The Coba Berry is a Berry introduced in Generation IV.

Description[]

Battle effect[]

If the holder is hit by a super-effective Flying-type move, the Coba Berry is consumed and the damage taken is halved.

If Pluck is used on a Pokémon holding a Coba Berry with weakness to Flying-type moves, the Coba Berry is activated and consumed before the attacker steals the Berry.

Origin[]

The Coba Berry is based on a babaco, which it also gets its name from. Its name and color may also reference the pigment cobalt blue. Its ability to lessen damage from a Flying-type attack may be based on how babaco grow at high altitudes.
