This is a transcript of the Pokémon: DP Galactic Battles episode: "A Pyramiding Rage!".
- Narrator:
(A recap of the Gym Battle between Ash and Candice is shown.) The battle between Ash and Snowpoint City Gym Leader Candice was hard fought indeed. And the give and take on both sides head spinning. But in the end, it was Ash is the winner with his seventh Sinnoh Gym Badge, reality. When suddenly... (Paul enters the scene and sees Ash, Brock, Dawn, Zoey, and Candice near the Snowpoint City Gym.)
- Ash:
Paul.
- Paul:
So, you must be Candice the Gym Leader?
- Candice:
Y-yes!
- Paul:
I challenge you to a Gym Battle.
- Candice:
I'm sure you must have come a long way for this, but I just finished a battle with Ash, and I like to give the gang a rest. How about tomorrow, then?
- Paul:
Alright then. Tomorrow it is. (Paul walks away and then immediately stops after Ash calls him.)
- Ash:
(As he shows the Icicle Badge to Paul.) Hey, Paul. Check it out. I just got my seventh badge. One more and I'm in the Sinnoh League. How many do you have?
- Paul:
That's none of your business. (Paul walks away.)
- Ash:
What's his problem?
- Brock:
Ash, that's how he is.
- Zoey:
Who is?
- Dawn:
His name is Paul. He's really Ash's rival. They seem to get into fights whenever they meet.
- Candice:
Dawn? You and Zo-Zo are rivals too. That's nothing like this, that's for sure. (The intro to Pokémon DP: Galactic Battles begins. The title screen shows "A Pyramiding Rage!" Meanwhile in the Snowpoint City Pokémon Center at night, Brock is drinking hot cocoa with Happiny in his left arm, Zoey petting Glameow, and Dawn sitting with Piplup in her arms.)
- Zoey:
Wow. I've got to admit, I'm surprised Paul was Chimchar's first trainer. Whoa. And from what I can see, Ash and Paul couldn't be more different if they try.
- Brock:
Which is exactly why the two of them couldn't ignore each other if they try.
- Dawn:
Speaking of Ash, where did he go? (Meanwhile in the field outside of Snowpoint City, Paul's Magmar uses Flamethrower on Electabuzz, and Electabuzz reacts by blocking the attack.)
- Paul:
That's good. Now use Flamethrower and face the sky. (Magmar points its head upwards and fires a Flamethrower at the sky.) Good.
- Ash:
(Runs to the field to meet Paul again.) Hey, Paul.
- Paul:
Huh?
- Ash:
Man, you should have seen how totally awesome Grotle was today. I want to thank Torterra again for the help. (Paul recalls Magmar to its Poké Ball.) That battling style Torterra showed us a while back worked out really well.
- Paul:
You said you were serious about wanting to win in Snowpoint City. So, why do you still need Torterra to hold your hand. (Ash and Pikachu growl angrily at Paul. Paul makes his way to the house.) Using a Grass-type in an Ice-type Gym? I guess you chocked that up to blind faith.
- Zoey:
(She stands in Paul's way, scolding him as he makes his way to the house.) Stop right there! Just who do you think you are!
- Dawn:
Zoey, stop! (Dawn pulls Zoey out of Paul's way.)
- Zoey:
He has no right talking like that.
- Ash:
It's okay, Zoey.
- Paul:
Hmph. (Paul gains access to the house and walks his way through the hallway.)
- Zoey:
I just hope tomorrow at the Gym Battle, Miss Senior wipes the floor with that jerk. (Dawn turns to Zoey, worried about her hatred for Paul. Meanwhile, Reggie is in his car making his way to Snowpoint City until he meets Paul who just exited the Pokémon Center.)
- Reggie:
Huh? (Reggie stops the car as Paul approaches the street. He honks the car to signal Paul.)
- Paul:
Reggie?
- Reggie:
(He opens the door of his car and gets out to meet Paul.) Hey, Paul. How's it going? (Meanwhile, Ash, Brock, Dawn, and Zoey are inside the Pokémon Center watching the Sinnoh weather report on the news. Ash looks out the window and notices Reggie is outside with Paul.)
- Ash:
Reggie!
- Dawn:
(She also looks out the window to see Reggie.) Wow! It's true!
