This is a transcript of the Pokémon: DP Sinnoh League Victors episode: "Dealing With a Fierce Double Ditto Drama!"

Narrator

We rejoin our Heroes training in the forest, a stone's throw from the Lakeside Resort, where the Grand Festival is soon to take place.

Dawn

OK, I suggest we put the finishing touches on our training for the Grand Festival. Let's make it count!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Ash Ketchum

And since we've got that Gym Battle against Volkner coming up, let's make it count too.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika, pika!

Ash's Gible

Gible!

Dawn

Piplup, use Whirlpool!

[Piplup sets up a Whirlpool.]

Ash Ketchum

Gible, Draco Meteor, let's go!

Ash's Gible

Gible!

[Gible shoots a meteor up in the sky. It pops and falls towards Piplup.]

Ash Ketchum

(Annoyed) Uh!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

[Piplup panics as the meteor hits him, also destroying the Whirlpool. As the smoke clears, Piplup faints on top of hollowed piece of ground.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Weakly) Piplup...

Dawn

Piplup, no! (Angrily to Ash) Ash Ketchum, the least you two could do is train elsewhere if you're going to use Gible's Draco Meteor!

Ash Ketchum

Guess you're right. Piplup, sorry.

Brock

Here we go! Time to make an energy boosting, nutritious lunch!

Dawn

Piplup, spin and use Bubble Beam!

[Piplup jumps, spins on an axis and shoots Bubbles in all directions. Piplup lands, panting in exhaustion.]

Dawn

Wow, Piplup, you're looking great.

Dawn's Piplup

(Humbly) Piplup.

Dawn

(Brings out her Pokéball) Go on and rest, Piplup.

[Piplup walks away.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup...

Dawn

OK, Togekiss, go!

Dawn's Togekiss

To!

Dawn

Togekiss, use Sky Attack!

[Togekiss swoops upward and glows a white aura. Piplup sits by the tree, exhausted. However, bushes rustle, and two lights appear between the holes.]

[The opening theme "We Will Carry On!" and title card plays.]

[Piplup is sleeping. The eyes blink.]

Brock

All done.

[The bushes rustle to the right. On the table, the food and drink are all set.]

Brock

All right guys, lunchtime!

Ditto Piplup

(Happy) Piplup! Piplup! Piplup!

[Ditto Piplup jumps on the table.]

Brock

You must be hungry, Piplup.

[Ditto Piplup eats the food from all the bowls at a rapid pace.]

Brock

Hey, hey! Slow down! It's not all for you!

Ash & Dawn

Huh?

Brock

Piplup, cut it out!

Dawn

Piplup, stop it right now!

[Gible and Pikachu all out in anger.]

Dawn

What are you thinking, Piplup?

Dawn's Piplup

(Waking up) Pip... (Wonders) ..lup?

Dawn

You listen to me this instant, Piplup, or else!

Dawn's Piplup

Lup!

All

Huh?!

Dawn

Uh, Piplup?!

[Ditto Piplup quickly jumps to Dawn's arms.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Angrily to Ditto Piplup) Piplup, Piplup, Piplup!

[Dawn's Piplup tussles with its counterpart, knocking it off Dawn's hands and engaging in a fight-cloud.]

Dawn

Stop it!

[The fighting stops. The Piplup argue with one another.]

Ash Ketchum

So how're we going to be able to tell who's who?

[The Piplup engage in a fight-cloud again. Gible uses Draco Meteor, which pops and fails again. Dawn's Piplup screams and flaps its arms about, while the other one watches, and moves out of the way. The meteor explodes on top of Dawn's Piplup, causing it to faint.]

Ash Ketchum

That's your Piplup, Dawn, no doubt.

Dawn

Piplup, no!

All

Huh?

[Pikachu and Gible watch on as two Togekiss talk to one another.]

Ash Ketchum

What's with the two Togekiss?

Dawn

Huh?! Yeah, and which Togekiss is mine?

Brock

Put it back in its Pokéball and you'll find out.

Dawn

Great idea! Togekiss, return!

[Dawn lasers the Ditto Togekiss, to no effect, and then her Togekiss, which returns.]

Dawn's Togekiss

To?

Dawn

That one.

