DP181: Bucking the Treasure Trend!/Transcript

This is a transcript of the Pokémon: DP Sinnoh League Victors episode: "Bucking the Treasure Trend!".

Narrator

It's full steam ahead, as our heroes make their way to Lily of the Valley Island and the Sinnoh league.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah! All right! Next stop, it's the Sinnoh league, and man, I'm pumped!

[Ash laughs. Meanwhile, a ball rolls across the ship. Piplup becomes interested and runs after it, but it collides with a Baltoy, knocking them both down. He looks up, scratching his head at a trainer, looking down frowning with hands on hips.]

Buck

All right, who are you?

[Baltoy hovers up.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup.

Dawn

Piplup, you okay?

Buck

That Piplup smashed right into my Baltoy, see? Baltoy, isn't that right?

Baltoy

Baltoy.

Dawn

(Bows) I'm so sorry. Piplup gets... eager. Piplup, please, say you're sorry.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup...

Buck

Now, now, no need to get bent out of shape. It's OK.

Baltoy

Toy!

Buck

I'm Buck.

Dawn

I'm Dawn.

Ash Ketchum

Hi! I'm Ash!

Ash's Pikachu

Brock

Hi. My name's Brock.

[Dawn scans the Pokémon.]

Dawn

A Baltoy!

Pokédex

Baltoy. The Clay Doll Pokémon. A rarely seen Pokémon, Baltoy is said to have been discovered in an ancient ruin.

Buck

Going to Lily of the Valley Island for vacation?

Ash Ketchum

Nah, we're going there so I can enter the Sinnoh league.

Buck

Oh, I think I've heard of that.

Ash Ketchum

Wow, you think?

Dawn

So where are you headed, Buck?

Buck

Who, me? I'm on... a treasure hunt!

Everyone

Huh? A treasure hunt?

[The opening theme and title card plays.]

Buck

See, my Baltoy has the unique talent of finding hidden treasure.

Ash Ketchum

That's awesome.

Dawn

Wow!

[Team Rocket pose as waiters.]

Team Rocket

Hidden treasures?

Buck

Baltoy and I are smack dab in the middle of a treasure-hunting expedition.

Baltoy

Baltoy!

Brock

So you're a treasure hunter, right?

Buck

Well, you could say that. This whole treasure-hunting thing all began way back when I accidentally discovered a sunken shipwreck.

[A flashback plays.]

Buck

Baltoy, where is it?

Baltoy

Balto-o-oy!

Buck

You found it, Baltoy, Great!

[Baltoy spins on top of its marker. Buck puts on its snorkel and goggles and jumps into the water, riding on a Mantine.]

Buck

So I swam down, and just like Baltoy said, I found a sunken pirate ship lying on the seabed. But then...

[Buck dives to the bottom and opens out a treasure chest. It is revealed to be empty.]

Ash Ketchum

Empty?

[The flashback ends.]

Dawn

Aw...

Buck

That's usually the case. So somebody got there before me. But that's why it's so exciting when I actually find something.

Brock

For sure.

Buck

OK. And here's where it gets interesting. (Holding a map) There was no treasure, but there was this.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, what's that?

Dawn

A map.

Buck

You bet! And this map marks exactly where the pirates hid their treasure.

Everyone

Wow...

Buck

See that island with the symbol on it? That's Dandelion Island.

Brock

Hey, you're right. Dandelion Island.

Dawn

And it's where we're docking next for supplies.

[James sneaks in behind Ash & friends.]

Buck

Now, take a good look on the back of this map. You see that? The symbol they put on the highest mountain, right there?

[Team Rocket are taking notes.]

Brock

But the pokégear says it's nothing but a forest.

[Team Rocket head back to work.]

Buck

Nah, I'm sure of it. No doubt that's where the pirates hid their treasure. Although the part I'm not getting at all is why there are a bunch of Pokémon drawn all over this map.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, Voltorb, Pineco, Vileplume, and Graveler.