- Zoey:
(She looks out the window to see Reggie, unaware of who he is.) Who's that guy?
- Dawn:
That's Paul's big brother, Reggie. He's a breeder down in Veilstone City.
- Reggie:
Have you gotten past the Snowpoint Gym?
- Paul:
Coming soon.
- Reggie:
Well, keep in mind that Candice is tough.
- Paul:
I've got a plan for her. (Ash, Brock, Dawn, and Zoey all go outside of the center to meet Reggie.)
- Ash:
Reggie!
- Reggie:
Would you look at that. Wow, it's been a long time.
- Dawn:
Yeah. It really has.
- Ash:
It's great to see you. What are you doing here?
- Reggie:
I just finished bringing a Pokémon I was watching back to its trainer. You challenging the Snowpoint Gym too?
- Ash:
Yeah. I battled Candice yesterday and won the badge.
- Reggie:
Really? Awesome. Hey, hear that, Paul? It's great, huh?
- Paul:
Hmph.
- Reggie:
Okay if I come watch your battle?
- Paul:
Whenever you want.
- Zoey:
Man, that guy Paul may be the total opposite of Ash, but he's absolutely nothing like his brother either.
- Dawn:
For sure. (Piplup looks up at the sky seeing something from a distance. Until then, Ash, Brock, Dawn, and Zoey, Paul, and Reggie feel an earthquake rumbling.)
- Ash:
What's that! (A shadow is casting from above. They all look upward, noticing the Battle Pyramid floating from above.)
- Dawn:
What's that! (Piplup is also confused about the Battle Pyramid. Ash and Pikachu realize that it's the Battle Pyramid he saw earlier.)
- Ash:
It's the Battle Pyramid! (Pikachu also affirms this.)
- Reggie:
Wow. You guys know about that thing?
- Ash:
Yeah. I finally beat it, but it took me a bunch of times.
- Paul:
(Shocked about Ash beating the Battle Pyramid.) What?! You beat it?! (The Battle Pyramid flies past the Snowpoint City Pokémon Center. Somewhere around the city, Team Rocket is witnessing the pyramid.)
- Jessie:
Tell me that's not the Battle Pyramid.
- James:
I'd be lying if I didn't know from Kanto it's quite a haul.
- Meowth:
Even Fly Boy's need a change of scene. (Wobbuffet comes out of its Poké Ball.)
- Jessie:
No way. (The Battle Pyramid flies past the Snowpoint City Gym. Candice runs out of the gym to witness the pyramid flying over her.)
- Candice:
Wow. (Inside the floating Battle Pyramid, Brandon is piloting the pyramid while Samuel is transmitting a streaming video feed.)
- Samuel:
Transmission from the Snowpoint City Pokémon Center. (The screen shows a transmission from the Snowpoint City Pokémon Center where Ash, Brock, and Dawn are on-screen contacting Brandon.)
- Ash:
Hey, Brandon. Long time no see. It's Ash from Pallet Town.
- Brandon:
I'll be. So, how are you, kid. (The Battle Pyramid lands on in a clearing of Snowpoint City. The propellers stop spinning and insert back into the deck. The pyramid's decks close down and the front door opens. Back in Snowpoint City, Reggie is driving his car to the location of the Pyramid with Paul, Ash, Brock, Dawn, and Zoey.)
- Dawn:
Ash. Did you say Battle Pyramid?
- Brock:
Yeah. It was the final facility Ash challenged back in the Kanto Battle Frontier days. (The map of the Kanto Battle Frontier is displayed.)
- Dawn:
The Battle Frontier. That's... uhh...
(Images of all the Frontier Brains Ash has challenged are as follows: Noland and Articuno, Greta and Medicham, Tucker and Arcanine & Swampert, Lucy and Milotic, Spenser and Claydol, Anabel and Espeon, and Brandon and Regice.)
- Brock:
It's a group of facilities somewhat like a Gym, but more intense. Where you challenge and battle against an amazing group of powerful trainers called Frontier Brains. Brandon is the most powerful Kanto Frontier Brain, and everyone calls him the Pyramid King. (Meanwhile back in Reggie's car.) Reggie. Didn't you challenge him too? (A flashback of Reggie's belongings shows the amount of Johto and Sinnoh Gym Badges, and the Kanto Battle Frontier Symbols he collected.) I remember seeing the Frontier Symbols on display at your house.
