professor Oak

Why, Ash, of course they are!

Ash Ketchum

I don't just want to use the Pokémon I found in Sinnoh for this. I want to put together a team including some of the Pokémon you've been keeping for me.

Professor Oak

Well...

Dawn

Hey, Brock, what kind? Does he have a lot?

Brock

Yeah! Ash has got all sorts of Pokémon you've never met!

Ash Ketchum

Sorry for troubling you while you're so busy, Professor, but I'd really like to get things going and see how they're all doing. So, if it's OK with you, I'll send you these five Pokémon first.

Professor Oak

Sure, Ash. And which five Pokémon will you be starting out with?

Ash Ketchum

Uh...

[Muk hugs Oak.]

Ash's Muk

Muk!

Professor Oak

This moment calls for a poem! "Muk wants to be your first call, or might teardrops fall?"

Ash's Muk

(Affectionately) Muk!

[Oak screams.]

Dawn

So cool! Way to go, Professor!

[Ash moves over to the desk.]

Ash Ketchum

Excuse me, I'd like to send these poké balls!

Jessie

Well, of course.

[Jessie rises.]

Jessie

(To herself) I sense a twerpish presence. (To Ash, smiling) I'll handle everything.

[Ash's Pokeball is in the machine. The machine turns on, electrocuting the Pokeball. James is typing on the computer.]

Jessie

And off the little darling goes. Supremely safe and sound.

[the machine turns off.]

Jessie

Now, I'm certain you're aware that we can only send one precious poké ball at a time. (Swaps one of Ash's Pokeballs for another to put in the slot) Ah, like gold. Worth more than words can say.

[Jessie puts a Lure Ball in place of one of Ash's Pokeballs on the tray.]

Jessie

We're good to go.

James

Yo ho!

Ash & Pikachu

(Disappointed) Huh?

[Jessie leaves the room with the tray of Ash's Pokeballs.]

Ash Ketchum

Uh, what about my poké balls?

James

Oh! They'll be safe within your care after we make sure the transfer was trouble-free! See?

Ash Ketchum

(Puzzled) Uh...

[Team Rocket zip out with Ash's Pokeballs on a tray.]

Jessie

Trouble-free for us!

James

Twerp poké balls on a tray!

[Meowth arrives in his buggy. It brakes to a halt.]

Meowth

Say, you mugs don't always waste time!

[Ash & friends are bored, still waiting for their Pokemon.]

Dawn

What's the delay?

Brock

I sure hope there wasn't any sort of problem.

[The door opens. dawn, Ash, Brock, Piplup,]

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!(Surprised)

Clerk

So sorry to keep you waiting. Now, may I have the poké balls that you'd like to send?

Ash Ketchum

Huh? Who are you?

Clerk

Why, I'm the Clerk in charge here.

Dawn

Then who took Ash's poké balls before?

Brock

That's right. They said they had to check them for problems.

Clerk

Huh? But I'm the only person working here today.

[Ash's gang gasp in shock. They exit the building and see Team Rocket.]

Dawn

(Pointing) That's them, over there!

Ash Ketchum

(Angrily) Look, give me back my poké balls!

Jessie

Too late, and talk about twerpish speed!

James

You have none! These poké balls are ours, son!

[Team Rocket reveal their main attire.]

Ash, Brock & Dawn

It's Team Rocket!

[The buggy drives off.]

Team Rocket

Ta!

Ash Ketchum

Stop! Give me my poké balls back!

Ash's Pikachu

(Angry) Pika!

Jessie

The minute you stop being naive, we'll think about it.

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Thunderbolt, now!

[Pikachu electrocutes Team Rocket and the buggy with Thunderbolt. The buggy explodes. Ash's Pokeballs fly out and Team Rocket blast off.]

Meowth

Of course, we kind of leaned into that blast, too.

Jessie & James

What's next? Boo hoo!

Team Rocket

We're blasting off again!

[Dawn sees the Pokeballs in the air.]

Dawn

There they go!