Buck

You know, guys, if you're going to enter a big Pokémon tournament, then I'd think you know a whole bunch about Pokémon. Anybody?

Ash Ketchum

Well, Voltorb is an Electric-type... and Pineco is a Bug-type.

Dawn

Vileplume is a Grass and Poison-type.

Brock

And Graveler is a Rock and Ground type. They have nothing in common.

Buck

So what about these Pokémon that look like the sun and the moon?

Brock

Pokémon that look like the sun and the moon...

Ash Ketchum

That's Solrock and Lunatone!

Buck

Whoa, you're good! So what do you think these Pokémon mean?

Ash's Pikachu

Pika.

Dawn

Let's see...

Buck

Tough break if you can't make sense out of this map... Oh well. So, how do you feel about helping me to find that treasure, Ash?

Ash Ketchum

How could I say no to that? Plus, I'll bet it'll be great training before the Sinnoh league gets going.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Dawn

Yes! It's perfect because we can do it while the ship's in port getting supplies!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Brock

It's settled, then. The ship will get supplies, and we'll find treasure.

Buck

Thanks, you guys. Ah... That's Dandelion Island.

Ash Ketchum

Almost there.

Buck

You don't stand a chance, treasure.

[Team Rocket cut in the foreground.]

Jessie

I say we trump the twerps and take the treasure, tout de suite.

Meowth

Did you crib the treasure map info, my bro?

James

It is so.

Team Rocket

Yo-ho-ho.

[The ship arrives at Dandelion Island.]

Dawn

Wow, a real treasure.

Ash Ketchum

OK, first thing we do is find that mountain.

Buck

It says here it's just up ahead

[Piplup, ahead of them, turns around and calls out.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup!

Buck

Looks like someone's eager.

Dawn

Piplup, just don't get lost.

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup-Piplup! Piplup, Piplup, Piplup...

[As Piplup walks down the valley, an explosion blasts and faints him. Everyone reacts in shock.]

Dawn

Piplup!

Buck

What happened?

[A horde of Voltorb roll down the valley, threatening the gang.]

Ash Ketchum

Whoa! Careful, Voltorb!

[All the Voltorb explode. Everyone else screams. More Voltorb approach them angrily.]

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!

[The Voltorb are hurt by Thunderbolt.]

Ash Ketchum

Quick, run!

[The gang run across the valley as fast as possible. The Voltorb fall and faint in the foreground. Ash perches on a tree. Everyone pants in exhaustion.]

Ash Ketchum

Phew.

Dawn

That scared the daylights out of me...

[Piplup, ahead of them, turns around and calls out.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup!

Dawn

(Exhausted) All right...

[As Piplup walks down the valley, an explosion blasts and faints him. Everyone reacts in shock.]

Dawn

Not again.

[The Pineco, above the tree, threaten the gang, who look up at the threats.]

Brock

A bunch of Pineco.

[All the Pineco explode. Everyone else screams and runs away.]

[In the next scene, Buck reads the map, while everyone else pants in exhaustion.]

Buck

You know what? I think the Pokémon on this map are traps.

Ash Ketchum

Pokémon traps?

Buck

Uh huh. So that nobody will be able to reach the treasure.

Ash Ketchum

Pokémon used as traps... There are supposed to be Graveler, too. But Water-types are super effective against Rock-types.

Dawn

Like Piplup.

Dawn's Piplup

(Proud) Piplup!

Brock

Vileplume's a Grass and Poison type, know what I mean, Ash?

Ash Ketchum

Infernape's a Fire-type.

Buck

Ash, I've got to say, you're good. I'm so glad I asked you guys to come along.

Baltoy

Baltoy!

Jessie

Fret not, my cute little treasure-treasure, we're coming.

James

Say, I wonder if the Pokémon marked on the map are noteworthy.

Jessie

I'll bet they're a warm welcoming party to guide us lovingly to the treasure.