Brock & Ash

That's a relief. Huh? (Shudder) Ah!

[There are two Pikachu looking at one another.]

Ash Ketchum

You, Pikachu?

2 Pikachu

Pika-ka!

Brock

What do we do? Pikachu doesn't like to go back in its Poké Ball, so there's no way to tell which one's which.

Ash Ketchum

Hey Brock, I think you're forgetting, I'm not like Dawn.

Dawn

And what's that supposed to mean?

Ash Ketchum

This'll be easy. (Ash steps forward and confronts the two Pikachu) I totally know which Pikachu's mine. It's this one!

[Ash laughs and strokes the Ditto Pikachu. Ash's Pikachu uses Thunderbolt and electrocutes Ash.]

Dawn

Totally wrong, weren't you?

Ash Ketchum

So it's this one.

[Ditto Pikachu Thunderbolts Ash for a shorter time. The Ditto Pikachu pulls down his face, with the other Pikachu doing the same. They then do an oval face together. They both then pull an eyelid down. They then imitate a Wobbuffet face, a Loudred face, a Manectric face, a Poliwag face, a Buneary look, a Seviper, a Budew, a Mudkip, and a Psyduck, before they both become exhausted.]

Ash Ketchum

Great. Now what?

Dawn

Admit you can't tell the difference!

[Next to Dawn, another Piplup laughs along with her Piplup.]

Dawn

Huh? (Angrily) No, not you again!

[Dawn's Piplup jumps down and acts hostile to the other Piplup. They balance on one leg then get involved in a fight-cloud.]

Ash Ketchum

I could use Draco Meteor once more... (Looks over) Ah?!

[Two Gible confront each other angrily.]

Ash Ketchum

Gible?!

[The Gible engage in a fight-cloud.]

Ash Ketchum

(Angrily) Knock it off!

Dawn

Break it up, please!

Narissa

Hey you! Over here!

All

Huh?

Narissa

What's up, kids? Looking for my homies. Have you seen them?

Ash Ketchum

Homies?

Brock

I wonder, could she mean...

[Both Piplup and both Gible are alarmed, looking at Narissa and pointing at one another. The Ditto Gible and the Ditto Piplup sweat-panic, after finding out their trainer.]

Narissa

(Angrily) Chill out right now, you understand?

Ash's Gible

(Confused) Gible?

[The Ditto Gible transforms into the pink Ditto.]

Dawn's Piplup

(Confused) Piplup?

[The Ditto Piplup transforms into the blue Ditto.]

Brock

So they were Ditto after all!

Ditto!

Dawn

Those are Ditto?

[Dawn scans the Pokémon with her Pokédex.]

Pokédex

Ditto. The Transform Pokémon. Ditto has the ability to reconstruct its entire cellular structure into whatever it sees.

Ash Ketchum

And check out the different colors! Cool.

Narissa

And fierce!

Dawn

Never seen one before.

Brock

I've never seen Ditto in different colors.

Narissa

OK, here's the deal: Ditto One and Ditto Two are my pride and joy. But they love a practical joke, so they always run off and pull stuff...

[The two Ditto transform into Piplup and Pikachu. They call out their new names in excitement.]

Dawn

Wow, those two can transform perfectly! Cool!

Ash Ketchum

I almost couldn't tell which one was Pikachu.

Dawn

"Almost"? Please.

Brock

My name's Brock.

Dawn

I'm Dawn.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Ash Ketchum

And I'm Ash. This is my partner, Pikachu.

Ash's Pikachu

Pikachu!

Narissa

My name's Narissa. You guys just call me Rissa for short...

Dawn

That's a really cute nickname!

Narissa

(Angrily) Hold on! You messing with me?

Dawn

Huh? No way. Of course not.

Narissa

OK. Back where I come from, they call me The Rumbler. Want to fight, I'm ready.

Ash Ketchum

Rumbler? What's that mean?

Narissa

(Angrily) You just keep your shirt on! Haven't you ever heard of a Rumble?

Ash Ketchum

A what now?

Narissa

(Shouts) Rumble!

Ash Ketchum

(Holds back) OK. I'm on your side.

Brock

So Rissa, are you traveling by yourself?

