This is a transcript of the Pokémon: DP Sinnoh League Victors episode: "Dawn of a Royal Day!"

Narrator

Pressing on toward the Lakeside Resort, site of the Grand Festival, our heroes have arrived in picturesque Arrowroot Town.

[At Arrowroot Town, Ash & friends are standing outside the stadium, where a banner with the title "Pokemon Contest" is displayed]

Ash Ketchum

Wow. There's a Pokémon Contest taking place here today!

Brock

I'm a bit sorry you won't be in it.

Dawn

Since I've got five ribbons, there's no need. All right Grand Festival, full speed ahead!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Freesia

Pardon me?

Everyone

Huh?

Freesia

You must be Lady Dawn. We've been waiting for you.

[Brock is instantly infatuated and holds her hands.]

Brock

Wrong! See, I've been waiting for you. I'm Brock, but I'm also overcome by your beauty. It sends pangs of love down my- SPINE!

[-Croagunk stabs him, causing him to fall. Croagunk drags him across the ground.]

Brock

Or that's Croagunk...

Dawn

Hold on. What did you mean when you just said you've been waiting for me?

Freesia

Yes, excuse me. My name is Freesia. I've come out here to escort you to be crowned Princess Dawn just as soon as possible.

[Ash and Dawn become surprised.]

Dawn

What?! Princess?!

[Pikachu and Piplup call out, concerned.]

[The opening theme and title card plays.]

[Inside the Mansion, Ash & friends meet up with Freesia and Salvia.]

Salvia

It's like a dream come true. I can't believe I'm finally getting to meet you in person, Dawn. You were magnificent in the Wallace Cup. Piplup, you were great as well.

Dawn's Piplup

Freesia

Allow me to introduce you, if you please. The lady standing before you is Princess Salvia.

Salvia

It's a pleasure to meet you, Dawn, Ash, and Brock. I'm so honored.

[Ash and Brock react in surprise?]

Ash's Pikachu

Salvia

Oh my, of course I know who you are! I'm a huge fan of Dawn's, and I've watched all the contests and Tag Battles she's competed in.

Freesia

Princess Salvia is making a royal appearance in Arrowroot Town today as an ambassador of good will.

Freesia

However, Her Highness wishes to compete in today's Pokémon Contest.

Dawn

Wow, she does?!

Freesia

Correct, but official duties make her participation in the contest impossible.

Salvia

(Sighs)

Freesia

Which is why we'd like Lady Dawn to stand in for Her Highness.

Dawn

(Shocked) You want me to pretend I'm the Princess?

Salvia

Oh I do! (Prays) Please say that you will?

Dawn

Well...

[Dawn thinks, embarrassed. A moment later, she reveals her new look, wearing a crown, necklace...]

Dawn

Awesome!

[..and Princess uniform.]

Dawn

I've always wanted to get all dressed up just like a real princess!

[She giggles as she looks at her new dress.]

Ash Ketchum

It looks good on you!

Ash's Pikachu

[Dawn stands next to Salvia.]

Dawn (As Salvia)

My subjects!

[Ash, Brock, Pikachu and Piplup gasp in amazement.]

Brock

You two look just like twins!

Dawn's Piplup

Lup!

[Dawn and Salvia look at each other, giggling.]

Dawn

Who would have thought?

Freesia

Now then, Princess, it's time to get dressed.

Salvia

Yes!

[Salvia completes her new look, wearing Dawn's Coordinator uniform.]

Dawn

Oh wow! Feels like I'm looking into a mirror!

Brock

You two look so much alike, I'm sure no one will suspect a thing.

Salvia

I'm so honored. Although I must say your little outfit is less than regal. It embarrasses me a bit.

Freesia

Your Highness, it suits you well.

Salvia

True? Well, if you say so, I'm sure that it's fine.

[She brings out her Pokeball.]

Salvia

Togekiss, come on out!

Togekiss

Togekiss!

Dawn

A Togekiss? Huh?

[Dawn scans the Pokemon with her Pokedex.]