- Reggie:
Yeah, but I never got the Brave Symbol. Which is proof of winning the Battle Pyramid.
- Paul:
Hmph.
- Ash:
That's right. Brock told me. So, why did you stop battling?
- Reggie:
Because I learned one thing. That I have a lot more to learn.
(Reggie's car arrives at the location of the Battle Pyramid and parks in front of the Pyramid. Brandon and Samuel are standing outside the pyramid, awaiting the arrival of Ash, Brock, Dawn, Zoey, Paul, and Reggie. Paul still stands in front of Reggie's car, taking a look at the pyramid without walking with the others.)
- Brandon:
What a nice surprise.
- Reggie:
It's been much too long, Brandon. (Soon after, Paul joins in with the group to meet Brandon.)
- Brandon:
Great to see so many familiar faces. If I remember, you're Reggie's younger brother, right?
- Paul:
So, you do remember me. I'd like to challenge you to a Pokémon battle. Right here and now.
- Brandon:
Huh?
- Ash:
Battle? (Meanwhile, Candice arrives at the location of the Battle Pyramid on her Dodrio.)
- Candice:
Incredible! It's the real Battle Pyramid! (Candice gets off her Dodrio and takes a closer look at the pyramid with a look of enthusiasm.)
- Zoey:
Miss Senior!
- Candice:
And it's... so huge!
- Brandon:
Sorry to cause such a fuss, but I'm Brandon, the Pyramid King of the Battle Frontier.
- Candice:
I'm honored to meet you. I'm Candice, the Snowpoint Gym Leader. (Candice notices that an SUV appears to the same location. And out comes Maria, the Temple Maiden of the Snowpoint Temple.)
- Brandon:
Oh, it's you, Maria.
- Maria:
We've been waiting for you, Pyramid King. (Maria bows to Brandon.)
- Brandon:
I'd like you to introduce you all. Everyone, please say hello to Temple Maiden Maria.
- Maria:
It's an honor.
(Brock begins to fall in love with Maria. He jumps past Ash and bows himself to Maria, proposing to her.)
- Brock:
With a beautiful maiden like you, I must make a pilgrimage to the Snowpoint Temple right away. (Croagunk appears and hits Brock with a Poison Jab. Brock lays on the ground in pain.) No fair. I haven't even left yet. (Dawn and Zoey both watch Brock's shenanigan with a shy smile. Dawn turns to Zoey, mentioning the Snowpoint Temple with a curious look on her face.)
- Dawn:
Zoey. There's a temple here?
- Zoey:
Oh yeah. The Snowpoint Temple. (The shot of Snowpoint Temple is shown as Zoey is explaining about it.) It's a bit far from here, but it's an ancient temple with a rich history. (Somewhere around the pyramid, Jessie, James, and Meowth are listening in about the Snowpoint Temple with a recording satellite.)
- Dawn:
That sounds awesome.
- James:
Temple, she says.
- Meowth:
Rich, she says.
- Jessie:
History is out. Money is in. (Wobbuffet comes out of its Poké Ball excited about the riches.)
- Brandon:
You see, my purpose in coming to Sinnoh is to investigate the Snowpoint Temple.
- Brock:
Of course. You knew research on many ancient civilizations, right?
- Brandon:
Correct.
- Maria:
But I never imagined you are going to travel here in your amazing Battle Pyramid.
- Brandon:
It appears we've caused a bit of a scene. Now, Sam.
- Samuel:
Sir.
- Brandon:
Please go on ahead with Maria to the temple.
- Samuel:
Huh? What about you?
- Brandon:
Take a look. (Brandon sees Paul's look of anticipation of wanting to challenge him.) Look into his eyes. How can I refuse the battle this young man requests. (Brandon looks at Maria, letting her know what he'll do.) I'll catch up to you soon.
- Maria:
(She bows to Brandon.) Thank you, sir.
- Reggie:
But Paul. Why now?
- Paul:
Cause I have to do what you couldn't. And that's that.
- Ash:
Hey, Brandon. It would be really great if you let us watch your battle.