Narissa

Yeah. I'm a wandering Pokémon Trainer, making the Gym rounds with my Ditto.

Ash Ketchum

Cool. You're like me.

Narissa

No way!

Ash Ketchum

Huh?

Narissa

I'm going to be the number one Pokémon Trainer and nothing less! I can't have a noob like you lumping us together. Get it?

Ash Ketchum

I'm not a noob. My dream is to become the world's greatest Pokémon Master, just like you!

Dawn

Rissa, have you been on your journey a long time?

Narissa

It's already been a whole month.

Ash Ketchum

Whoa. A month? That's it? And you're calling me a noob?!

Narissa

Yeah.

Brock

Got any badges?

Narissa

Zero. Nada.

Dawn

Zero?

Narissa

Gym Leaders are too scared to battle with me, so they run off before I can win a Gym Badge. That's huge. What do you say, Ditto One and Two?

[The two Ditto transform back to normal.]

2 Ditto

Ditto-to!

[Team Rocket watch from behind the bushes.]

Dawn

That sounds kind of weird.

Narissa

(Angrily) Are you messing with me again?!

James

Double Ditto.

Jessie

I so relate. I can transform just like a Ditto. (Giggles)

Meowth

In more ways than one. Hmm... (Gets an idea) Of course! Those Ditto would make the perfect transformational gift for the Boss!

James

I smell a fantasy scene.

[Cut to a cutscene of Giratina and Regigigas battling each other.]

Meowth

It's the Boss business as usual, like finding Giratina and Regigigas locked in a mountainside maul. But, although he tries to bag those big bad beasts, those two have got other plans.

[A group of Team Rocket grunts - holding a net, lead by Giovanni, attempt to capture the legendary Pokémon, but they shoot back and blast them, knocking them down.]

Meowth

Then, suddenly, without warning, it's the Ditto duo to the rescue!

2 Ditto

Ditto!

[The two Ditto transform into Regigigas and Giratina.]

Giovanni (In Meowth's voice, tearing up)

Without Ditto doing the perfect take on Giratina and Regigigas, I'd be lost! Meowth and friends need to be rewarded handsomely for helping me save face and being all the boss I can be.

[Back to Team Rocket's dreamland.]

Meowth

Now do you see?

Team Rocket

We're on our way to a transformational payday!

Wobbuffet

Wob-buffet!

James

(Has a thought) Oh. But it's only a quick fix.

Jessie

Quick is good.

Meowth

(Smiling) Besides, when the boss smiles, we do!

Jessie & James

(Smiling) Mm-hm!

Ash Ketchum

So Rissa. How about you and I battle?

Narissa

(Angrily) Battle? I'll knock your block off!

Ash Ketchum

(Softly) No, I mean a Pokémon Battle.

Dawn

It's not every day someone gets to battle against a Ditto, you know?

Narissa

I think you should know that I can't be beat. If you can handle that, let's go.

Ash Ketchum

(Neutral) That's what I call confidence.

Brock

So, I'll referee, if you don't mind. What kind of Pokémon do you have, Rissa?

Narissa

You see, Ditto One and Two are my whole life. They're my pals and I'm theirs, twenty-four seven.

Dawn

Wow! So you're saying all you have are your two Ditto?

Narissa

(Angrily) Who asked you?! Hmph!

[Dawn nervously laughs.]

Brock

Then I say the match will be two one-on-one battles.

Ash Ketchum

Okay!

[Ash and Narissa are on opposite ends, with Brock and Dawn on the sideline.]

Brock

Begin!

Narissa

Ditto One. Don't worry. You can relax. It's you, Two!

Ditto 2

Ditto!

Ash Ketchum

Infernape, I choose you!

Ash's Infernape

Infernape!

Narissa

Now, Transform into Infernape!

Ditto

Ditto!

[Ditto transforms into Infernape.]

Ditto

Infernape!

[Narissa check Infernape on her Pokédex.]

Narissa

Let's see Infernape's moves... Mach Punch, and Flame Wheel too? Uh-oh! What's Flame Wheel about?

Ash Ketchum

Infernape, use Flame Wheel!

[Ash's Infernape curls into a ball of fire.]

Narissa

Wow, that's hot! Counter that with Flame Wheel, go!

