As Dratini[]
Clair and Dratini used to battle Lance and his Horsea[1] before Lance left Blackthorn City.[2]
As Dragonair[]
Johto[]
Clair sent her Dragonair to battle a challenger's Seadra. Dragonair used Safeguard, followed by Dragon Breath, which defeated Seadra. Later on, Dragonair faced Suicune and protected Clair from its attack. However, this caused Dragonair's crystal to shatter. Regardless, Dragonair fired Dragon Breath and paralyzed Suicune. Clair went to catch Suicune and failed, for Suicune just made a reflection of ice to fool Clair.[3] The association director of Johto reported the encounter, knowing Suicune was going to Mahogany Town's Gym.[4]
Clair and Dragonair came to the Indigo League, where she and the rest of the Gym Leaders took part in the tournament.[5]
Though being on the train and fighting Team Rocket grunts, Clair challenged Blaine to a fight. Clair had her Dragonair use Thunder Wave on him and even attack Blaine with Outrage, since she demanded answers what happened to her cousin, Lance. Blaine, however, sent Entei, who burned them away.[2]
Johto II[]
Clair sent Dragonair at the cave of Whirl Islands to ambush Silver. However, Silver explained he was not her, or Lance's enemy.[1]
