The Canalave Library is a location introduced in Generation IV.
Description[]
Canalave Library is a three-story library building located in Canalave City. It is located north of Canalave City Gym, in the northwest area of the city. The player can go to Canalave Library to read books about the world of Pokémon, mostly myths involving the Sinnoh region.
At one point, the player has to enter the Canalave Library before they can access Lake Valor, since the entrance there is otherwise blocked by two Scientists, or Cameramen in Pokémon Platinum Version. After the player defeats Byron at the Canalave City Gym, their rival appears and tells them to follow him into the Canalave Library. On the top floor, the player meets up with their rival, Dawn/Lucas, and Professor Rowan. Rowan wishes to learn more about the Lake Guardians, so he asks the player, their rival, and Dawn/Lucas to go to Lake Valor, Lake Acuity, and Lake Verity, respectively. During the meeting, an earthquake suddenly occurs, and the characters all go outside, where a Sailor tells them that an explosion had occurred at Lake Valor.
In Pokémon Platinum Version, the player's rival forbids the player from entering the Canalave Library unless they acquire Strength from Iron Island.
In Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Pokémon Shining Pearl, one of the books contains a hint for encountering Manaphy and Phione in the then upcoming Pokémon Legends: Arceus, where the player needs to have a Mantyke, a Buizel, and an Overqwil (though, to avoid spoilers, the book doesn't mention it by name, instead describing it as a "Qwilfish with huge spikes") in their party and go to Sand's Reach in the Cobalt Coastlands in the evening to trigger Manaphy and Phione's appearance in the Seaside Hollow.