[The two balls collide with one another. They bounce off each other.]

Dawn

Cool! That means whatever Pokémon Ditto transforms into, it can use its moves.

Narissa

Hm! You see? You're messing with a pro.

Ash Ketchum

Mach Punch, let's go!

Ash's Infernape

Infer!

Narissa

You use Mach Punch too!

[The two Pokémon light their fist and collide with each other.]

Dawn

Looks matched.

[The two Infernape tussle and growl, then the impact sounds. While Ash's Infernape bounces off, the Ditto Infernape transforms back and faints.]

Brock

Ditto's unable to battle. Infernape wins!

Narissa

Bummer! Time for some rest.

[Narissa returns Ditto back to her Pokéball.]

Narissa

You rocked the house. So Ditto One, you're up.

Ditto 1

Di-di-ditto!

Ash Ketchum

Awesome. Thanks, Infernape...

Ash's Infernape

Fernape.

[Ash returns Infernape.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, Pikachu. You ready?

Ash's Pikachu

(Fired up) Pika!

[Pikachu sets up in his battle pose.]

Narissa

Now...what to do?

[Narissa looks at Dawn's Piplup.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup?

Narissa

Right! Transform into Piplup!

[Ditto transforms into Piplup.]

Ditto Piplup

Piplup!

Dawn

Uh. Why choose Piplup? Water-type Pokémon are weak against Electric types.

Narissa

Uh, (Angrily) I know what I'm doing!

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Thunderbolt, let's go!

[Pikachu strikes Ditto Piplup with Thunderbolt.]

Narissa

I should've picked Pikachu from the get-go. Transform!

[Ditto transforms back to itself, then into Pikachu.]

Narissa

Now, Pikachu's moves... This one rocks! Iron Tail, go!

[Ditto Pikachu swings its tail at Ash's Pikachu. He dodges.]

Dawn

But Iron Tail's a Steel-type move. It's not very effective against an Electric type.

Narissa

(Angrily) Will you zip it?! Not cool!

Ash Ketchum

Pikachu, Quick Attack, now!

[Pikachu starts running.]

Narissa

And counter that with Volt Tackle!

[Ditto's Pikachu runs too, with an Electric aura.]

Dawn

Uh oh! Don't you know Volt Tackle inflicts damage on the user too?

Narissa

Ah! I blew it!

[The two Pokémon collide together, causing an explosion. While Ash's Pikachu lands safely on Ash's side, Ditto 1 crashes and faints on Narissa's side.]

Brock

Ditto is unable to battle. Which means, Pikachu is the winner, and... Ash the victor!

Ash Ketchum

(Pleased) All right, Pikachu!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-pikachu!

Narissa

Ditto, return. (Annoyed) The nerve! I don't let anybody embarrass me like that and get away with it so I'm going to get you back! You wait!

Brock

That's not a great way to end a battle.

Dawn

Yeah, you're just going to start a fight.

Narissa

(Annoyed) That's fine with me! If someone messes with my head, I always get them back!

Ash Ketchum

OK, so how're you going to get me back?

Narissa

Oh man. (Flusters) The other day both my Ditto transformed into Zapdos and won, and that makes Ditto the strongest Pokémon ever!

Ash Ketchum

Wow, they both did? And won?

Narissa

Yeah. They sure did.

[Narissa flashes back. The two Ditto prepare for battle against a trainer's Cubone and Marowak. A Zapdos flies by.]

Brock

So you were actually having a Battle at the time, right?

[The two Ditto transform into Zapdos. The Trainer and his Pokémon run away scared.]

Narissa

Hm! It didn't even get that far. One look at two Zapdos and they were out of there!

[The flashback ends.]

Dawn

But that means you didn't actually beat them then.

Narissa

Who cares? A win is a win. That's just how strong my Ditto are, okay?

[Brock holds Narissa's shoulders with both hands.]

Brock

Not okay!

Narissa

Hey!

Brock

Look Rissa, you need to study about your Pokémon a lot more or you'll never be able to bring out your Ditto's true strength.

Narissa

(Sweats) But me study?

Brock

Look, Ditto can transform into any Pokémon, but as their Trainer, if you don't know the moves of the Pokémon they transform into then you won't be able to give your Ditto effective commands.

