DP168: Pokémon Ranger: Heatran Rescue!/Transcript

This is a transcript of the Pokémon: DP Sinnoh League Victors episode: "Pokémon Ranger: Heatran Rescue!".

[The scene starts with Ash & friends preparing a barbecue. Dawn is cutting some carrots while Brock sets up a tripod.]

Brock

Hey, Ash, would you bring over some kindling, please?

[Ash picks up some logs.]

Ash Ketchum

Sure thing. Right away!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

Dawn

Mm, Look at these!

[Dawn shows freshly-sliced carrots to Piplup.]

Dawn

We're talking fresh, Piplup.

Dawn's Piplup

(Excited, flapping arms) Lup! Piplup!

Narrator

As our heroes continue their Sinnoh region journey, a quiet moment provides time for a riverside lunch. But little do they know that just upstream...

Ben

Huh? All right! I've found it!

[A Heatran scales the volcano. It shoots Eruption up toward the sky.]

Ben

That special Heatran can use Eruption, wow! (On communicator) This is Pokémon Ranger Ben. Target found (Over communicator) Beginning capture procedure.

Team Member 1

Roger that. Good luck, Ranger.

[Ben turns off his communicator.]

Ben

All right, it's time to take you to the National Park. Go!

[Ben scans the Pokemon with his styler.]

Ben

Capture...

[Suddenly the ground rumbles.]

Ben

Hold on!

[Heatran, startled, crawls out of the volcano.]

Ben

Heatran!

[Ben sees a Pidgeot flying at the scene.]

Ben

Huh? A Pidgeot. Yeah, that should work. Capture on!

[Ben deploys his styler. It glows and spins around Pidgeot. It then returns to Ben, pose with a strong arm.]

Ben

Yes! Capture complete. Pidgeot!

[Pidgeot responds and swoops down to Ben, who jumps on Pidgeot's back.]

Ben

Now, follow that Heatran!

[Pidgeot obeys and chases after Heatran.]

Ben

There it is! All right, Pidgeot, fly toward Heatran!

[Pidgeot swoops down closer to Heatran...under the eyes of Team Rocket.]

James

Drat! Just when we find a healthy Heatran, we get out-found!

Jessie

We'd better rise to the occasion, or that Pokémon Ranger will.

James

Then we'll show that Heatran some serious heat!

Jessie

Meowth, we need one Heatran tagged in its tracks.

Meowth

Just relax, I'll give it some whacks.

[Meowth presses a button on his remote.]

[Cut to the chase. Ben scans Heatran with his capture styler.]

Ben

It won't be long now...

[Robo-diglett drills up in-front of Heatran, blocking him.]

Ben

What was that?!

Meowth

Our Robo-Diglett rocks hard! It'll break those boulders and hit Heatran where it hurts.

[Meowth presses the buttons repeatedly. Robo-Diglett hurls rocks toward Heatran, Ben and Pidgeot. Heatran, becoming scared, turns back.]

Meowth

Robo-Diglett can dig, but its pitching needs work!

James

Exit stage right!

[Cut to Pidgeot, trying to dodge the boulders.]

Ben

Pidgeot, get us up and out of here!

[One rock hits Pidgeot and knocks Ben off.]

Ben

Ranger Sign!

[Ben throws the styler down to the ground.]

Ben

Feraligatr!

[The styler draws a pattern. Feraligatr appears. Ben screams as he continues falling toward the water, but Feraligatr rescues him as they splash, and moves onward.]

[The opening theme "We Will Carry On!" and title card plays.]

[As Dawn continues preparing food, a big splash is heard as Ben and Feraligatr in the distance fall down the waterfall.]

Dawn

Huh?

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup?

[They stop.]

Ash Ketchum

What was that?

Brock

Let's check it out.

[They run over to find the source, revealing to be Ben and Feraligatr returning to shore.]

Brock

Someone's on top!

Dawn

Something's wrong. We'd better help him.

[Feraligatr puts the fainted Ben on the ground.]

Ash Ketchum

Man, he looks bad.

Ben

Huh? (Heroic) My name's Pokémon Ranger Ben!

Ash, Brock & Dawn

Pokémon Ranger?

Ben

(Heroic) That's right! And I've got one job: To spend my time protecting peace and justice for people and Pokémon!

Ash Ketchum

My name is Ash.

Dawn

Hi, my name's Dawn.

Brock

And I'm Brock. See, that Feraligatr carried you downstream here to us.

Ben

Thanks a lot, Feraligatr!

[Feraligatr dives back in the water.]

Dawn

So does that mean Feraligatr's your partner?