- Brandon:
(He turns to Paul, awaiting his response.) Hmm. Young man? (Ash, Dawn, Reggie, and Zoey all look at Paul eagerly.)
- Paul:
I don't care.
(Inside the Battle Pyramid, Brandon and Paul are standing on each side of the battlefield, Brock is standing on the referee's platform, and Ash, Dawn, Zoey, Reggie, and Candice all watch at the audience seatings.)
- Brock:
Brandon! I could referee!
- Paul:
Why! There's no need!
- Brandon:
Huh?
- Paul:
(He pulls out his Poké Ball.) It's a full 6-on-6 battle. Pokémon exchanges allowed. The battle will be over when all 6 of one side's Pokémon are unable to continue.
- Brandon:
Very well.
- Ash:
(Thinking in his mind.) Paul wants to do what Reggie couldn't. He's gonna try and beat Brandon.
- Paul:
Magmar, stand by for battle! (Paul sends out his Magmar.)
- Brandon:
Regirock, I need your assistance! (Brandon sends out his Regirock.)
- Candice:
Regirock! (Dawn pulls out her Pokédex.)
- Pokédex:
Regirock, the Rock Peak Pokémon. Regirock's body is made of rock, and if something chips off in battle, it attaches rocks to repair itself.
- Paul:
So, Brandon starts with Regirock. Just like he did with my brother.
- Reggie:
I remember Paul was watching. Of course, that was back when my Pokémon and I were defeated by Brandon. (Ash, Brock, Dawn, Zoey, and Candice all turn to Reggie. Then the flashback where Reggie battled Brandon is shown.) Paul was a new trainer, and he just gotten his Turtwig. (Paul is watching Reggie battle Brandon with his Turtwig by his side.) He had gone to Kanto during his Sinnoh journey. Because he wanted to watch my battle. (In the battlefield, Drapion and Regirock are staring each other down, ready to battle each other.) I had already gone from league to league, and I felt ready to challenge Kanto's Battle Frontier. (Regirock uses Stone Edge to damage Drapion. Drapion charges at Regirock, attempting to damage it with Cross Poison.) So, to become a Frontier Brain, I had one more challenge I needed to face. And that was a battle against Brandon. But... (Regirock uses Focus Punch and defeats Drapion.) We lost without defeating a single Pokémon. (Paul and Turtwig gasp, witnessing Reggie's defeat.)
- Brandon:
No!
You challenged me and I truly did enjoy our battle today. But the fact remains that your battling style is little more than standard ordinary fare. Now, where is your true inner strength!
- Paul:
Wow. What about my inner strength? (Turtwig gets determined to challenge Brandon to avenge Reggie's loss.)
(Meanwhile, Brock is with the others in the audience seating.)
- Brock:
So, the reason Paul's so obsessed with power is because of what happened to Reggie.
- Brandon:
Alright! I can handle anything you bring! Because that's my battling style!
- Paul:
Magmar, return! (Paul recalls Magmar back into its Poké Ball.)
- Brandon:
Return?
- Ash:
What's with Paul?
- Dawn:
They haven't even started.
- Brock:
Paul must have decided that his Fire-type Magmar wouldn't be strong enough against Brandon's Rock-type Regirock.
- Paul:
Hariyama, stand by for battle! (Paul sends out his Hariyama. Dawn pulls out her Pokédex)
- Pokédex:
Hariyama, the Arm Thrust Pokémon. Hariyama can send a truck flying with its powerful Arm Thrusts.
- Zoey:
A Fighting-type. That's a good choice.
- Brandon:
Let's begin. Stone Edge, now! (Regirock unleashes Stone Edge and fires it at Hariyama.)
- Paul:
Quick! Block it! (Hariyama deflects the Stone Edge, resisting it due to being a Fighting-type.) You know Rock-type moves won't have much effect on Hariyama. Is this a test?
- Brandon:
You'll have to see.
- Paul:
Arm Thrust! (Hariyama charges at Regirock and repeatedly damages it with Arm Thrust. Regirock endures the attack.)
- Brandon:
Hold it down! (Regirock wraps its arms around Hariyama, holding it down.)
- Paul:
Oh no!
- Brandon:
Now, Shock Wave! (Regirock electrocutes Hariyama with a Shock Wave. Ash, Brock, and Dawn gasp.)