Ash Ketchum

This is bad! Ready, Pikachu?

Ash's Pikachu

(Determined) Pika!

[Ash and Pikachu set off.]

Dawn

Ash, we'll help, too!

Dawn's Piplup

(Determined) Lup!

Brock

Right, Dawn!

[Dawn and Brock follow Ash. In the trees, Dawn and Piplup rustle them aside and sees one of Ash's Pokeballs.]

Dawn

I found one!

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup!

Brock

There's one over there!

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, and over here!

[Ash sees his Lure Ball.]

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

Yes!

[All five of Ash's Pokeballs are gathered together.]

Ash Ketchum

We found all five of them!

[A moment later, the Pokeballs are revealed to be empty. Everyone gasps in shock. Piplup becomes upset.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup...Piplup...Piplup...

Ash Ketchum

Man, they're all empty! (Shouts) I want my Pokémon!

Ash's Corphish

(Calling)

[The gang notice Ash's Corphish.]

Ash Ketchum

Hey look, it's Corphish!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika-Pika!

[Corphish turns to Ash, confused.]

Ash's Corphish

Corphish?

[To their left, Totodile is playing on the fountain.]

Brock

And over there, wow, it's Totodile!

Ash Ketchum

Hey! Corphish and Totodile, it's me!

[Corphish, initially surprised, recognizes its trainer and happily slams him to the ground and swings its pincers about.]

Ash Ketchum

Whoa! I guess no one could ever accuse you of slowing up, Corphish. Okay, Corphish, return!

[Ash returns Corphish.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, that's one down.

[Ash screams as Totodile bites him for a moment.]

Ash Ketchum

Totodile, I'm glad to see you, too!

Ash's Totodile

To!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

Ash Ketchum

OK, Totodile, return, too! Three more to go. OK, So let's keep searching!

Everyone

Yeah!

[Snorlax grabs all the food. The chefs shudder as Snorlax eats them. Snorlax: (Happy)]

Ash Ketchum

(Scolding) Snorlax, stop that! You know that food's not yours!

Ash's Pikachu

Pikachu!

[Ash zips to apologize to the chefs.]

Ash Ketchum

Sorry! Snorlax didn't mean anything bad! I'm so sorry!

Ash's Pikachu

Pikachu.

[Snorlax affectionately picks Pikachu up and licks him. Both become happy while Ash becomes worried.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, Snorlax, return.

[Pikachu drops but sticks the landing on the desk.]

Ash Ketchum

Cool. Just two more to go!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Ash Ketchum

Hold on. This isn't the Pokémon I asked Professor Oak to send. Maybe he made a mistake.

[Professor Oak checks his notes.]

Professor Oak

Let's see. The next Pokémon I'm sending is...

[A slurping noise is heard.]

Professor Oak

Now what could that noise be?

[Heracross is tickling Bulbasaur. Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip to stop him.]

Professor Oak

Hey, that's Heracross!

[Heracross and Bulbasaur turn to Oak.]

Professor Oak

I could've sworn I had sent you along earlier when I sent Corphish and Totodile. Could I have sent the wrong Pokémon by mistake?

[Oak hears Slurping noises again. It is revealed that Heracross is slurping on Oak's forehead.]

Professor Oak

(Angrily while trying to shake him off) I have got no time for that, Heracross, so stop this nonsense right now!

[Ash & friends run as fast as they can, but they see Barry walking by and stop. Barry feels his sore head.]

Ash Ketchum

Barry!

Barry

Ash, you're here, too? Hey, good to see you guys!

Ash Ketchum

Huh? (Points at his head) Your head, something wrong with it?

Barry

Huh? (Reveals his bump) Yeah, I kind of ran into something before.

[In a flashback, Barry strolls along, but a Pokemon's shadow zooms across, hitting Barry on the head and knocking him over. Barry sits up, with a bump on his head.]

Barry

Ow, my head.

[The flashback ends.]

Barry

You know? Something smelled spicy when I hit my head.