Ben

Yeah. Well, it comes to me when I summon it using the Ranger Sign.

Dawn

Ranger Sign?

Ben

The Ranger Sign is a way of summoning Pokémon that I've bonded with in the past. I just use my Capture Styler!

[Ben points at his wrist, assuming it's his Capture Styler, but realizes it's not there. He yelps in panic and looks around himself.]

Ben

Agh! I can't believe it! It's not there! My Capture Styler is missing! What am I gonna do?! (Calms down) One thing.

[The others, exasperated, fall to the ground.]

Ben

Uh, have you guys seen a Heatran around here?

Dawn

A Heatran?

[Dawn scans the Pokemon in her Pokedex.]

Pokédex

Heatran. The Lava Dome Pokémon. Heatran lives in volcanic caves and uses its cross-shaped claws to maneuver across stone walls.

Ash Ketchum

How come? Is something wrong?

Ben

Well, I discovered a special Heatran that can use Eruption.

Dawn

Special?

Brock

A normal Heatran can't learn Eruption.

Dawn

That's amazing.

Ben

(Frustrated) I was so close to bringing that Heatran back to the National Park when I lost sight of it! (Groans) But it's okay.

[The others are confused and sweatdrop.]

Ben

No matter what happens, I'm still a Pokémon Ranger!

[The others are relieved.]

Dawn

Nice recovery.

Brock

Right, It is good to look at the bright side.

Ben

Right! Finding that Heatran is job one! I may have lost my capture styler, but I may have met some nice people to help me.

Everyone

Huh?

Ben

Do you think you'd be able to give me a hand?

Ash Ketchum

Sure! Sounds like a real blast!

Ben

Great! Let's go!

[Ben runs immediately in a direction, confusing the others.]

Ben

Come on!

Dawn

Someone's in a rush.

[Cut to Team Rocket, slump-walking along a pathway.]

Jessie

Aww. We were so close to taking ownership of that Heatran.

James

Ah, if only to be given a second chance to catch that scampering scamp.

Meowth

Yeah, fat chance.

[Meowth sees something shiny up ahead.]

Meowth

Hey, look over there!

Jessie

Wasn't the Pokémon Ranger carrying that thing?

James

That's a Capture Styler. It allows one to capture Pokémon and control them at will.

Jessie

Well, our fugitive Heatran's a Pokémon, is it not?

James

Signs point to yes.

Meowth

Yeah! So if we used this baby to capture Heatran and bring it to the boss...

[Meowth's dream plays. Kebabs are being barbecued on Heatran's back by Giovanni. He eats half the kebab.]

Giovanni (In Meowth's voice)

I'll tell you, everything tastes much better when it's cooked using Heatran heat!

[In the next scene, Giovanni pours water onto Heatran's back. He sits and relaxes in a sauna.]

Giovanni (In Meowth's voice)

And there's nothing more relaxing than a Heatran sauna.

[Next, Giovanni is sat wearing a dressing gown having a glass of red wine, with Heatran warming inside of a fireplace.]

Giovanni (In Meowth's voice)

'course, eating the old mansion with Heatran power allows me to go green and save green as well! You know, Meowth and friends deserve some serious green for giving me such a thoughtful and rocking gift!

[Meowth's dream ends. He is holding the Capture Styler.]

Meowth

His gifts rock!

Team Rocket

(Singing) No wonder we're smiling, 'cause soon we'll be styling, and be rich!

Jessie

And we won't have to match wits with those tacky twerps. Though I only use half my wits, to keep it fair.

Wobbuffet

Wob-buffet!

[Cut to Ben and the gang, walking up the mountain.]

Ben

The Heatran must be nearby. I feel it.

Dawn

But really, how can you be so sure?

Ben

Don't worry. So long as we keep moving, we're bound to find it.

Brock

You're always looking at the bright side of things, so what's your secret?

Ben

I always remember the motto that's been in my family for generations.

Ash Ketchum

A motto?

Ben

Right. I was actually the most negative kid you'd ever want to meet. When faced with an obstacle, no matter how small, I'd always give up. But when I was down, my grandfather always said: "Remember, son, it's always better to try than to cry." Great words to live by.

Ash Ketchum

But what did he mean by that?

Ben

You can either try and get things done or sit around complaining, but not both. You know, if you don't succeed, try, try again. So now, no matter what happens, I know that so long as I keep trying, things will work out.

Ash Ketchum

Makes sense.

Dawn

But if you're gonna find Heatran, you must have a plan?

Ben

I sure do!

[Ben kneels down and feels the ground with both his palms.]

Ash Ketchum

Hey, what're you doing?

