Cogita is the sole resident of the Ancient Retreat, and is related to the ancient Celestica people that use to live in Hisui before the Diamond and Pearl Clans' arrivals.
Appearance[]
Cogita appears to be an ancestor of the Sinnoh champion Cynthia, while resembling more closely related to Volo. She's a tall woman who wears a black hat adorned with white flowers, a long floor length black dress donned with silver teardrop gems, and long white gloves. She also has long white hair tied into a bun.
Personality[]
Cogita is a cryptic woman with lots of ancient wisdom. While erudite and wise, she is generally very rational and friendly.
Etymology[]
The name Cogita is likely derived from cogito (Latin for "I think"), and to a larger extent the proverb "cogito ergo sum" coined by philosopher René Descartes.
Biography[]
She helps the player character in the main story when after they were kicked out of Jubilife Village by Kamado, she will let them stay while they go get the materials for the Red Chain in order to quail Dialga and Palkia. After the events of the main story she will task to claim all the Arceus plates in the quest "Seeking the Remaining Plates".
After completing that quest she will task the player character to get the Incarnate Forces of Hisui. With that done, and if research level 10 in the Pokédex is obtained for Landorus, Tornadus, and Thundurus, she will than task to get research level 10 for the new Pokémon Enamorus. She will give the player Reveal Glass once Enamorus is captured by the player, and states that she has nothing left to teach the player.