James

Aww! How sweet!

[The Voltorb encroach and threaten Team Rocket.]

Team Rocket

Ah!

James

Neat, without missing a beat.

Jessie

OK. A-treasuring we will go.

[All the Voltorb explode. Team Rocket scream and run away, with singed hairstyles.]

Jessie

With warmth like that, who needs the sun?

[Piplup jumps over the rocks on a lake.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited) Piplup-Piplup!

Dawn

Please, Piplup, be careful.

Dawn's Piplup

(Confident) Piplup!

[Piplup hops onto the top of the Vileplume flower. He is ejected up into the air and crash lands into a rock, stunned and surrounded by spores.]

Dawn

Oh no, Piplup!

[The horde of Vileplume and Gloom grumble in anger.]

Ash Ketchum

It's a bunch of Gloom and Vileplume!

[The wild Gloom use Acid aiming at the gang]

Brock

Hey, that's Acid! Look out!

Ash Ketchum

Infernape, I choose you!

Ash's Infernape

Infernape!

Ash Ketchum

Infernape, use Flamethrower!

[The move scares away the Gloom and Vileplume, clearing the path.]

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

That was great, Infernape!

Ash's Infernape

Infernape!

[On the tree stump, Brock feeds a spoonful to the fainted Piplup.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup...

Brock

OK, that should take away any ill effects.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup...

Dawn

Are you feeling better, Piplup?

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup! Piplup.

[Piplup jumps off the stump and walks on ahead, calling everyone to come along.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup! Piplup! Piplup!

Dawn

Aw...

[Team Rocket, with singed hairstyles, pant in exhaustion.]

Jessie

That was their loving guidance to the treasure?

James

No, that was evil protectorate pleasure.

[A group of Pineco threaten then from above.]

Team Rocket

Huh?!

[All the Pineco explode. Team Rocket scream. Cut to Dawn's team. Piplup leads them toward a cave with multiple entrances.]

Dawn

Look at that.

Buck

The mountain's beyond those caves.

Ash Ketchum

So which cave are we supposed to go in?

Dawn's Piplup

(Confident) Piplup! Piplup, Piplup!

Dawn

You just slow down for a second, Piplup!

Buck

Sounds like the perfect time for Baltoy to show off its skills.

Baltoy

Baltoy!

[Baltoy scans the area and marks down the correct entrance by spinning on its axis.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup?

Buck

There! That's the one!

Ash Ketchum

Let's go!

[Ash and the team set off. Dawn stops and orders Piplup to come along.]

Dawn

Piplup, you'd better hurry, or you'll be left behind.

Dawn's Piplup

(Disappointed) Piplup.

[Piplup slowly comes with them.]

[Vileplume and Gloom threaten Team Rocket.]

Jessie

Uh... Oh.

Meowth

Are we heading into more evil protectorate stuff?

Jessie

I didn't get the meaning of that the first time around.

James

Well, second time's the charm.

[The Gloom shoot Acid at Team Rocket, who dodge while trying to stay on the rocks beside the lake.]

Jessie

Quick! Seviper, out front!

Jessie's Seviper

Seviper!

Jessie

Use Poison Tail!

[Seviper swings its tail back and forth to blast away the Gloom and Vileplume. Team Rocket quickly catch up to Seviper.]

Jessie

Follow Seviper's lead!

Meowth & James

Indeed!

[Baltoy sings and scans the area. It pinpoints the right direction and calls out.]

Buck

Right! Great job!

[A horde of Graveler threaten and approach them.]

Brock

Graveler!

[Piplup takes charge.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Dawn

Rock-types are weak to Water-types!

Dawn's Piplup

(Confident) Piplup!

Dawn

All right, Piplup, go!

[Piplup uses Hydro Pump, but it only takes out one Graveler. He panics and flaps his arms as the horde closes on, attacks and blasts him back into Dawn's arms.]