Narissa

(Annoyed, looks away) What do you know?

Brock

Rissa!

Narissa

(Perks up) Ah!

[A giant Brock surrounded in flames stares down with his finger pointing at Narissa. The flames roar.]

Brock

Unless you come to grips with what I'm saying, you'll never grow as a Trainer!

Ash Ketchum

Brock?

Narissa

You see, you see...

[She wails.]

All

Huh?

Brock

Wait, what's wrong?

Ash Ketchum

I thought you said you used to be The Rumbler back at home.

Narissa

So I lied!

Ash, Brock & Dawn

You lied?!

Narissa

(Breaking) Back home, I was just about as scared as I could be. I felt too scared to be just who I was, so I dressed up like Flint. The truth is, I always admired the Elite Four and I wanted to look as tough as I could!

Ash & Dawn

Of course!

Dawn

Now that you mention it, your hairstyle and outfit look exactly like Flint's.

Narissa

(Breaking) So now... what do I do?

[Brock lowers and pats Narissa's shoulder.]

Brock

You just have to take it easy and learn everything you can about different Pokémon.

[Narissa looks up.]

Brock

See, Ditto can copy the moves of other Pokémon, but there's no way they can copy their power. If they're going into battle, you'll need to get them into shape.

[Narissa wipes the tears off her eyes.]

Narissa

Right.

Ash Ketchum

You know, you're actually kind of nice.

Narissa

That's the thing. I am nice. But the truth is, I'm nothing but a big crybaby.

Brock

Don't worry!

[Huh?]

[A giant Brock surrounded in flames looks down at Narissa with a strong arm. The flames roar.]

Brock

All you have to do is study and work hard, and you and your Ditto can grow together!

[A gong sounds. Narissa gets up and pleads.]

Narissa

Wow! Please Brock, won't you work with my Ditto and me?

Brock

Sure. I'd be happy to.

[With Ash and Dawn by the table with their Pokémon, Narissa sits on a tree stump with her two Pokémon, with Brock showing cards with pictures of Ash's Pokémon to her.]

Brock

First, let's review your Battle from earlier.

Narissa

Right.

Brock

Your first opponent was Infernape: a Fire type. Ditto also transformed into an Infernape, but in this case, Fire-type moves aren't really that effective.

Narissa

Right.

[Brock reveals another picture, this of a Piplup using Whirlpool and Infernape being stunned.]

Brock

So, if Ditto had transformed into Piplup instead, Ditto would have been able to use its Water-type moves, which would have been super-effective.

Narissa

(Taking notes) I get it!

[A picture of Pikachu using Thunderbolt, Iron Tail and Quick Attack is shown.]

Brock

Your next opponent was Pikachu. If you look up its moves in the Pokédex, you'll see that Ash's Pikachu knows more than just Electric-type moves, such as Iron Tail, which is a Steel-type move... and Quick Attack, which is a Normal-type move.

Narissa

Question. Why does a Pokémon know moves from types other than theirs?

Brock

A great question. The answer is type advantage plays a huge role in a Pokémon Battle. That's why Trainers have their Pokémon learn moves from types other than their own.

Narissa

Ah, this is great stuff!

[Piplup and Pikachu nod and call out, pleased.]

Brock

Knowing the kind of moves a Pokémon uses and what kind of effect it has depending on type, you'll end up gaining a decisive advantage when having a battle.

Narissa

Right.

[Brock, with Happiny, and Narissa with two Ditto, are on opposite ends.]

Brock

Now let's level you up. And the only way to do that is to get experience from battling. My Happiny here will be your opponent.

Narissa

Right! Ditto One and Ditto Two, Transform now!

[The two Ditto transform into Happiny.]

Brock

Rissa, make your move and Happiny will take them both.

[Narissa looks at her Pokédex and commands her Pokémon.]

Narissa

Right. Now Ditto One and Two, use Pound!

[Both Ditto Happiny charge into Brock's Happiny with lit arms.]

Brock

Happiny, use Pound!

[Brock's Happiny pounds into the two Ditto Happiny, blasting them so far that they fly over the three.]

Narissa

Oh! Ditto!

[Narissa runs to where the Ditto flew.]

Brock

What? Oh no!