Ash Ketchum

Something smelled spicy? (Realizes, happy) I'll bet I know! Sounds like one of my Pokémon!

Barry

Yeah, well, that means it's your fault! I want a fine in ten seconds! Nine, eight, seven, six, five, four...

Ash Ketchum

Sure, later! See you, Barry!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika-Pika!

[Ash & friends leave Barry alone, continuing their search for Pokemon.]

Barry

Come on, guys, what about my head?!

Ash Ketchum

Maybe here?

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

(Calling) Hello? Hey! It's me, Ash! Come out, bay...ah!

[A Pokemon collides with Ash and knocks him down. The Pokemon is revealed to be Bayleef.]

Ash's Bayleef

(Affectionate)

Ash Ketchum

Bayleef.

Ash's Bayleef

(Affectionate smiling)

[Bayleef rubs its antenna onto Ash's hat.]

Ash Ketchum

So it was you, Bayleef! I guess you really wanted to see me! (Laughs)

Ash's Bayleef

(Affectionate)

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, I know! It's been a long time. I'm happy to see you, too!

[Bayleef snatches Ash's Pokeball with its mouth.]

Ash Ketchum

Hold on, Bayleef!

Ash's Bayleef

Bay!

[Bayleef puts the Pokeball down.]

Ash Ketchum

I got it. Thanks!

Dawn

Wow, Bayleef really seems to like Ash!

Brock

So we've got Corphish, Totodile, Snorlax, and Bayleef. That makes a total of four Pokémon.

Dawn

There's still one more Pokémon missing.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup?

[Ash picks up the empty fifth Pokeball while stroking Bayleef.]

Ash Ketchum

All right, where's number five?

Ash's Pikachu

(Worried) Pika-Pika.

[Outside a building, Cyndaquil walks around, confused. Team Rocket are monitoring the Pokemon.]

Meowth

Lookie there. No doubt that's the twerp's Cyndaquil!

Jessie

It's twerpish.

James

Even over time!

Wobbuffet

Wob-bu, Wobbu!

Jessie

Oh, who cares? twerpish or not, let's catch it now!

Meowth

Ain't no time like this time!

[Cut to Cyndaquil, who stops. Suddenly the ground rumbles. A giant cleaning robot with the Team Rocket logo emerges above the tree]

Team Rocket

Surprise!

[The mech's six arms, containing various utensils, close in on Cyndaquil, who panics and drifts to dodge the arm attacks. In the cockpit, Jessie and James are on the controls, frustrated.]

Jessie

Agile oaf!

[Meowth presses a button.]

Meowth

Time for a smackdown!

[Cyndaquil runs into a deas-end. Team Rocket laugh threateningly and prepare to attack.]

Jessie

Agile your way out of this!

James

Chilling is your best bet!

Meowth

The best deal you'll get!

[Meowth presses the button.]

Meowth

Ready, set...

[Cyndaquil uses Flame Wheel. It rolls and weaves through the arms, closing in on the mech.]

Meowth

Incoming!

[In slow motion, the jets below the mech thrust, dodging Cyndaquil's move.]

Meowth

Alley oop!

[Cyndaquil crashes into a tree, which catches fire.]

Dawn

(Shocked) Look!

Dawn's Piplup

(Shocked) Piplup!

Brock

(Shocked) A fire!

Ash Ketchum

Fire? let's go!

[The team obey and follow the fire. Meanwhile, the mech threatens Cyndaquil by pressing its tongs.]

Jessie

Give it up, you walking fire hazard.

[Ash's gang arrive at the scene. Ash notices Cyndaquil being threatened.]

Ash Ketchum

Cyndaquil!

Ash's Pikachu

(Calling) Pika!

Cyndaquil

Cyndaquil!

Brock

We've got to do something about that fire!

Ash Ketchum

Right!

Dawn

Piplup, use Hydro Pump!

[Piplup obeys. Ash throws two Pokeballs.]

Ash Ketchum

Totodile and Corphish! Help out!