Pokédex

Togekiss. The Jubilee Pokémon, and the evolved form of Togetic. It is said that Togekiss never appears where there is conflict.

Salvia

The truth is, my dear Togekiss has been training hard in the hopes that one day our chance to compete would come. Right, Togekiss?

Togekiss

Togekiss!

Everyone

Huh?

[They all notice something.]

Salvia

Return!

[The Butler opens the door.]

Butler

Your Highness. Pardon me. Hm?

[Freesia leads Ash's team past the doors.]

Freesia

All right, dear guests, please step this way.

Butler

Curious. Your Highness, I don't seem to recall any sort of meeting scheduled at this time.

Dawn

Huh? (Embarrassed) Uh! No need to worry. It's cool.

Butler

Princess, that sort of language is not appropriate.

Dawn

Yes, you're right. I'm sorry.

Butler

Ahem! The greeting ceremony will begin at once. Are you ready, Your Highness?

Dawn

Huh?

Butler

Everyone you are about to meet and greet is most important to the stability of our land. As always, please make sure you are smiling at all times. Do you understand?

Dawn

I think so. (Looking at herself, sweating) Smile! Uh, like this?

[Outside, fireworks go off.]

Salvia

It won't be long now. It's almost time. I'm starting to get a little nervous.

Ash Ketchum

No need to worry. We'll be cheering you on all the way!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

Brock

Then let's get going.

Dawn's Piplup

Lup!

Salvia

Right!

[Team Rocket appear as Ash's team make their way inside the stadium.]

James

Twerps, here? The twerpette should be pleading no contest by now.

Meowth

Yeah. She's already got five ribbons under her belt. She can kick back with the rest of the twerps.

Jessie

She's here to gawk at some real talent.

James and Meowth

Huh?

[Cut to Jessie, in her Jessilina uniform and putting make-up on.]

Jessie

So I'll just give her something to gawk at. And when she puts her undivided attention on Jessilina... she'll witness a real fifth ribbon win!

Wobbuffet

Wob-buffet!

[Inside the stadium, the lights turn on and the crowd cheers.]

Marian

North, south, east, or west, wherever there's a Pokémon Contest, you and I will be there to watch the best, and cheer Coordinators on to victory. Ladies and Gentlemen, your patience is being rewarded, as it's time for the Arrowroot Town Pokémon Contest! And what a setting Arrowroot Town provides: a community surrounded by nature. And now, let me introduce you to our judges. First, our head judge, Mr. Contesta!

Mr. Contesta

Hello, everyone! I'm so excited to witness all the gifted Coordinators and their Pokémon, who have traveled here from far and wide.

Marian

Next, the head of the Pokémon Fan Club, Mister Sukizo!

Mr. Sukizo

Arrowroot Town, remarkable!

Marian

And finally, Arrowroot Town's own Nurse Joy!

Nurse Joy

So many great performances to come! I'm thrilled!

Marian

And, as always, I'll be your host for the evening, and my name's Marian!

[Jessie notices 'Dawn', annoyed.]

Jessie

(To herself) How dare that dimwit darken my contest doorway! If that twit's hanging here, that means she's competing in the contest! Talk about ego! Her sixth ribbon attempt flies in the face of my fifth!

Salvia

I know you. You're Jessilina!

Jessie

Huh?

Salvia

Pleased to meet you! It's such an honor!

Jessie

Honor? To meet me?

Salvia

I mean, although we're the best of friends, it's been much too long since I've seen you.

Jessie

(Sweating, confused) Best of friends?! What planet are you on?! You already have five ribbons, so why are you in my face now?!

Salvia

That's easy. The truth is it has always been my dream to compete in a real Pokémon Contest.

Jessie

Huh?

Salvia

So good luck, and may the best Coordinator win! (Bows) Good day.

[Salvia bows and walks away.]

Jessie

Uh? Well. Who does that twerpish sweet talker think she is with that gob of gooey "Good Day" gobbledygook? This contest is mine, and no nerd's going to rain on my ribbon parade!

[Cut to Dawn, struggling to smile as Royal guests arrive.]