Dawn

Piplup!

Brock

Look out!

[The gang try to run away from the horde of Graveler but they fall down the side and scream as they fall into the abyss. At the bottom, it is just Ash, Dawn, Brock and Pikachu, the former rubbing his head.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, now where did Buck and Baltoy end up?

Dawn

Piplup's gone, too. They could've landed anywhere.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-pika.

[They become alert as more rumbling sounds are heard.]

Ash Ketchum

That more Graveler?

[A Golem rolls in toward them and greets them.]

Golem

Golem!

Dawn

Not quite! Golem!

Ash Ketchum

It wasn't on the map!

Brock

It doesn't matter. What does is that Fighting-type moves are super effective against Rock-types.

Ash Ketchum

Right! All right, Gible, I choose you!

Gible

Gible!

Ash Ketchum

All right, Gible, use Rock Smash!

[Gible hits Golem three times with Rock Smash. The Golem panics and rolls away.]

Ash Ketchum

Gible, that was awesome!

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika-Pika!

Gible

Gible.

Ash Ketchum

OK, we'd better find Buck and Piplup.

Dawn

How do we do that?

[Gible practices its Draco Meteor move. The others gasp in shock. It concentrates and loads up the meteor.]

Dawn

(Flapping arms, panicking) No, Ash! You've got to stop Gible right now!

[Gible shoots a meteor up at the top of the cave. It pops and falls toward Piplup. Piplup screams as the meteor hits him in the distance.]

Ash Ketchum

Did you hear that?

Dawn

(Worried) Yup... Piplup.

[Piplup faints. A mark appears on his head.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Weakly) Piplup...

[Baltoy and Buck check on Dawn's Piplup.]

Buck

Whoa, what just happened?

Baltoy

Baltoy.

[The heroes arrive.]

Dawn

Piplup?

Brock

There you are.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-pika!

Buck

Ah, hey, you guys are all right!

Dawn

Piplup, what about you?

[Piplup indignantly blames Ash, flapping its arms.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup-Piplup!

Ash Ketchum

Hey, sorry about that, Piplup, but I'm sure glad we found you.

[Piplup glares at Gible. As Gible communicates to apologize, Piplup accepts with a resigned wave of his arm. Cut to Team Rocket.]

Jessie

All right... Opinions, troops?

Meowth

Look, leave the driving up to good ol' Meowth. Eenie, meenie, miney, mo...catch a twerpie by the toe.

Jessie

Dumb luck?

James

The master speaks.

[Meowth is unknowingly climbing on a Onix's head.]

Meowth

Hey, you need to loosen up. All good things come to those dudes who chill out.

[The Onix opens his eyes. James and Jessie yelp in panic.]

Meowth

Your concept of chilling out's a little too hot for me.

[The Onix exerts itself, carrying Meowth.]

Meowth

Yipes! Onix, what big beady eyes you have!

[Onix attacks and blasts Team Rocket out of the cave.]

Team Rocket

You and your doofus diplomacy!

[Back inside the cave, Ash's gang start running as they find the exit.]

Ash Ketchum

There it is! Let's get out of here!

Buck

Right!

[They come across a ruined temple.]

Brock

Wha...? Wow, that ruin isn't in my pokégear.

Buck

That's it! That's where the treasure is!

[The heroes are on the ruins.]

Ash Ketchum

Why would pirates stash a treasure in a ruin?

[Pikachu and Piplup call out, curious. Brock sees the Solrock carving on the temple.]

Brock

So that means the Solrock and Lunatone we saw on the map...

[Dawn stands next to the Lunatone carving.]

Dawn

..Represent these paintings on the ruins.

Buck

Guys, up here!

[The heroes run to the top of the temple.]

Buck

Wait until you get a load of this.

Brock

Look at those patterns!

[The heroes stop and look at the carvings, which resemble a Claydol.]

Baltoy

Baltoy! Baltoy! Balto-o-oy!

