Cervantis is a character appearing in Pokémon Horizons: The Series. He is the Exceed company's former president, Gibeon's estranged son-in-law, and Amethio's father.

Personality[]

Cervantis is a fair-minded person, despite his association with the Explorers. For example, he holds no ill-will against Friede for leaving Exceed, and he shows concern when Spinel claimed that the Strong Spheres are safe.

Cervantis has a complicated relationship with his son Amethio, being rather dismissive when Amethio interrogated him about Laquium. However, he does care deeply about his son, trying to figure out Amethio's whereabouts and hoping to clear Amethio's name by providing important information to Zirc and Onia.

It is also implied Cervantis loves his late wife Maria deeply, still wearing his ring even years after he was widowed.

Biography[]

As implied by Gibeon, Cervantis was formerly a member of the Explorers when he was inducted as a young man, before he quit due to ideological differences and became the president of Exceed. This decision had led to him being exiled by his own father-in-law, who was furious by his deviation. However, his boss is still Gibeon, who monitors his every decision for the company.[1]

When Professor Friede, who is a former employee of Exceed, tried to gain information from Crave about the rumored Eternal Grace related to Terapagos, Cervantis said he could not provide any concrete answers due to pressure from higher-ups. However, he still gave Friede the latter's staff ID for Friede to access certain areas of the company.[1]

When Amethio interrogated Cervantis about details of the Laquium, Cervantis refused to answer under the excuse of being pressured by higher-ups. After Amethio left in disappointment, Cervantis then agreed with Spinel regarding the notion of how Amethio was becoming too rebellious.[2]

One year later, Cervantis lost his position to Spinel, who replaced him as the current president of Exceed.[3] It is later implied by Hamber that Cervantis quit the position himself, and that he didn't believe that his son Amethio, who had been missing for a while, is gone as claimed by Spinel.[4]

However, it is later said that Spinel forcibly stole Cervantis' position, and Cervantis has been working as a worker in Exceed while secretly gathering information about his son's whereabouts. He barely avoided Spinel's suspicion during Spinel's inspection despite being denied of a clear answer on the matter of Strong Spheres, while subsequently sending out a message to Zirc and Onia containing their requested information.[5]