Man 1

Your Highness, it is such an honor to have an audience with you today. Please do come visit my manor at your earliest possible convenience.

Dawn

Thanks! I mean thank you and have a nice day, won't you?

Man 1

Good day.

[The man bows and walks away. Dawn smiles.]

Dawn

Can't we be finished now?

Freesia

It won't be much longer. Why, there are only eighty-two more guests left.

Dawn

(Shocked) Eighty-two more guests?

Butler

Ahem.

Dawn

Never mind. Bring in the next guest.

Butler

Next guest, enter.

Marian

And now, it's time to begin round one, the Performance Stage. Please give all the Pokémon a big round of applause for their incredible performances.

Jessie

Yanmega, use Ancient Power!

[Yanmega clones itself. The copy converts into an orb. It tosses it up in the air.]

Jessie

Now, Steel Wing!

[It activates its wings and flies swiftly around the orb. The orb shatters into shards.]

Marian

Wow! And Yanmega's Steel Wing has completely shredded Ancient Power!

Jessie

Now, let's slay them with Silver Wind!

[Yanmega breaks the shards with Silver Wind.]

Jessie

All right, the big finish!

[As Yanmega lands on top of Jessie, a shower of stars glisten down around the arena.]

James

Cheers, Jess! Bravo!

Meowth

It's this kind of rocking that'll keep us alive and kicking!

Wobbuffet

Wob-buffet!

Marian

And our next entrant is: Dawn.

[The curtains open, revealing Salvia in Dawn's Coordinator uniform.]

James

(Shocked) Huh? The twerpette!

Meowth

Can't she give it a rest?

[Pikachu and Piplup cheer on.]

Ash Ketchum

Go for it, Your Highness! Oops, my bad. Go Dawn!

Salvia

Togekiss, enter please!

[As the Pokeball opens, a group of pink ribbons fall down, them reform into a crown, surrounding the entrant, Togekiss.]

Togekiss

Togekiss!

James

A Togekiss? Did she steal it? I would.

Salvia

First, Aura Sphere, let's go!

[Togekiss creates and tosses a blue ball up in the air.]

Togekiss

To!

Salvia

All right, next, use Sky Attack!.

Togekiss

Kiss!

[Togekiss glows itself and swoops up toward the ball. It shatters the ball into several bomblets.]

Salvia

Now for an elegant finish, use Air Slash!

[Togekiss spins on an axis, gathering the balls together and creating a cyclone. As Togekiss gently floats down to land, a rainbow-colored aurora surrounds it. It bows along with Salvia.]

Marian

Incredible! The rays of beautifully colorful and shimmering light are pouring down on the stage almost like an aurora!

Mr. Contesta

Simply brilliant! I fully enjoyed every one of Togekiss' moves!

Mr. Sukizo

And I might add: remarkable! NURSE JOY: I don't recall ever seeing a light show that was more stunning or wonderful.

Jessie

(Annoyed) Oh! And adding insult to injury, she has the gall to clothe herself in street wear! If that brainless boob thinks she can come between me and my fifth ribbon, she can finally grow a brain!

[Back at the mansion, Dawn slumps in exhaustion.]

Dawn

Man, I am beat.

Butler

Ahem!

[Dawn shudders.]

Butler

Then I suggest you get a second wind since you will be attending a luncheon straight away.

Dawn

(Nervous smile) Luncheon?

[The doors open.]

Dawn

Huh?

[She sees a long dinner table all set, with a lot of guests standing and watching her.]

Dawn

Eek! (Shouts) I'm not hungry!

[Back at the stadium, Salvia is with Ash and Brock.]

Salvia

I was so nervous! I just can't believe it. My heart is still pounding! Togekiss, is yours pounding too?

Togekiss

To.

Brock

Princess, please don't worry. I'm totally sure you passed the first round.

Ash Ketchum

And it wouldn't surprise me if you won the whole thing!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Salvia

You really think so? Oh, thank you! I'm so glad I came. And I'm so grateful to be able to compete in a contest. Such inspiring Coordinators and Pokémon working toward their dream. I hope you won't mind, but I must confess I've never had this much fun in my whole life.