Buck

Baltoy, what's up?

[Baltoy points to the clear triangle carving.]

Baltoy

Baltoy! Baltoy!

[The heroes take a closer look.]

Ash Ketchum

Whoa, what's this?

Buck

I think we're supposed to do something with this.

Brock

It could be another trap.

Buck

Yeah, I know.

[Team Rocket laugh and drop bombs from their balloon, forcing the heroes to stand back.]

Buck

What was that?!

Jessie

Why, that's all us, all the time!

James

This is the way we swoop in sublime!

Jessie

On the wind.

James

Past the stars.

Meowth

In our prime!

Jessie

Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!

James

Dashing hope, putting fear in its place!

Jessie

A rose by any other name's just as sweet!

James

When everything's worse, our work is complete!

Jessie

Jessie.

James

And James.

Meowth

Meowth's the name!

Jessie

Putting you do-gooders in your place!

James

We're Team Rocket...

Team Rocket

..In your face!

Jessie

No sense toiling over that treasure since it's ours already.

Buck

You're nuts! We found it first, so it's ours!

James

Second, fools. Team Rocket makes the treasure rules.

Meowth

We're taking it while every one of you drools.

Ash Ketchum

No way we're letting you!

Dawn

Get over it!

Meowth

(Snickers) There's no twerpie like a naive twerpie...

[Meowth's foot steps on the triangular carving, acting as a button. The Claydol rises from the top of the temple.]

Team Rocket

Oofah!

Claydol

Claydol!

James

Claydol!

Meowth

Don't see them much!

Jessie

And worth oodles!

Ash Ketchum

That's the treasure?

Buck

Claydol?

[Dawn looks at her Pokédex.]

Dawn

Hold on...

Buck

What's up?

Dawn

Those patterns on the stones are the same patterns that are on Claydol!

Pokédex

Claydol. The Clay Doll Pokémon, and the evolved form of Baltoy. Claydol is said to have come to life when an ancient doll made from clay was exposed to mysterious light.

Dawn

Claydol must have something to do with this ruin.

Buck

I'll bet Claydol's guarding the treasure.

Jessie

We'll just fix that! Seviper!

[Seviper appears from Jessie's Poké Ball.]

Jessie's Seviper

Seviper!

James

Carnivine, join the fray!

[James deploys Carnivine from his Poké Ball. It gnaws him.]

James

Excuse me! My head's frayed enough! Fray with the twerps!

Jessie

All right, Seviper, Poison Tail, presto!

[Seviper unloads Poison Tail.]

James

Carnivine, Bullet Seed!

[Claydol hovers up, dodging the attacks. Team Rocket become nervous as Claydol uses Rapid Spin, hitting and blasting them off.]

Jessie

Sometimes I get the feeling treasure is not to be in our future.

James

Falling prey to every prank a Pokémon can pull doesn't help.

Meowth

At least you can't say we're not consistent.

Team Rocket

And blasting off again...

[Claydol threatens Ash's group. They shudder.]

Dawn

It's targeting us!

[Piplup steps forward.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Dawn

OK, Piplup, Bubble Beam!

[As Piplup shoots Bubble Beam, Claydol sets up Light Screen to block the move.]

Brock

Wow, that's Claydol's Light Screen!

[Claydol starts attacking. It hits Piplup with Ice Beam, freezing it...]

Dawn

Piplup!

[..Before the ice breaks on Dawn's hands. Claydol then uses Extrasensory, forcing everyone to scream and retreat out of the top of the ruins.]

Ash Ketchum

It's strong!

Buck

It's not guarding the ruins for nothing.

Ash Ketchum

OK, Torterra, I choose you!

Ash's Torterra

Torterra!

Claydol

Dol...

Ash Ketchum

Torterra, Leaf Storm, go!

Ash's Torterra

Torterra!

[Claydol spins to block Leaf Storm.]

Ash Ketchum

Energy Ball!

