Cyclizar (モトトカゲ, Mototokage?) (SYE-clih-zahr[1]) is a Dragon/Normal-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX.
Biology[]
Physiology[]
Cyclizar overall resembles a reptilian creature, mostly with lizard attributes. Its body is primarily green, though black features also cover its body. Its hands and feet each have four fingers/toes, with the two innermost ones being together and the two outermost ones spreading out. Black sections of its body appear on its hands (which dot its palms and fingers), its tail (which is sectioned and has a white tip), and its head. The black section on its head also curves back, resembling a bicycle helmet, and goes down to its neck. An orange circular mark is also on its head, just near its eyes. A black plate can also be seen where its tail and body meet. Cyclizar also has a protrusion from its throat, resembling a bike tire. When Cyclizar is being ridden on, it puffs up this protrusion and curls its tail, making the appearance of wheels.
Behavior[]
Cyclizar are overall quite mild Pokémon and do not mind the presence of humans, as they have worked together since Paldea's ancient times. They gladly allow human riders to climb on their back and use them as transportation; this is because a human’s body temperature can help regulate Cyclizar's body heat, keeping them warm and staving off cold temperatures.
Natural Abilities[]
Cyclizar are able to run at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour while carrying a human rider, making them great for human transportation in the Paldea region. Their sturdy head and tail help maintain stability, allowing them to absorb blows and shocks while in and out of battle.
Evolution[]
Cyclizar does not evolve.

Pokédex entries[]
- Scarlet
Apparently Cyclizar has been allowing people to ride on its back since ancient times. Depictions of this have been found in 10,000-year-old murals.
- Violet
It can sprint at over 70 mph while carrying a human. The rider's body heat warms Cyclizar's back and lifts the Pokémon's spirit.

Trivia[]
- Cyclizar shares its species name with Skiddo and its evolution, Gogoat. All three are known as the Mount Pokémon.
- Cyclizar's appearance is very similar to that of Koraidon and Miraidon, the legendary mascot Pokémon of Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. It is currently confirmed that they are ancient and futuristic versions of Cyclizar, respectively. In spite of this, Cyclizar is not classified as a Legendary Pokémon.
- Cyclizar and Drampa are the only Dragon/Normal-type Pokémon.
Origin[]
Cyclizar's lizard-like attributes and throat protrusion appear to make it based on an anole, a family of lizards who typically have a colorful flap of skin on their throats for display. It also bears a resemblance to Dromaeosaurid. Some elements of its design appear to be inspired by a bicycle or motorbike, as its throat and tail resemble tires. Its head also resembles the shape of a bicycle helmet, its cheeks are similar to turn signal lights, its rear looks like a motorcycle seat, and the protrusion on its chest together with its tail resemble rubber tires, the latter especially when curled.
Cyclizar's green coloration (which is also common among anoles) and resemblance to Koraidon and Miraidon may be based on the color names of the Generation IX games. While Koraidon represents the color scarlet, which is at the far left of the color spectrum, and Miraidon represents the color violet, which is at the far right of the color spectrum, Cyclizar could represent the color green, which is at the middle of the color spectrum.
Etymology[]
Cyclizar appears to come from "cycle" (as in "motorcycle" or "bicycle") and "lizard".
Mototokage appears to come from "motorcycle" and "tokage" (lizard).