Ash's Pikachu

Pika?

Ben

Checking the temperature of the ground.

Ash Ketchum

But why?

Ben

Heatran always live near volcanoes, so it stands to reason that it would be somewhere where the ground feels warm to the touch.

Ash Ketchum

Wow, that makes sense to me.

Dawn

That's why you're a Pokémon Ranger!

Brock

Wow, your knowledge of Pokémon is huge!

Ben

Yeah! Now we're getting somewhere.

[Ben stands up and carries on walking. The others follow. After distance, Ben touches the ground again, three more times.]

Ben

Hmm, warmer...

[They walk toward a tunnel. Behind the tunnel, Ben feels the ground again.]

Ben

The ground's especially warm around here.

Brock

It could have something to do with the flow of magma, right?

Ash Ketchum

Awesome, Let's check it out!

Ben

Right!

[They walk inside the tunnel. Team Rocket watch over them from behind a rock.]

Meowth

Give me a break! Mixing twerps with a Pokémon Ranger could make this Pokémon sick!

James

Still, if the ranger's nearby, that could mean Heatran's nearby, true?

Jessie

Think of it, we could conveniently use that captured Capture Styler to capture Heatran and Pikachu, true?

Meowth & James

Yay!

[Back to Ben and the gang, walking inside the tunnel.]

Ben

The ground temperature's really rising now, just like I thought!.

[As Team Rocket follow, Meowth's feet start burning in the ground. He screams, jumps in the air and touches his red feet. Jessie and James grab Meowth.]

Meowth

It's more fun giving a hotfoot than getting one!

[Brock stops and looks at something.]

Brock

That's strange. Up there!

[Up ahead of them is a room of molten magma. They run inside, encountering a pool of lava with molten rocks.]

Ash Ketchum

Whoa.

Brock

It's like a lake of lava.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah.

Dawn

(Pointing up) Look up there!

[On the ceiling is Heatran.]

Ash Ketchum

It's Heatran!

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

[Heatran glows red.]

Ben

That's its special ability, Flash Fire. Heatran's absorbing all of the heat from the magma flow.

Dawn

I'm glad we found it, but what are you gonna do now?

Ben

Hmm... I could catch it, if I only had my Styler.

Ash Ketchum

So why don't you just catch Heatran with a poké ball?

Ben

That's out of the question!

Ash Ketchum

Huh?

Ben

A major part of my mission is to make sure Heatran's brought back to the National Park completely untouched.

[He groans, putting hands on his head.]

Ben

Of all the bad times to lose my Capture Styler! (Confident) Well, why cry over spilt milk?

[The others shudder, worried.]

Ben

Better to try than cry!

[The other are relieved again.]

Dawn

The master of bouncing back!

Ben

Let's go!

[Ben takes off.]

Brock

I admire your optimism, but that's dangerous!

[Ben stops and turns back to Brock.]

Ben

(Heroic) Never say never! Onward and upward!

[The ground rumbles again. The ground up high is drilled through.]

Ben

Argh! What's that?

[As the dust clears, Robo-Diglett appears.]

Ben

A Diglett?! What is going on here?!

[Team Rocket appear, Meowth is wearing flip-flops with supporting soles.]

Jessie

It's a Robo-Diglett, thank you very much.

James

Guess the optimist's out of touch!

Jessie

On the wind!

James

Past the stars!

Meowth

Winning in the clutch!

Jessie

Bringing chaos at a breakneck pace!

James

Dashing hope, putting fear in its place!

Jessie

A rose by any other name's just as sweet!

James

When everything's worse, our work is complete!

Jessie

It's Jessie.

James

And James.

Meowth

Meowth, that's a name!

Jessie

Putting the do-gooders in their places!

James

We're Team Rocket...

Team Rocket

..In your faces!

Ben

Team Rocket?!

Ash Ketchum

See, they're a bunch of guys with one job and one job only.

Ben

Is it to protect peace and justice? For people and Pokémon?

[The others become sheepish.]

Ash Ketchum

Nah, Team Rocket's job is to steal people's Pokémon.

[Ben shudders.]

Ash Ketchum

(To Team Rocket, angrily) What do you want this time?

Ash's Pikachu

Pika-Pika!

Jessie

We'll be taking the heat with Heatran, man!

Meowth

And we've got just the super-cool toy to do it with, dig?

James

(Laughs) Feast your eyes!

[James raises the Capture Styler up high.]

Ben

Hey, how did you get a hold of my Styler?

James

No, my Styler! (Points to Heatran) Prepare yourself, Heatran, to hang upon my every word!