- Brock:
Even after damage from the Arm Thrust, Regirock has that much power. (Hariyama backs away after the Shock Wave and falls on one knee.)
- Paul:
Force Palm!
- Brandon:
Use Focus Punch!
(Hariyama unleashes Force Palm, but Regirock dodges it. Then Regirock unleashes Focus Punch and damages Hariyama. Hariyama faints.)
- Candice:
It's unable to battle. (Paul recalls Hariyama back into its Poké Ball.)
- Ash:
That Regirock's tough. What power. (Pikachu agrees. Meanwhile, outside of the Battle Pyramid, Team Rocket is taking a closer look.)
- Jessie:
I remember climbing this happily hunting for untold treasure.
- Meowth:
Let's do it again for the good times.
- Jessie:
There was nothing good about the first time. Say, let's do a temple trek.
- Meowth:
By the time we finished drapes into the temple, I'll be too old to remember why.
- James:
Well, I suggest the battle between you two to decide our preferred course of evil action.
- Meowth:
Hey! Don't you have an opinion?!
- James:
At the risk of bragging, nope. (Mime Jr. agrees with James. Both Jessie and Meowth fall down due to James' refusal to decide.)
- Jessie:
Alright. The fate of our future plans is in our hands.
- Meowth:
I have paws!
- Jessie:
To the temple if I win.
- Meowth:
To the pyramid if I win.
- Jessie and Meowth:
Rock, paper, scissors, shoot! (Jessie chooses scissors, and Meowth chooses paper.)
- Jessie:
Then I make you look! (Jessie points at the location of the temple.)
- Paul:
Electabuzz, stand by for battle! (Paul sends out his Electabuzz. Brandon is puzzled, but Paul is smiling.)
- Candice:
Why choose an Electric-type?
- Ash:
(He realizes the purpose of using Electabuzz.) Of course. It makes total sense Paul would do that. (Brock, Dawn, Zoey, Candice, and Reggie all look at Ash with a confused look, realizing that Ash knows the reason why.)
- Paul:
Brick Break! (Electabuzz uses Brick Break and deals super effective damage on Regirock.)
- Ash:
I knew he was going to use Brick Break too.
- Reggie:
Well, Brandon's Regirock is a high-level Pokémon and Paul knows it. So, of course, he's got to use an attack that'll be a powerful match.
- Brandon:
Stone Edge, go! (Regirock unleashes Stone Edge and fires it at Electabuzz.)
- Paul:
Protect! (Electabuzz tries to shield itself with Protect, but it's not powerful enough. So, it took damage from Regirock's Stone Edge anyway.)
- Candice:
Even Protect wasn't strong enough. (Paul growls in anger.)
- Brandon:
Now, Hyper Beam! (Regirock fires a powerful Hyper Beam and defeats Electabuzz in one hit.)
- Ash:
I can't believe how easily he took out Paul's Electabuzz. (Pikachu agrees. Paul recalls Electabuzz back into its Poké Ball.)
- Brandon:
Good. Regirock, return! (Brandon recalls Regirock back into its Poké Ball.)
- Brock:
After using Hyper Beam, a Pokémon can't act right away. So, it's good he's making an exchange now.
- Brandon:
Registeel, I need your assistance! (Brandon sends out his Registeel. Dawn pulls out her Pokédex.)
- Pokédex:
Registeel, the Iron Pokémon. Because Registeel's body has been tempered by underground pressure for thousands of years, its body cannot be scratched.
- Paul:
A Registeel. Magmar, stand by for battle! (Paul sends out his Magmar for a second time.)
- Zoey:
Fire-types have the advantage over Steel-types.
- Paul:
Use Flamethrower! (Magmar uses Flamethrower and it damages Registeel with a super effective hit.)
- Ash:
A direct hit! (Pikachu is amazed about Paul's strategy, Brandon growls. Registeel then shakes off the Flamethrower and stands strong.)
- Paul:
But how!
- Reggie:
It must've had an effect. But it's hanging in.
- Brandon:
Use Iron Head! (Registeel unleashes Iron Head and charges at Magmar.)
- Paul:
Block it and then Will-o-Wisp! (Magmar is attempting to block the Iron Head and use Will-o-Wisp to retaliate, but Registeel is too strong and hits Magmar with the Iron Head. Magmar flinches after that attack.)
