Blackthorn City Gym is a location introduced in Generation II.

Description

Blackthorn City Gym is a Gym of the Johto region that features Clair as the Gym Leader. It is located in Blackthorn City. Clair specializes in the use of Dragon-type Pokémon. Even after Clair has been defeated, the player does not receive the Rising Badge unless they go into the Dragon's Den and fulfill her request.

In Generation II, the Gym has two floors. On the upper floor, the player has to use the HM Strength to move boulders to make a bridge on the bottom floor. In Pokémon HeartGold Version and Pokémon SoulSilver Version, Blackthorn City Gym has the shape of a dragon in the lava that the player has to navigate around.