[Totodile and Corphish appear.]

Ash Ketchum

Totodile, use Water Gun, and Corphish, use Bubble Beam!

[Totodile and Corphish aim at the burning tree, extinguishing the fire.]

Cyndaquil

(Relieved) Cynda.

Ash Ketchum

All right! Great, both of you!

[Team Rocket notice Ash's group on their screen.]

Jessie

A twerp convention!

James

Whee! What do I see? Pokémon and twerps galore!

Meowth

Then let's give them what for!

Team Rocket

Full bore!

[Team Rocket's mech unleash their net on Cyndaquil, forcing it to dive to evade the attack. Team Rocket continue trying to swat Cyndquil at various points.]

Ash Ketchum

Now, Bayleef! Razor Leaf, let's go!

[Razor Leaf breaks and drops all of the mech's arms.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, Pikachu! You use Thunderbolt!

[Thunderbolt does no damage to the mech. Meowth chuckles.]

Ash Ketchum

But how?!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika?!

Meowth

You need to find a new shtick, this baby's electric-proof and super slick!

James

Where there's a will, there's a way!

Meowth

Hurray!

Wobbuffet

Wob-bu, Wobbuffet!

Meowth

Just check out my new and improved attack model magic mitts. You'll have fits!

[The mech's arms retract and open out, revealing sharp tools, including a drill and a chainsaw. The mitts point at Cyndaquil, who panics and runs behind a tree.]

Ash Ketchum

Bayleef, quick, use Razor Leaf, once more!

[Razor Leaf is broken off by the chainsaw. Meowth laughs again.]

Meowth

Please. My magic mitts aren't dumb, Nope. Who's the dope? You!

[Ash grumbles, annoyed. He deploys Snorlax.]

Ash Ketchum

Snorlax, let's go!

[Snorlax is sleeping. The mech sweatdrops.]

Team Rocket

OK...

[Ash, Dawn and Brock slump in the foreground. Ash angrily demands Snorlax.]

Ash Ketchum

Come on, Snorlax, wake up! (Pushes Snorlax) Use Body Slam!

[Snorlax simply leans over to the mech, which wobbles and falls to the ground on its side, causing Team Rocket to shudder. Snorlax rolls away.]

Ash Ketchum

Totodile and Corphish, use Water Gun and Bubble Beam!

Dawn

Piplup, use Hydro Pump!

[The three Pokemon attack Team Rocket with their Water-type moves. Inside the cockpit, the members are submerged underwater.]

Jessie

No, now we're going to have shrinkage!

James

Didn't you think to have this waterproofed?

Meowth

Hey, I'm no goof! We'll be dry as a bone before you run out of hot air!

[The water lowers, allowing them to breathe.]

Jessie & James

There.

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu! Wrap it up with Thunderbolt!

[Pikachu hits the mech woth Thunderbolt, causing an explosion.]

Ash Ketchum

Looks good!

Ash's Pikachu

(Shocked) Pika?!

[The mech raises up to the sky. Meowth cackles.]

Meowth

You twerps have one sorry bag of tricks!

[Cyndaquil shows up, willing to take on the mech.]

Ash Ketchum

Want to take a shot, Cyndaquil?

Ash's Cyndaquil

Cyndaquil!

Ash Ketchum

Great! Use Flamethrower!

[Flamethrower does no damage to the mech.]

Meowth

You're frittering away your flames, fool. We rule. We're fireproof and cool!

Jessie

Color me impressed, Meowth, you're the best!

Meowth

There's always a gift for the boss rattling around in this brain! So if you twerps think you can beat us, you're insane!

[The mech starts spinning, carrying Cyndaquil's Flamethrower with it. As it stops, the flames turn into meteors which crash down. Cyndaquil hurries about in panic.]

Ash Ketchum

Cyndaquil, no!

[Team Rocket throw the drill and the chainsaw at Cyndaquil repeatedly. Trees fall down. Cyndaquil reaches another dead end in-front of a rock. Jessie laughs.]