- Paul:
Magmar's scared?
- Dawn:
Where's the Will-o-Wisp?
- Brock:
Iron Head may cause opponents to flinch and then it prevents them from attacking. (Paul recalls Magmar to its Poké Ball.)
- Paul:
Now, Nidoking, stand by for battle! (Paul sends out his Nidoking. Dawn pulls out her Pokédex.)
- Pokédex:
Nidoking, the Drill Pokémon. One swing of its mighty tail can snap a telephone pole as if it were nothing but a matchstick.
- Dawn:
Nidoking is a Poison-type, but I thought Poison-type moves don't work on Steel-types. Isn't that right?
- Zoey:
That's true. But Nidoking's also a Ground-type whose moves are effective on Steel-types. We'll have to wait and see which move he calls.
- Brandon:
Use Flash Cannon! (Registeel fires a Flash Cannon and it hits Nidoking. Nidoking still stands strong after that attack.)
- Paul:
Earth Power, now! (Nidoking slams the ground and unleashes Earth Power to deal super effective damage on Registeel.)
- Brandon:
Whoa. That's some impressive strength.
- Paul:
Double Kick! (Nidoking jumps up and delivers a Double Kick on Registeel. Registeel takes more damage but still stands strong.)
- Ash:
Whoa. A hit like that and Registeel's still up.
- Paul:
Now, use Thunderbolt! (Nidoking unleashes its Thunderbolt to deal more damage to Registeel.)
- Brandon:
Iron Head, go! (Registeel uses Iron Head and surpasses Nidoking's Thunderbolt. Registeel defeats Nidoking after landing an Iron Head.)
- Zoey:
Nidoking's unable to battle too. It was a good attack though.
- Brandon:
Alright, what's wrong. And here I thought you wanted to beat the man who defeated your brother. (Paul recalls Nidoking to its Poké Ball.)
- Paul:
The truth is it's only because you defeated Reggie that my victory over you will have meaning. The challenge you always present the trainers to find their own strength is something my brother wasn't able to do! But I'm not like my brother! My will gives me strength! And now, you'll see it firsthand!
- Brandon:
No!
All wrapped up in the past. But why then do you want the Pokémon path in the first place? Tell me, why do you battle! (Paul growls angrily.)
- Paul:
Now, Lairon, stand by for battle!
(Paul sends out his Lairon. Dawn pulls out her Pokédex.)
- Pokédex:
Lairon, the Iron Armor Pokémon. It digs up iron ore for food and smashes its steely body up against others in battles over territory.
- Brandon:
Registeel, return! (Brandon recalls Registeel to its Poké Ball.) Regice, I need your assistance! (Brandon sends out his Regice.)
- Paul:
Iron Defense! (Lairon begins to increase its Defense with Iron Defense.)
- Dawn:
Does that?
- Brock:
Right. It increased its defensive power.
- Reggie:
Yeah. Paul wants to hang in there and look for a chance to counterstrike.
- Brandon:
Ice Beam, go! (Regice fires an Ice Beam, and it freezes Lairon solid.)
- Paul:
What the?!
- Brandon:
Zap Cannon! (Regice fires a Zap Cannon, and it hits Lairon. Paul gasps as Lairon faints from the Zap Cannon. He then growls in anger.)
- Ash:
Man. Lairon didn't even get to attack once. (Paul recalls Lairon to its Poké Ball. He growls angrily again.)
- Paul: Ursaring, stand by for battle!
(Paul sends out his Ursaring.) Use Hammer Arm!
- Brandon:
Focus Punch, go! (Ursaring and Regice all charge at each other using their physical attacks. Hammer Arm and Focus Punch collide, causing an explosion to push them back.)
- Paul:
Now, Focus Blast! (Ursaring is getting ready to shoot the Focus Blast at Regice.)
- Brandon:
Zap Cannon! (Regice fires its Zap Cannon. Ursaring fails to use Focus Blast and gets hit and paralyzed by the Zap Cannon.)
- Ash:
Whoa. What happened?
- Brock:
Zap Cannon always paralyzes its target if it hits. (Paul growls angrily.)
- Ash:
Why isn't Paul switching?
