Charicific Valley is a location in Pokémon the Series.
Description[]
Charicific Valley is a training facility for Charizard. It is located just outside of Violet City, in the Johto region. Charicific Valley is surrounded by a lake, and in its center is a rock formation shaped like Charizard. The valley itself is located within this formation. Access is only possible by flying or entering through a large metal gate. The gate's frame is shaped like two Charizard battling. To reach the gate, one must pass through a stone archway over the water, then make their way along a path lined with stone statues of Charizard, and finally climb a staircase divided into three levels.
Wild Charizard have lived peacefully in Charicific Valley for thousands of years. The Charizard are naturally trained to thrive, because the valley provides them with an ideal temperature and climate. The Charizard also train and compete continuously, battling each other to grow and grow larger than average. The intensity of the training and the fierceness of the Charizard is why Charicific Valley is home to some of the strongest Charizard in the Pokémon World.
Liza is the protector of Charicific Valley, which is officially off-limits to tourists. Liza lives within Charicific Valley as the only human. Her Charizard, Charla, is the protector of the Charicific Valley.
Charicific Valley is where Ash's Charizard stayed after accompanying him during his adventures in Kanto and the Orange Islands. It would complete its training and return to Ash during his adventures in Unova.

Pokémon the Series[]
Pokémon the Series: Gold and Silver[]
Charicific Valley first appears in the "Charizard's Burning Ambitions". After Ash Ketchum wins his first Gym Badge in the Johto region, he continues his journey to the next town to fight for his second Johto Gym Badge. Exhausted from walking, the protagonists arrive at a valley where they meet a trainer who uses the echo of the place to call her Charizard. Brock looks up their location in his Pokémon guide and realizes that they are near the nature reserve known as Charicific Valley. Liza introduces herself to the protagonists and realizes that Ash has a Charizard because of the subtle scent it gives off. She offers to take Brock and Misty to the valley in the basket where she carries her supplies and transports her Charizard. Since Ash does not fit, Liza tells him to fly on Charizard's back so he can follow them.
During the journey, Ash practices flying with his Charizard so that it can support his weight while flying and they can reach the valley. Misty asks Liza if the other Charizard carry passengers like her Pokémon, to which she replies that the others are wild and do not even see humans often. Liza tells them that she is in charge of protecting them from bad people like Pokémon hunters.
Ash then challenges Liza and her Charizard to a battle to see if he is fit to be admitted to the Charicific Valley. Liza declines because Charla is not a naturally trained Charizard, and Liza has had her since she was a Charmander. Ash and his Charizard then challenge the local Charizards, losing easily to them, and thus realize that the Charizards of the valley are very powerful, as even the most peaceful Charizard easily defeats him. Charizard insists on fighting even though everyone tells him to stop before something bad happens, and even Liza says she will not be responsible for what might happen.
It ends with Ash's Charizard being thrown out of Charicific Valley and Liza closing the valley gates. Ash's Charizard feels sad and disappointed. Ash's Charizard was insistent on re-entering the Charicific Valley, to the extent that it spent an entire night half-submerged in the water of the lake near the valley; this made Ash realize that his Charizard really wanted to enter Charicific Valley to train with the other Charizard.
After Ash's Charizard defeated the Team Rocket trio, Liza allows him to enter due to his persistence.
In the film Pokémon 3: The Movie, the Charicific Valley appears as well as Liza's house. Liza is seen inside her house watching a broadcast on television that recounts the events in Greenfield. Ash's Charizard peeks out of a window and notice that Ash needs him, so Charizard flies off to Greenfield.
Pokémon the Series: Black & White[]
In "The Fires of a Red-Hot Reunion!", Charicific Valley is seen during a flashback as Ash tells the story to Cilan and Iris.