Ash Ketchum

Man Happiny is strong.

Dawn

It's like an explosion of Pokémon.

[Brock, with Sudowoodo, and Narissa with two Ditto, are on opposite ends.]

Brock

My Sudowoodo will be your opponent next.

Narissa

Right. Okay Ditto One and Two, Transform now!

[The two Ditto obey.]

Brock

You need to either dodge your opponent's move, or block it instead and use your own move. Those are the basics of the Battle.

Narissa

Right.

Brock

So try attacking together one more time.

[Narissa looks at her Pokédex and commands her Pokémon.]

Narissa

Right. Ditto One and Two, use Hammer Arm!

[The two Ditto Sudowoodo hit Brock's Sudowoodo with the move.]

Brock

All right, now it's our turn! Give them a double shot of Hammer Arm!

[Brock's Sudowoodo swings its arms at the two Ditto Sudowoodo. The Ditto block the move.]

Narissa

Keep blocking! You can do it!

Brock

Great! Keep it up!

[The net traps the two Ditto Sudowoodo, shocking everybody.]

Narissa

Hey! What's happening?

Jessie

We're always happening. It's a natural fact.

James

We're brimming with tactless tact.

Meowth

(Big head, smiling) And your team is sacked!

Ash Ketchum

Team Rocket!

Dawn

You really ought to give it up!

Narissa

Give me back my Pokémon!

Jessie

Save your mush.

James

Watch as we give our balloon a push.

Meowth

Hear us whoosh!

[The balloon pulls up the two Ditto trapped in the net.]

Ash Ketchum

Not so fast! Pikachu!

Ash's Pikachu

(Resolute) Pika!

Jessie

All right Seviper, use Haze!

[Jessie deploys Seviper. It breathes black smoke, causing everyone to flinch. As soon as the smoke clears, the balloon disappears from our heroes' view.]

All

Huh?!

Narissa

My Ditto!

[Ash throws Staraptor's Pokéball.]

Ash Ketchum

Staraptor, find Team Rocket!

Ash's Staraptor

Star! Star! Star?

[Cut to Team Rocket.]

James

All right. Let's have a good look at our Ditto duo.

Jessie

Out we go!

2 Ditto

Ditto!

[The Ditto transform into Meowth.]

Meowth

Oy vey!

[The Meowth imitate different poses.]

3 Meowth

Meowth! Meowth! Meowth!

Jessie

A Meowth trio!

James

But which one is ours?

3 Meowth

Duh, Meowth!

James

I'm glad we got that straight!

Meowth

(In unison) Listen with your brain! I'm talking! I'm talking here!

2 Ditto Meowth

(In unison) Meow-Meow-Meow! Meow-Meow! Meow-meow!

Wobbuffet

Wobbuffet!

[Two more Wobbuffet appear each side of him. Jessie's Wobbuffet looks at both of them.]

Wobbuffet

(Confused) Wo? Wo?

3 Wobbuffet

Wob-bu!

[Jessie and James are startled.]

Jessie

Now it's the Wobbuffet trio!

Meowth

Normally my eyeballs work perfectly! But this is just whack!

James

We could just ship all three to the boss and be done with the lot.

Jessie

Excuse me, Señor Selfish. Wobbuffet happens to be my Pokémon!

Ash's Staraptor

Staraptor!

All

Wha?

Ash Ketchum

All right Team Rocket, there you are!

Narissa

Ditto!

[The Ditto Wobbuffet recognize their trainer and run towards her in excitement, transforming back to their regular formes.]

James

They're mobile!

Jessie

Come back!

[The two Ditto hug her.]

Narissa

Thank goodness. You okay?

2 Ditto

Ditto!

Meowth

You're touching my little heart, so cease!

Jessie

Those double Ditto are the pair of keys that will unlock our Sinnoh success.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, whatever that means! Pikachu!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Narissa

Let us battle them, please?

Ash Ketchum

Huh?

Dawn

But Rissa...

Brock

Good. Now go and give it your best shot.

Narissa

Right.

James

Never underestimate the power of Carnivine!

[Carnivine is deployed from James' Poké Ball. It attacks James.]

James

Chomped!

[Narissa checks Carnivine on her Pokédex.]

Narissa