- Brandon:
Now, Regice, return! (Brandon recalls Regice to its Poké Ball.) Regirock, I need your assistance! (Brandon sends out his Regirock for a second time.)
- Paul:
Regirock again?!
- Brandon:
Use Stone Edge! (Regirock unleashes Stone Edge and fires it at Ursaring. Ursaring gets knocked out by the Stone Edge.)
- Paul:
Ursaring, return! (Paul recalls Ursaring to its Poké Ball.)
- Reggie:
Paul had already given up on Ursaring. He just stopped giving it commands.
- Paul:
Now, Magmar, stand by for battle!
(Paul sends out his Magmar for a third time.)
- Dawn:
Paul's last Pokémon.
- Candice:
Not only is it a bad matchup, Regirock is just too powerful. It's almost over.
- Paul:
Now, Flamethrower! (Magmar fires its Flamethrower and it damages Regirock. Regirock shakes off the Flamethrower and stands strong.)
- Brandon:
Shock Wave, let's go, now! (Regirock unleashes its Shock Wave and electrocutes Magmar. Paul, Ash, and Pikachu gasp at the sight. Magmar faints and Paul is shaken with horror.)
- Ash:
Paul lost. After all that. (Paul recalls Magmar to its Poké Ball.)
- Brandon:
Young man! This battle of yours. Was that your true battle? You've done an excellent job at raising and training your Pokémon, but you allowed your emotions to betray you on the battlefield. (Paul looks upward at Brandon, realizing his mistake.) We will battle again when one day when you've learned to control them. (Paul bows to Brandon. Meanwhile, Jessie and Meowth still play rock-paper-scissors outside the Battle Pyramid.)
- Jessie and Meowth:
Rock, paper, scissors, shoot! (Jessie chooses scissors, and Meowth chooses paper.)
- Jessie:
Then I make you look! (Jessie points at the location of the temple.)
- Jessie and Meowth:
Rock, paper, scissors, shoot! (Jessie chooses paper, and Meowth chooses rock.)
- Jessie:
Then I make you look! (Jessie points at the location of the pyramid. Until then, Jessie, James, and Meowth all see that Ash, Brock, Dawn, Zoey, Candice, Reggie, Paul, and Brandon walk out of the pyramid.)
- Paul:
You can expect me to see you at the Snowpoint Gym.
- Candice:
Great, Paul. I'll be looking forward to it. (She turns to Zoey) So, Zo-Zo, I guess it's our turn next, right? A kiai battle with you and me. Let's get going. (Zoey smiles)
- Zoey:
You bet, Miss Senior. (Candice sends out her Dodrio.)
- Candice:
And much good luck with your next contest, Dawn.
- Dawn:
Thank you. (Piplup thanks Candice with a look of determination. Candice and Zoey depart from the Battle Pyramid on Dodrio as Zoey waves Dawn goodbye.)
- Candice:
Okay, everyone! See you around!
- Zoey:
See you, Dawn! (Ash, Brock, and Dawn wave Zoey and Candice goodbye.)
- Dawn:
Bye bye, Zoey! Good luck!
- Ash:
Take care! (Paul walks away but then immediately stops as Reggie calls him.)
- Reggie:
Hey, Paul. Do you think there's any chance that you and Ash could treat us to a full battle at some point?
(Paul gasps in surprise. Ash is also surprised.)
- Ash:
Me and Paul?
- Brandon:
You two! Interesting idea! Let's set the time and place and agree to meet again. That's bound to be a battle guaranteed to raise the level of both of you. Of that there can be no doubt.
- Ash:
Yeah. Great. I'm in.
- Paul:
I'm in too.
- Brock:
Reggie, what about the time and place?
- Reggie:
Exactly 10 days from now. At the Pokémon Center near Lake Acuity. (Ash and Paul stare each other down.)
- Narrator:
And so, one wonders what Paul has taken away from his battle with Brandon. And how that might affect the upcoming full battle between Ash and Paul. You'll need to stay tuned for the answer and patiently wait 10 days in the process. (The SUV shows up again. Samuel and Maria come out to warn Brandon about something terrible.)
- Samuel:
Brandon!
- Maria:
Something terrible has happened at the temple!
- Brandon:
Oh no! (To be continued.)