[The ball deflects off of Claydol.]

Ash Ketchum

Torterra can't stop it either!

Buck

Ash, I'll do it.

Ash Ketchum

Huh?

Buck

Claydol evolved from a Baltoy, right? Maybe we'll be able to take care of this. All right, Baltoy, use Shadow Ball!

[Claydol sets up a screen to block Shadow Ball. It shoots back and hits Baltoy with Extrasensory.]

Buck

Baltoy! Keep your guard up!

Baltoy

Baltoy!

Buck

Now! Use Gyro Ball!

[Baltoy glows the tips of its arms and spins, rotating around Claydol, rendering it unable to attack.]

Ash Ketchum

Wow, Baltoy rocks!

[Everyone else cheers on Buck and Baltoy. As Baltoy keeps spinning around, it manages to hit Claydol a couple times.]

Buck

Wow, when it comes to speed, Baltoy's much faster than Claydol!

[Claydol quickly and repeatedly fires Extrasensory, but Baltoy hits it another three times.]

Buck

Baltoy, use Solar Beam!

[Baltoy loads up and releases the move. Claydol tries to block it with the screen, but ends up getting confused.]

Claydol

Claydol?

Buck

Perfect! Baltoy, use Gyro Ball!

[From up high, Baltoy spins down onto Claydol's head. Buck throws a Pokéball toward Claydol.]

Buck

Go! Poké ball!

[The Pokéball chimes and seals.]

Buck

All right!

[Buck chuckles as he picks up his Pokeball.]

Buck

I did it! Finally, I've got a Claydol!

[Ash, Dawn, Brock and Pikachu cheer. Suddenly, a temple rises.]

Brock

Whoa!

Buck

Is that?

[the temple opens its doors, revealing a bright light. Everyone gasps in amazement.]

Dawn

Could that be the treasure?

Brock

Wow, Buck, that treasure map is obviously the real deal!

[As the light fades, the treasure is revealed to by shelves full of clay antiques. Ash, Pikachu, Piplup, Dawn and Brock become disappointed while Buck is giddy.]

Ash Ketchum

Hold on. That's treasure?

Dawn

Yeah, where is all the gold and silver?

Buck

What are you guys talking about? This is the treasure!

Ash Ketchum

Huh? You've got to be kidding me.

Buck

No! After I analyze the clay's components, I'll know which era it comes from! These are all museum-quality pieces! They're priceless treasures...from an archaeological point of view, of course.

Ash Ketchum

Archaeological?

Buck

Yeah. You may not have guessed it by looking at me, but I want to become an archaeology professor some day.

Dawn

Professor? no way!

Buck

Way! I'll bet to you guys, these are nothing but weird pots! Ahh... look at this one! Amazing! Ooh, I've never seen this shape before.

[He laughs. At sunset, Buck and Baltoy bid farewell to Ash & friends.]

Buck

OK, guys, I'm getting on a different ferry. I've been hearing about treasure hidden somewhere up on Stark Mountain.

Dawn

I hope you find it!

Buck

No doubt about it. It's my thing! Hey, Ash...thanks for all the help you guys gave me. And good luck at the Sinnoh league!

Ash Ketchum

Hey, thanks, Buck!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

[The ship departs. Ash & friends wave goodbye to Buck.]

Ash Ketchum

See you, Buck!

Dawn

Bye, take care!

Brock

Happy hunting!

[Buck waves back at them. Ash's gang walk to the front of the ship.]

Brock

You're almost there, Ash.

Dawn

You'll be in the Sinnoh league before you know it.

Ash Ketchum

Hey, Pikachu, you ready to win it?

Ash's Pikachu

(Excited) Pika-Pikachu! (Air punches)

Narrator

It boggles the mind imagining all the Pokémon and battles awaiting Ash at the Sinnoh league, which only adds to the excitement. So be sure to stay tuned, as the journey continues.

[The caption "To Be Continued" shows at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
