Ceruledge (Japanese: ソウブレイズ, HepburnSoubureizu) (suh-ROOL-ehj[1]) is a Fire/Ghost-type Pokémon introduced in Generation IX. Its counterpart in Pokémon Scarlet is Armarouge.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Ceruledge is a tall humanoid Pokémon resembling a knight. It wears dark purple armor that is segmented across its body. Its body is primarily blue with black sections at its face, feet, and thighs. It also sports greaves which are enlarged towards the top, extending outward. Ceruledge also dons a dark purple segmented helmet, which covers most of its face, with a petal-like pattern on it. Its hands also resemble large blades which are light blue in color at the ricasso but transition into a faint red near the point. Its eyes are light purple with white flame-like protrusions emitting from its pupils. It also sports two spike-like protrusions coming from the sides of its head, resembling ears. A large flame also flows from the top of its head, resembling a knight's helmet plume.

Behavior[]

Ceruledge prefer getting close to an opponent during battle and utilize their speed to strike at their opponent's blind spots. The armor that Ceruledge dons is steeped in past grudges. It wields blades of ghostly fire that transform into swords during battle. Ceruledge's blades also leave wounds that leak life energy when they have cut an opponent.

Evolution[]

Ceruledge evolves from Charcadet when exposed to Malicious Armor, an item appearing only in Pokémon Violet.

    Trivia[]

    Origin[]

Ceruledge's armor may be based on the armor of European knights, most likely a haunted suit of armor which are said to be possessed by ghosts. Ceruledge’s overall appearance may be based on the black knight from medieval settings. It may also alternatively be based on mecha suits, which are popular in Japanese pop culture. It may also be based on the Akuma of Japanese folklore, which is described as a sword-wielding spirit with a fiery head and eyes.

    Etymology[]

Ceruledge may be a portmanteau of "cerulean" (a shade of blue) and "edge".