Jessie

Good. Let start with this firebrand!

Meowth

Everything's well in hand!

[An arm lowers to grab Cyndaquil.]

Ash, Dawn and Brock

Oh no!

[As it does so, Cyndaquil glows white and starts evolving!]

Dawn

Look!

[The Mech's arm retracts as Cyndaquil starts its evolution process.]

Brock

Cyndaquil's evolving!

Ash Ketchum

Wow, Cyndaquil!

[Cyndaquil completes its evolution to Quilava.]

Ash's Quilava

(Surprised) Quilava? (Excited) Quilava!

[The heroes exclaim in amazement. Ash checks the Pokemon on his Pokedex.]

Pokédex

Quilava. The Volcano Pokémon, and the evolved form of Cyndaquil. Quilava intimidates opponents with its flames' heat, and when ready to battle, the fire burns with more strength.

[Quilava shoots fire from its back and the top of its head. It roars.]

Ash Ketchum

All right! Quilava, go for it!

[Quilava steps closer to the mech and burns more fire. Team Rocket start panicking.]

Meowth

Oh, yipes!

James

And then some!

[Quilava shoots a torrent of fire up into the air.]

Ash Ketchum

Brock, what's that move?

Brock

It's Eruption!

[The mech is forced upward by Eruption. The mech explodes, blasting Team Rocket off.]

James

Chop, chop, Meowth, another robot!

Meowth

Sorry, but I've shopped my last chop shop!

Jessie

Come on! I hate Sinnoh shopping till you drop!

Team Rocket

We're blasting off again!

Ash Ketchum

You evolved and learned Eruption, too! That's awesome, Quilava!

[Quilava calls out, pleased, then lets off a bit of fire. Ash screams and everyone else react in shock, before they all burst out laughing. A moment later, Ash returns to update Professor Oak.]

Ash Ketchum

Professor Oak, Cyndaquil evolved into Quilava and learned Eruption, too!

Professor Oak

That's wonderful! What a joyous surprise!

Ash Ketchum

If you don't mind would you send the rest of my Pokémon, please?

Professor Oak

I'd be happy to! Which five should I send next?

[A Montage of Ash reuniting and befriending more Pokemon plays. Glalie freezes Ash solid with Ice Beam, which Torkoal rescues. A Shiny Noctowl flies. Ash punches the air, but is slammed by Muk, causing the others to laugh. Donphan rolls out, breaking rocks. The Montage ends and the screen fades to black. At night-time, the stadium headlights, neon lights and monitor turn on, the screen showing the eight Sinnoh badges. A Wailord and a Mantine blimp patrol the sky. The crowd cheers. Inside the arena, a large group of Trainers with their Pokemon are present. Dawn, Piplup and Brock are in the crowd, while Ash & Pikachu are standing together a distance apart from their Trainers and Pokemon. Two people light up the Stadium's torch.]

Announcer

And with the lighting of the Sinnoh League Flame, the Lily of the Valley Sinnoh league is now officially under way!

[Fireworks go off across all the stadiums.]

Ash Ketchum

It's finally happening!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

Ha!

[Ash looks around and notices Cynthia, up on the balcony.]

Ash Ketchum

It's Cynthia, the Champion!

[Ash looks around the rest of the competitors.]

Ash Ketchum

Nando, Conway, and Barry. Huh?

[Ash and Paul look at each other, with discontent.]

Ash Ketchum

And Paul, too.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Announcer

Now, it's time to announce the Sinnoh League first-round matchups, so here they are.

[The draw is revealed. Ash is up against Nando.]

Ash Ketchum

I'm up against Nando. A tough opponent right off the bat. You ready to go, Pikachu?

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Narrator

And so, amidst a formidable group of trainers, the Lily of the Valley Island Sinnoh league is on. And the excitement and anticipation are contagious, as Ash's latest challenge on the road to become a Pokémon master has begun!

[The caption "To Be Continued" shows at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