Brock

No. I would imagine that everything is a little bit more ordered when you're living in a royal castle.

Ash Ketchum

Hey, speaking of castles, I sure hope that Dawn's holding up all right.

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-pika.

[Back at the mansion, Dawn struggles with the knife and fork.]

Butler

Ahem!

[A tomato bounces off of her plate and up into the guest's mouth. As Dawn and the Butler panic, the former presses on the table to stand up quickly, but ends up knocking the drinks over.]

Dawn

Oh no! I'm so, so sorry!

[Dawn screams and falls over in a puff of smoke.]

Butler

(Sweating, facepalms) Oh...of all the wretched blunders!

[Freesia checks on Dawn.]

Freesia

Lady Dawn, are you all right? Please don't panic.

Dawn

OK.

[Back in the stadium, the monitor shows icons of the eight remaining contestants, including Jessilina and 'Dawn'.]

Marian

These are the eight Coordinators who will be moving on to the second round. So hang on to your hats, as they compete on the exciting Contest Stage!

James

That also includes the twerpette. That Togekiss could be trouble, stolen or not.

Jessie

Puh-lease!

James

Huh?

Jessie

(Putting on Make-up) I'll win with the greatest of ease, while the twerpette flaps in the breeze. She who laughs last, laughs best. (Fire burning) Since Jessilina's talent trumps the rest!

Marian

Ladies and Gentlemen, the beautiful moves these Pokémon display are keeping everyone on the edge of our seats.

[Back at the mansion, Dawn slumps on the chair.]

Dawn

Never in all of my wildest dreams would I have thought that lunch could be so exhausting.

Freesia

Lady Dawn, I do understand you're feeling quite worn out. But there's still one tiny little duty left on your calendar for today.

Dawn

(Flustered) Huh?! A little duty?!

[Back in the stadium...]

Marian

The main event of the Arrowroot Pokémon Contest is almost upon us. But first we have a surprise. So please welcome our special guest!

[The lights turn on. At the top of the arena is 'Salvia', Freesia and the Butler. The crowd cheers.]

Marian

Gracing Arrowroot Town with her royal presence is- our goodwill ambassador, her Highness Princess Salvia!

[Dawn smiles and waves. Ash, Brock, Pikachu and Piplup are shocked.]

Brock & Ash

It's Dawn!

Dawn

Now who would've thought I'd be back at a contest dressed like this?

Butler

What was that Your Highness?

Dawn

Who, me? Nothing at all.

Marian

This is the Arrowroot Contest final stage! Our finalists are Jessilina...

Jessie

Hi!

Marian

..battling against Dawn!

[Salvia bows.]

Marian

We'll all soon know who wins the ribbon. Five minutes on the clock... Begin!

Jessie

Seviper, rocket start!

[Seviper appears.]

Jessie's Seviper

Seviper!

Salvia

Togekiss, enter please!

Togekiss

Togekiss!

James

Go Jess...ilina!

Meowth

Rustle up your last ribbon and show them you're leaner and meaner!

Dawn

You can do it, Princess! I mean, me! I mean... What do I mean? (She cringes)

Butler

You must learn to speak more softly, Princess.

Salvia

Time for an elegant performance. Togekiss, use Air Slash!

[Togekiss releases Air Slash.]

Togekiss

Togekiss!

Jessie

Seviper, use Haze!

Jessie's Seviper

Seviper!

[Haze beats Air Slash. The black smoke hits Togekiss.]

Togekiss

To!

Salvia

Togekiss!

[Togekiss, surrounded by smoke, looks around. 'Dawn' loses points on the scoreboard.]

Jessie

Opportunity knocks! Knock knock, Poison Tail!

[Seviper hits Togekiss again with Poison Tail, knocking it to the ground. Ash and Brock gasp in shock. 'Dawn' loses more points. The crowd cheers.]

Salvia

Togekiss, please! Get a hold of yourself!

Togekiss

(Struggling) To-o-o!

Jessie

Seviper, dear, wow them with Wrap!

