Carlton is Gemma's father who lived with his family in theit village. One day, however, most of the villagers were gone, since a drought has evaporated the land, leaving it dry. To help out his family, Gemma's father left Lotus and Gemma to find a source of water for the land. Gemma searched for Jirachi and when she managed to beg it for a wish, Jirachi fulfilled her wish - Carlton came back to reunite with his family. Not soon after, water started coming out, healing the land.
