Calyrex

Template:PokéBoxPanel Calyrex is a psychic/grass-type Legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation VIII. It is the mascot of Crown Tundra.

Biology

Physiology

Calyrex is a bipedal, mammalian Pokémon that resembles a hare. Its main body is light grey with a round torso, and it has long white legs with no visible digits. Its arms are also short with white tips and no visible digits. Calyrex also has four long ears with white tips that hold up its large brain (which is green with a light purple top), and around its neck are smaller features similar to its brain, with the smallest one in the front and the largest one in the back. Its long face has a white underside, half-closed purple eyes, and a black triangular nose. It also has four purple insect-like wings, which slightly gives off the impression of a royal cape. As Ice Rider and Shadow Rider Calyrex, Calyrex's cape becomes longer and gains a cream color layer on top.

Behavior

Calyrex used to rule all of Galar in ancient times. It is very intelligent and its brain is very large.

Natural Abilities

Calyrex has the power to envision the events of all three phases of time, namely past, present and future. It can also communicate with humans by overtaking someone else's body.

Evolution

Calyrex does not evolve.

  Calyrex is a merciful Pokémon, capable of providing healing and blessings. It reigned over the Galar region in times of yore.
  Ice Rider: According to lore, this Pokémon showed no mercy to those who got in its way, yet it would heal its opponents' wounds after battle.
  Shadow Rider: It's said that Calyrex and a Pokémon that had bonded with it ran all across the Galar region to bring green to the wastelands.

• Shield

  Calyrex is known in legend as a king that ruled over Galar in ancient times. It has the power to cause hearts to mend and plants to spring forth.
  Ice Rider: It's said that this Pokémon once moved a large forest—and all the Pokémon living there—to a new location overnight.
  Shadow Rider: Legend says that by using its power to see all events from past to future, this Pokémon saved the creatures of a forest from a meteorite strike.

Trivia

• Instead of getting a red tint, Calyrex and its forms get a blue tint when Dynamaxed, similar to Gigantamaxing.
• The markings on Calyrex's collar bear a striking resemblance to the Triforce from the Legend of Zelda series.
• Its title is "King of Bountiful Harvests" in the Crown Tundra.
• Calyrex, in its Rider forms, is the only Pokémon to have more than one Ability active in battle.
• It is the first known Talking Pokémon who talks like humans in the original video game adaption, rather than first doing it in an animated or spin-off adaption.

Etymology

Calyrex comes from calyx, a plant part and the Latin word for bud, and rex, which means king in Latin. It may also be a reference to a breed of rabbit called the rex, though Calyrex more resembles a hare than a rabbit appearance-wise.