[Seviper wraps around Togekiss.]

Jessie

OK, time for a little dance.

[Seviper puts is head on the ground and twirls Togekiss around using its tail.]

Salvia

Huh?!

Jessie

Showtime at Arrowroot!

[Seviper tosses Togekiss up in the air and falls to the ground. 'Dawn' loses a huge chunk of points.]

Marian

Wow, Seviper's attacks are nothing short of overwhelming!

[Team Rocket celebrate in excitement.]

James

Yes! I smell victory!

Meowth

Smells like ribbon number five's gonna keep the three of us alive!

Wobbuffet

Wob-buffet!

[Ash's team are deeply concerned.]

Brock

Seviper's attack was devastating.

Ash Ketchum

You can do it, Togekiss!

[Pikachu and Piplup encourage Salvia and Togekiss.]

Salvia

Togekiss, get up! Please get up!

Togekiss

(Struggling)To...

Salvia

Huh? (To herself) Maybe this was a ridiculous idea, for someone like me to think they could enter a Pokémon Contest?

Dawn

(To Salvia) Don't give up hope!

Salvia

Huh?

Dawn

You've trained hard for today, haven't you? Both you and Togekiss have sacrificed everything for this, haven't you? Give it your all 'til the end! It isn't over 'til it's over!

[The Butler holds Dawn back.]

Butler

Your Highness! You must stop at once!

[Jessie becomes exasperated.]

Marian

And Princess Salvia offers up some surprise words of encouragement!

Jessie

(Pointing to Dawn) No fair! You're to be royally impartial! No one likes Princess Prejudice!

Salvia

Whoa, Dawn!

[She looks ahead and concentrates.]

Jessie

Whatever. We'll trounce that tacky twerpette.

Salvia

She's right, Togekiss! It's not over just yet!

Jessie

Let's use a Bite attack with bam!

Salvia

Use Safeguard, quick!

[As both Pokemon set up their moves, Safeguard blocks Seviper and sends him back crash landing close to Jessie. Jessilina loses big points. Team Rocket react in shock.]

Brock

Togekiss doubled the point damage to Seviper because it was so close! Excellent!

Ash Ketchum

Do it, Togekiss!

Salvia

Air Slash, now!

[Air Slash hits Seviper in a puff of smoke. Jessie flinches and screams. The scoreboard updates again.]

Marian

Both point levels are about the same! This match is nearly impossible to predict!

Jessie

I'll just save you the trouble. Seviper, all right, use Poison Tail!

Jessie's Seviper

Seviper...

Salvia

I will never give up! Togekiss, use Aura Sphere!

[As both Pokemon approach each other, Seviper dodges Togekiss' Aura Sphere. As Seviper attempts to attack with its tail, Togekiss dodges.]

Salvia

Use Aura Sphere once more!

[Togekiss hits Seviper with the move.]

Jessie

Seviper!

[Seviper crashes to the ground and faints.]

Jessie's Seviper

(Weakly) Seviper...

[Jessie mumbles in dismay. The crosses appear on the judges' score panels. The scoreboard updates, with Jessilina's bar empty.]

Marian

Seviper is unable to battle! So Togekiss is the victor! And the winner of the Arrowroot Ribbon is... Dawn!

[The crowd cheers as an icon of 'Dawn' and her Togekiss the winner banner is displayed. Salvia laughs. Ash's team celebrate.]

Ash Ketchum

She did it!

Brock

That was brilliant! An amazing victory!

Dawn

(Waving) Your Highness, you were awesome!

Butler

Huh?

Dawn

(Realizes) Uh, right! That's Dawn! (Giggles)

[Salvia laughs. The award ceremony is underway, as the judges present their medal to Salvia.]

Mr. Contesta

To celebrate your victory at the Arrowroot Contest, I present you with the Arrowroot Ribbon! Congratulations.

Salvia

Thank you very much!

[Salvia takes the ribbon, and shows it to Togekiss.]

Togekiss

Togekiss!

[The crowd clap and cheer.]

Marian

And that wraps up another Arrowroot Town Pokémon Contest! Thanks for coming, and we'll see you next time!