Meowth and Jessie

Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!

James

A styler with style! Capture on!

[James puts his arm forward with the Capture Styler. It does nothing.]

Meowth

Your style's a big zero.

Jessie

What's with the dud?

Ben

Did you think that was going to work for you?!

Team Rocket

Huh?

Ben

I'm the only one who can use that styler! Besides that, if you really want to capture a Pokémon, you've got to bond with it!

James

Oh drat, and it looks so cool.

Ben

Now give it back!

James

Take it! And it doesn't look cool!

[James prepares to throw the Capture Styler, but Meowth turns to him and puts his arms out wide.]

Meowth

Stop, stooge! If you give it back, he's just gonna capture Heatran!

James

Right! Point well taken, I must say.

Jessie

Let's do this the old-fashioned way. Meowth, please!

Meowth

With ease!

[Meowth is on the remote.]

Meowth

When it comes to spinning a mean web, we're the bomb! Try and stay calm!

[Meowth presses a button. Nets shoot out of Robo-Diglett in a bid to capture Heatran. The Lava Dome Pokemon uses Eruption, breaking the nets.]

Ben

That was Heatran's Eruption!

[Team Rocket shudder as Eruption explodes close to them and Robo-Diglett. The ground breaks up beneath Heatran. Rocks fall into the lava.]

Ben

Heatran's in trouble!

[Ben carefully moves ahead and traverses the ground.]

Ash Ketchum

Hold on, Ben, what're you doing?!

Ben

This whole area's gonna collapse any minute! I'm getting my Styler back and getting Heatran out of here, quick!

[Ben keeps going.]

Dawn

Ben, but that's a lava pool!

[Ben steps onto a molten rock. The heat gets into his shoes. He yelps in pain.]

Dawn

This is crazy!

Brock

We need ice and water to cool things down!

Ash Ketchum

Right, Brock!

Dawn

Let's cool where he's standing first, Piplup! Use Whirlpool, now!

[Piplup uses Whirlpool on the molten rock.]

Dawn

That'll do it!

Dawn's Piplup

(Determined) Piplup!

Ash's Pikachu

(Determined) Pika!

Ash Ketchum

All right!

Ash Ketchum

(Throwing his Pokeball) Buizel!

Dawn

(Throwing her Pokeball) Buneary!

[Buizel and Buneary are deployed.]

Ash's Buizel

Bui-Bui!

Dawn's Buneary

Bune!

Ash Ketchum

Buizel, use Water Gun!

Dawn

Piplup, use Whirlpool, Buneary, Ice Beam at the same time!

[They all aim around where Ben's standing. The rocks cool down. Ben looks back, grateful.]

Ben

Wow, everybody, thanks!

[Ben jumps from rock to rock.]

James

No fair, I want my Heatran!

Meowth

'kay!

[As Team Rocket shoot more nets, Heatran uses Eruption again, destroying them and causing an explosion near Robo-Diglett.]

James

Curses!

Jessie

Simply sic Robo-Diglett on that hothead, and capture it straight away!

Meowth

Whatever you say! Robo-Diglett, hey hey!

[Robo-Diglett converts into its insect form, growing four legs and four arms as grabbers.]

Meowth

Now, to get our big lug into capture mode! Hit the road!

[Meowth presses a button. Robo Diglett scales and crawls along the wall toward Heatran. Heatran uses Eruption again, but Robo-Diglett blocks it by putting its arms together in a wall.]

Meowth

Counterstrike, dude!

[Meowth presses a button. Robo-Diglett pounds the ground with its arms, hurling rocks around Heatran's territory. The ground crackles.]

Ben

That wall won't hold! (Angry Grunt)

Jessie

That's how it's done!

James

What fun!

[The Capture Styler shines. Bean notices and goes after James on his ledge.]

Ben

Give it back!

[Ben tries to snatch the Capture Styler off of James' gloves, while James tries to snatch it back.]

James

Get your capturing claws off of my Styler!

Ben

It's my Styler, you petty thieves!

[Ben successfully grabs hold if it.]

Ben

Good!

James

Not good.

[Team Rocket start threatening.]

Meowth

(To Ben) Use that Styler, and Heatran goes back to you, and that won't do!

Jessie

Enough of you!

[As Team Rocket edge closer, Ben steps further back, but pieces of the rocky ledge disintegrate. Ben loses his footing and screams as he falls, but manages to hang on to the ledge with both hands.]

James

And checkmate.

Jessie

Pass the Styler if you don't want to swim in that hot soup.

[Ash's gang gasp.]

Ash Ketchum

Quick, Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!

Ash's Pikachu

Pikachu! Pika...chu!