[Back in the locker room, a miserable Jessie slumps on the bench in disgust.]

James

Cheer up, Jessie. You were exemplary.

Meowth

Dang it! You were really great, too!

Wobbuffet

(Quietly) Wob-bu!

[Jessie sighs. The rest of Team Rocket notice a shadow of 'Dawn' through the glass doors. They see 'Dawn' about to open the door and panic.]

Meowth

Let's scram, it's the twerpette! Yikes! Spread out!

[They hide behind the bush. Salvia meets up with Jessie.]

Jessie

(Annoyed) Got a problem?

[Salvia offers Jessie the ribbon she just won.]

Jessie

Huh?

Salvia

It's my way of thanking you for battling with me on the final stage today.

[Salvia puts the ribbon on Jessie's lap.]

Salvia

Please take it.

[Jessie picks up the ribbon and looks at it.]

Jessie

A ribbon! Wow! (Suspicious) Why are you giving this to me?

Salvia

I will never forget the joy of this day for as long as I live. It was a pleasure to finally get to meet you, miss Jessilina. Thank you for everything.

[Salvia bows and walks off. Jessie gets up and looks at her.]

Jessie

Wait, but why?

[The other Team Rocket members stand up from behind the bush.]

James

"Joy of this day for as long as I live?" "It was a pleasure?"

[Jessie becomes enraged.]

Meowth

I think she should be wearing a bigger hat.

Jessie

Just because she's wearing her street clothes she thinks she's so high and mighty! That obnoxious voice! No charity!

James

Don't pitch it! The Grand Festival! You can go now!

[Jessie looks closely at her ribbon.]

Meowth

(Upset, flapping his arms) I can totally see that you don't want pity from a dingy twerpette, but dig! Getting your mitts on a ribbon is tricky to say the least.

Jessie

For a dweeb, she's really not so bad.

James, Meowth and Wobbuffet

(Exasperated)

Jessie

All right, world... I've done it! Jessilina has acquired the Arrowroot ribbon fair and square!

[The others are unconvinced.]

Jessie

Don't you three realize? Winning my fifth ribbon means (Shouts) The Grand Festival!

Meowth and James

(Deadpan salute) Right. Here's to revelation.

Wobbuffet

Wob-buffet!

[Back in the mansion, Dawn and Salvia are back to their normal uniforms. Dawn puts her signature hat on.]

Dawn

There! Now this is more like it, don't you think?

[Salvia giggles.]

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Freesia

I can't thank you enough, Lady Dawn!

Salvia

Thanks to you, I have wonderful memories to take with me. Although, I still have one favor to ask of you.

Dawn

Favor? What?

Salvia

Will you take my Togekiss with you? On your journey. Please?

Dawn

Your Togekiss?

Salvia

Correct. I think it's in Togekiss' best interest to go with somebody just like you. You're in the Grand Festival. I think it would be wonderful!

Ash Ketchum

It looked to me like Togekiss really likes to perform in front of a crowd.

Togekiss

(Happy) Togekiss!

Dawn

I see... (Confidently) Okay, deal!

Salvia

(Smiling, offering a Pokeball) Then it's settled! I know you'll take great care of Togekiss!

Dawn

What do you say, Togekiss? Want to come?

[Dawn takes the Pokeball and shows it to Togekiss.]

Togekiss

(Nods, happily) To!

[Dawn returns the Pokeball. Dawn and Salvia laugh. A knocking on the door is heard. The Butler opens them and enters.]

Butler

Pardon me... Hm?

Dawn

We've got to be going now.

Ash Ketchum

Bye, Your Highness.

Brock

Take good care of yourself.

[Pikachu and Piplup call out.]

Butler

Princess, your manners were less than desirable, today. You must do better, Your Highness.

Salvia

(Nods) I will.

Narrator

A brush with royalty, and a switch in identities have given our heroes a day they will never forget, not to mention Dawn's brand new Pokémon friend, Togekiss! And now, with eyes on the future, the journey continues.

[The caption "To Be Continued" shows at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