[Pikachu electrocutes Team Rocket with Thunderbolt.]

Ash Ketchum

All's clear, Ben!

Ben

All right! Thanks, Ash!

[Team Rocket, paralyzed, faint on the ground. Meowth drops his remote as it falls down the ledge and into the lava, malfunctioning and exploding. Robo-Diglett also malfunctions.]

Ben

That Robo-Diglett's out of control!

[Heatran destroys the robot with Eruption. The ground around him breaks off.]

Brock

Heatran's in trouble!

Ben

Leave it to me, Brock!

[Ben kicks back and falls down. In mid-air...]

Ben

Ranger Sign! Feraligatr!

[Ben spins his Capture Styler down to the circular platform. The Styler draws a symbol before Feraligatr appears.]

Feraligatr

Feraligatr!

[Ben lands on Feraligatr's back.]

Ben

Feraligatr, I need your help again!

[As Ben jumps off, Heatran starts falling. Everyone else shudders.]

Ben

Use Ice Beam on the lava!

[Feraligatr aims Ice Beam on the lava, creating a ice-disc which steams over. The lava disappears, leaving just rock. Heatran crash lands right-side up onto the ground, creating a plume of dust. Everyone gasps. As the dust clears, Heatran is revealed to be OK. Everyone exclaims in delight.]

Heatran

Heatran!

Ben

Feraligatr, thanks a lot!

Feraligatr

Feraligatr!

[Feraligatr disappears. Cut to Team Rocket on the ground as it starts shaking again, becoming alert after rocks start falling down.]

Jessie

Oh, my head.

Meowth

Not exactly peace and justice down here.

James

Hey, what's with the raining rocks?

Jessie

I don't want to stick around and find out!

Meowth

So, let's quit while we're ahead, like grown-ups!

James

Mature words to live by!

Team Rocket

Aye!

Jessie

Buh-bye!

James

Buh-bye!

Meowth

Buh-bye!

[Team Rocket run into the tunnel.]

Team Rocket

Blast off!

[Ash and Dawn return their Pokemon as rocks fall down around them.]

Dawn

We've got to go before it's too late!

Ash Ketchum

C'mon, Ben, hurry up!

[Ben is trying to get Heatran's attention.]

Ben

Heatran! It's dangerous here, you've got to listen to me! I'm going to take you to the national park, where it's safe! Capture on!

[Ben spins his Capture Styler. It glows and surrounds Heatran, glowing itself white before fading back to normal.]

Ben

Capture complete! Huh?

[The ground shakes and rocks fall.]

Ben

Heatran! Come with me, now!

Heatran

Heatran!

[Ben points to the cave's exit.]

Ben

Over here!

[Rocks continue crumbling. Everyone runs out of the cave. As they make it out, the cave completely breaks down.]

Ash Ketchum

Man, that was a close one!

Ash's Pikachu

(Relieved) Pika-Pika!

[Ben talks on his communicator.]

Ben

Heatran has been captured safe and sound. (Over Communicator) Requesting helicopter for transport.

Team Member 1

Roger that.

[The Helicopter ascends.]

Dawn

I can't believe you managed to rescue Heatran from a bad situation like that.

Dawn's Piplup

Piplup!

Brock

From now on, I'm gonna remember your motto all the time.

Ash Ketchum

Yeah, me too!

Ash's Pikachu

Pika!

Ben

Well, one thing's for sure, and that's that I couldn't have done it without all of you.

[Ben offers a handshake.]

Ben

Thanks for everything, Ash.

[Ash accepts the handshake.]

Ash Ketchum

Now you remember to keep on working hard to help people and Pokémon everywhere!

Ben

Right! You can count on me! I'm a Pokémon Ranger! I've got one job, and you hit it on the head. Protecting peace and justice for people and Pokémon!

Dawn

That's an optimist for you!

Brock

You bet!

[Ash and friends smile. Suddenly, they hear the helicopter coming down to land.]

Ash Ketchum

It looks like Ben's helicopter's here!

Ash's Pikachu

Pikachu!

[Inside the helicopter, Ben waves goodbye to Ash & friends, who wave back.]

Ash Ketchum

OK, guys, it's full speed ahead for us, too!

Ash's Pikachu

(Enthusiastic) Pika-Pika!

[Everyone else nods.]

Narrator

And so, as a grateful Heatran safely heads to the national park, along with the Pokémon Ranger who rescued it, our heroes can once again explore the wonder and adventures the Sinnoh region has to offer, as the journey continues!

[The caption "To Be Continued" shows at the bottom of the screen. The credits appear.]
